They took the picture to a medium and before they even sat down, the medium said, "I don't want to talk about the picture you're going to show me."
Oh my god. Yeah. very spooky.
You guys, I just got home from the recording that you're about to listen to, and I'm really excited to share it with you. So, like I said last month, there are a couple episodes that we didn't pre-record. K and I together did not pre-record. So, I have a guest for today's episode. It is one of my nearest and dearest friends and brother, as we call each other, Ash from Morbid Podcast. We get some stories from Ash's childhood and also share some stories with paranormal evidence. So, this is
1:00
one of those episodes we highly recommend going over to YouTube to check out the photos and videos, but if you prefer listening, totally fine. We'll post all the images and videos on social media this week as the episode comes out. So, check it out over there. And um enjoy the episode. I love Ash. Also, Elena couldn't join us today, but she does have a book that just came out. So, please go support my other brother, Elena, whose book, The Butcher Legacy, just came out and is available for purchase. It's the third in the Butcher and the Ren series. And I might have a little inside scoop on it. And all you need to know is it's amazing. Okay, enjoy the episode. Oh, this is also two girls, one ghost. Two girls, one ghost.
welcome Ash
Hey. Hi. Welcome. Thank you. Thanks for being here.
I've never been here,
brother Ash. I've never been here. This is your house.
No, [laughter] I've been in my house, but I've never been on your pod.
Technically, you have multiple times.
Have I?
Not alone.
2:00
Okay. See that? Yeah. Multiple times.
Yeah, we did the Lizzie Bordon episode. And then, but the year before that, I think we did when we recorded in the vault, the bank vault in Boston.
Oh my god. That's Wait, that's like when we met.
That was our origin story. Yeah, I forgot.
No, we I we met.
[ __ ] I'm like I don't know our friendship. I'm trying to think. There was a time that Karin and I had gone and investigated the Conjuring House.
Okay.
And I don't know how we became friends, but we went and got breakfast with you and Elena in like a diner.
I feel like that was after
that was before.
That was before the vault,
I think. So,
and then the vault came after.
So, we were just we were just homies. Like we were meant to be homies. Yeah.
Fell in love. [laughter]
See you being like this is our friendship, Ash. This is how this worked. And then we did witch class together.
We did do witch class together. That was so fun.
Which a lot of people on Two Girls Go have been like, "Okay, why have you never talked about witch class?"
I know.
And I feel like I would occasionally share knowledge that Yeah.
I shared, but I also didn't want to
3:00
share the location of it.
Well, that's why I've really refrained from saying anything cuz like it's in my town.
Exactly. Yeah. Like don't want people showing up.
Yeah. You know,
I got to keep the witch glass chill.
But that was a bonding experience
for so many reasons. For so many reasons.
For so many reasons. Yeah. But it was very very fun. I loved witch class. You also are you still doing your astrology one?
I fell off of it because this summer has just been like really really really busy. But I'm going to have like a meeting with the teacher where she basically just like catches me up. I think I've missed a one-on-one private session.
No, she's great. I've missed like three classes though. So I did like the first installment and then I'm in the advanced course. But I couldn't keep up with the advanced course.
It's like AP classes made it. Yeah. But I'm like Yeah. I didn't do those in high school. I did like the remedial ones. So,
but look at you now.
I know.
We both picked stories from our listeners with paranormal evidence. So,
I know. And I almost picked one that you guys have already covered before.
Which literally comes out in an episode that comes out like the week before this episode with you out. Yeah.
I'm like, change it.
4:00
Or was it like Kismmet and Serendipity and meant to be read?
I think so. That one's creepy.
It is creepy. Encounters. Let's see. Which one is it? I'll let everyone know so they can
look out for it.
Look out for it. It's a ghost photo from Myrtle's Plantation, and I think Karen read it on Encounters 344, which comes out August 13th. So, yeah, like the week before our episode.
I looked at this picture at like 11:00 last night as I was like
basically just like getting ready for bed, and I was like, I probably shouldn't have looked at that. Like, ew.
Do things keep you up at night?
Yes. Paranormal things.
True crime things. Some true crime things keep you up at night, but a lot of times I can kind of like compartmentalize. Yeah,
Paranormal Things for some reason. Like Paranormal Activity, the Broadway show. They're like off Broadway, whatever it is.
It's on Broadway now.
Yeah, I was going to say it just
so good. They just Yeah, they're in New York now.
I saw it twice. And
so good.
I was just as scared the second time because the first time we went, we were in the front row, so we couldn't see a lot of what was happening on that second floor.
I actually screamed in the audience.
5:00
Yes. [laughter]
You know the
You were that person?
You know the No, I literally was. And I was like, "Oh my god, that was involuntary." [laughter] Like I I'm not that person. The part when like somebody like
Oh yes.
I literally was like
it's haunting the way that they did. I'm trying to talk to Sher Alvarez who's the main actress in that
on the podcast. I want to have her on [clears throat] the podcast. I'll poop my pants.
Okay. Well, cuz she's incredible. She also has a lot of paranormal experiences.
Really?
So they invited me to go to the show. Two two stories. And afterwards we had a conversation with them and I was like, "So doing the show, are you guys haunted?"
Yeah.
And they've had a lot cuz they toured it around the US and
so we met somebody in costumeuming I think.
Oh, that's very cool.
And she was telling us like the theater has been experiencing a lot like the what is it? The Emerson
the Emerson colonial. Mhm.
Yeah.
Yeah. So they have some great stories. But then second, they also filmed our group of people and our reactions watching the show
like the audience.
The entire time I'm literally like you
6:00
didn't get like you didn't jump. But I like I think I smile when I'm scared.
Do you really?
So I was just like,
"Wait, I'm gonna have to look at you on like our next investigation and you're just gonna be like cheesesing in the corner as I'm like crying."
Which is also like haunting in a way I guess having a
creepy smile.

childhood hauntings
haunted. Yeah, I'm hella haunted,
actually. Okay, before we get into our stories.
Yeah,
because I feel like we talk so much about life when you and I hang out, but I don't know about any hauntings that have happened in your life
really
recently or in general. I mean, I know some, but
I mean recently luckily nothing. I moved into a new house and it is older than my last house, but I haven't I mean, knock on wood, I haven't experienced anything. I'm really not in the mood to experience it. You're like,
not today.
I'm just like, please keep it to yourself. Like, we can all coexist here. And I feel like even if you did, you'd be so unbothered. You'd be like, "Yeah,
8:00
I can't deal with you right now."
I'd be pretty bothered. I'd be pretty bothered. I'd be like, "Can you just like not show yourself?
You leave me alone.
We can just we can vibe together."
Yeah.
I used to see a lot more stuff when I was little and I feel like that's such a common experience like cuz you're so much more open to it.
So, have I told you the story when I lived at my grandparents house with my mom and I like woke up in the middle of the night?
No.
Okay. So, my grandparents have an old farmhouse. I think it's like 1900s, like early 1900s, and it's like literally used to function as a farm. So, my it's it's a gorgeous house, but my uh mom and I used to live there, and we actually shared a room with Elena. There's like a curtain in the middle cuz Elena was like, "Stay on your side." to my mom. I could go on both sides.
Elena is a queen of boundaries.
Yeah, she's great with boundaries.
Yeah, there was a big shower curtain in the middle and it was like I had free reign to go, but my mom probably needed like a password or something. And Elena's very neat, too. And my mom is like not neat at all. And honestly, neither am I. [laughter]
But anyway, so one night I was sleeping and my mom and I were like kind of in
9:00
like a day bed like pushed up against this side of the wall. And then there's a closet right here.
And I woke up and I looked down and I literally saw like full not even like an apparition, like a a child in like plaid little pants, like old timey pants, like little like vest and like newspaper boy.
Exactly. just reading my mom's book like leaned up against the
reading your mom's book.
Reading my like holding my mom's book reading it.
What book was it?
I think it was probably like a [ __ ] Danielle Steel novel.
But I love that. It's getting heated in here.
He was like, "Damn, it's steamy."
And so I woke my mom up and I was like, "Mom, like there's a boy. Like what the fuck?" And she was like, "No, no, like go back to sleep." But then I think there was like a nightstand or like a dresser that the book had been on. Yeah.
And when she woke up the next morning, the book was on the floor like in like wedged in the closet.
In the closet.
Yeah. Like like wedged in like next to where he was sitting cuz he was sitting up against the closet.
So everybody was like I think she saw what she said she saw.
10:00
You for sure saw what you said you saw.
I mean I did. I And I honestly I feel like he's like my homie. Like I'm like
he didn't scare me or anything like that.
He's just trying to read books.
Yeah. He was just being literate. Also, how I want to spend my afterlife.
Yeah. Just reading books.
There's so many books.
Yeah. And so little time.
And so little time. It's one of the most depressing thoughts.
I know.
That I'll never be able to read all the books.
I know.
But now it's promising that you can do it in the afterlife.
There's hope. There's hope. You can just be a little newspaper boy reading in the
after the book. Yeah. Wait. I love that.
Yeah. That's
That's a good haunting.
Yeah, it was a cute haunting. I've had scarier ones, but
What's your scariest? I used to live in an apartment with my mom and obviously cuz I was a child. Um, and my bed used to shake like a lot and I would wake up and it would like continue shaking.
So Karen had that a lot and I had never experienced it really
but it's a common thing.
Yeah, it's scary. Well, I never like really said anything cuz I was like I'm probably just imagining it and I was a bad sleeper anyway so I'd like get in trouble for not going to sleep so I just be like I guess I'm just deal with this.
11:00
[laughter] And I heard my mom and my stepdad one day talking about like weird [ __ ] happening in the apartment. I was like eavesdropping and they were saying that their bed like had like weird [ __ ] had been going on in their room. Their bed was shaking and I was like I'm not crazy. And then it turned out somebody had been in like a really bad motorcycle accident.
Oh [ __ ]
That had lived there and that their bike was still on the property cuz I think they were like family members to somebody that lived there.
So maybe it was like
Yeah. you know, like unfinished
energy or something like that, you know? I don't think it was necessarily like that person, right?
But I think
just like the energy
the energy like the sadness and the
Wow.
Yeah,
that's intense.
Yeah. I've lived in a lot of creepy apartments cuz we moved a lot when I was younger.
I've seen a lot of ghosts and experienced a lot of weird [ __ ]
Yeah, I love it. And that's why you're a weirdo.
Here I am and here you are. You've turned it into a career.
It's so funny. Every time I meet someone new and I tell them what I do, they're like, "How did you get into it?" And then it's inevitably I'm like, "Well, I
12:00
grew up in a haunted house and like I have to tell the whole story."
I don't know that much about your haunted house.
So,
I know about Karen's haunted house.
And Karen's got like Karin has weird [ __ ] for days.
We've done like the Karen special and hers had to be a two-parter.
I bet.
And I feel like she could probably do like a three-parter.
I need to go back and listen to those. I
Yeah. Mine's like half an episode and it's mostly talking about my dad.
Yeah. [laughter] But yeah, we moved into the house when I was four. My sister was six. My brother wasn't born yet.
Was this in Jersey?
In Jersey. It was a brand new build, but it was built on like farmland.
And almost immediately there was like a negative dark energy.
Yeah.
That I dreamt my sister was possessed.
What?
And I found out 20 years later, basically, 18 years later, that I had like slept, walked, and actually seen something that had happened.
What?
Yeah. Yeah.
I don't know this. So, I had this reoccurring nightmare growing up and it started when we moved into the house that I would wake up as I had gone to
13:00
bed. So, like my room would be the same. I would be in the outfit that I had gone to bed in,
but you were like sleeping on
I thought it was a dream.
Okay.
And I would feel like this presence was at my doorway and it felt like I needed to follow it. So, I would follow it down the the hallway to my sister's room and I would open my sister's bedroom door and it would be like these like black and white orbs fighting over her, like diving down, fighting over her.
Okay. Wait, I think you've told me a little bit of this. Yeah.
And I woke up always woke up at that moment like it was scary.
Okay. And you would wake up and like see nothing. Like things would be back to normal.
Yeah. Or I'd be in bed.
Okay. Okay.
Yeah. Fast forward, I'm 21, graduating college, and I'm at dinner with my dad, my sister, my brother. Somehow the conversation of reoccurring nightmares comes up. And so I start saying this one and like a couple of other reoccurring nightmares I've had.
My dad drops us off at like a grad party, you know, going to drink the whole night away. But I get a text and he's like, "Hey, do you have time tomorrow to like chat before I fly home because something you said tonight
14:00
happened in real life? Like it wasn't a dream." Oh, and I was like, "Excuse me, politely. What the fuck?" Um,
you're like, "Which [ __ ] recurring nightmare?
Which one are you talking about?" And he goes, "Yeah, that dream you had about the like black and white orbs fighting over your sister happened in real life."
Cuz so he saw that.
So he one night woke up again. We had just moved into the house. He had fallen asleep on the couch watching TV and he woke up to a weird sound.
Okay.
He thinks it's the TV, turns it off. He starts like going down the house. It's late at night.
This is this scene. You're You're really setting this scene. Well, this is exactly also I met him at a bar and he orders a bloody mary and I was like this is so person it so he starts going through like the downstairs make sure the doors are closed like windows are locked and he starts heading upstairs to go to bed.
Okay.
But as he's climbing the stairs upstairs he just gets that feeling that like someone else is in the house
that shouldn't be.
Yeah.
Like that hair raising feeling.
So he climbs up the stairs. My bedroom's right there. He checks on me. I'm asleep in bed.
Okay.
He checks on my mom. She's asleep and he
15:00
starts going down the hallway towards my sister's room and like he's like it just starts getting colder,
stop.
And like my instincts are like, "Run."
Oh my god.
But obviously my sister's sleeping over there.
He's like, "My daughter is right there."
My six-year-old child.
So he goes to her room.
She was six at the time.
Yeah, she was six.
Oh my god.
He touches the door handle and he said it was ice cold.
Opens the door, said that like all the air was sucked out of the room. My sister is laying in bed asleep. He takes one step towards her and she's laying there, eyes closed, asleep. Her mouth starts moving and a deep guttural voice comes out and says, "Get out,
brother." [laughter] Like, "Look at my arm, right? What the fuck?" Parents do that kind of [ __ ] Like, I want to have kids someday. And I'm like, how horrifying.
I don't know that I'm built for like that kind of paranormal experience.
Like, right. Like, I'd be like, "Okay, I will get out. You're good."
I just watched Paranormal Activity, too. Like the one that focuses on the baby. I was like, "Well, I just feel like I loved him,
but he all
What am I going to do?"
16:00
That's so [ __ ] Ew.
So scary.
So, what did he do?
So, he goes up to He's like, "I'm not going to get out."
Yeah. He's like, "Well, this is horrifying."
She went to bed. He's like, "See you later. My sister's still possessed." They say, [laughter]
he goes up to her and he like grabs a hold of her and he's like, "Leave my daughter alone."
Okay.
And also, my dad is a complicated person. He has so many hauntings and stuff that he's experienced in his life. So he's like, "This is not my first rodeo with a demon. I've got this." Yeah. He is like, "Leave my daughter alone." Wakes her up. She's fine. Confused. Like, "Why are you waking me up, [ __ ] Like, I'm trying to sleep." Yeah. Had a good dream.
I was in like Hawaii because this demon took over my body.
Yeah. You know,
um, so then he like picked her up and went to turn and take her to sleep in his in bed with my mom and him.
And I was sleepwalking like I was standing at the doorway.
Stop it. So you saw all of that, but like I was interpreted like Yeah. as like good and evil fighting over my sister.
So the good was your dad and then the evil was like the demon. So then did you guys have more experiences living there?
17:00
Like
So my dad got the house.
Did she just sleep in her [ __ ] room the next night? [laughter]
I I don't know. They got the house blessed after that.
Okay.
And then we did have a mom and son like good spirits in the house. Like my brother when he was born would wake up crying all the time being like, "Mom, tell the little boy I don't want to play. I'm trying to sleep."
His toys would go off. And then there was a closet in our basement that we were all scared of. And we kind of think that when the house got blessed, like whatever that dark energy was just got like sequestered to the closet.
Well, you got to bless the closets, too.
Yeah.
Damn.
I'm always curious like if the current family has anything happened.
Have you ever reached out?
No.
Like, do you want to be on my podcast?
Yeah. Should I knock on the door one day be like, "Hey, I used to live here with a with a microphone." Do you experience any hauntings in this house?
Hi, my name is Sabrina and I am here today. I'm here on the streets of [laughter] Branchburg, New Jersey.
Oh my god. Just boots on the ground journalism. I think you should I think that's like a book like I used to live here.
There is um Marcus Glue.
Yeah, it's on my TBR.
We used to live here
or Yeah. Right. TBR.
Yeah. We're actually for our book club
18:00
reading The Caretaker by him and he's going to come join our book club. So excited.
That's cool.
Okay. Should we read our stories?
Yes.
I'm going to start. Yeah.
ghost caught on camera: my haunted house
Okay. This is called Ghost Caught on Camera, My Haunted House.
Okay.
From our listener, Rebecca. And the video is so scary. I think it's amazing.
Okay.
But it is scary in the sense that catching anything on camera is a little scary.
It's my worst fear. That's why I don't have cameras inside. I have them outside.
Yeah. But I also want to see like I want to know, you know? It's like the sick fascination.
No, I get it.
Yeah. Okay. But the story is also kind of sad.
Okay.
Hey, ghostly girls. My name is Rebecca. I'm from Australia. I found your podcast this year and I've been binging it non-stop. I had to share a video of a ghost I caught on camera while filming a vlog in my bedroom. So, some backstory. I've always felt connected to the spirit world, and I have lots of paranormal stories to share with you guys, including when I saw the hatman.
Oh, not the hatman.
Terrifying. I moved into my partner's house, now my fiance's, when I was about 18 years old, and we lived there with
19:00
his dad and sister, and this house was 100% haunted.
Fun.
Until recently, we would frequently hear wooden chairs being dragged downstairs. We'd hear someone walking up and down the stairs, doors being opened and closed, waking up at 3:00 a.m., and other spooky things that I'll share later. It's very paranormal activity.
It's very paranormal activity. Yeah.
Years ago, my partner's dad sadly passed away unexpectedly inside our house. He was such a great person, and we miss him dearly. We've taken care of the house since then, and the paranormal events really did seem to calm down a lot after he passed away. I feel like he kicked out any bad spirits from the house after he passed.
Hell yeah. On two occasions after he passed, I walked into a room and had a strong sense that he was in the room and wanted time alone. So, I would leave the room and let him have time in the space. Eventually, my partner and I moved into his bedroom, which definitely felt weird at first, but over time, everything settled. And around this time, I started a YouTube channel. I would make vlogs about my day, about gardening, DIY crafts. Looking back, they were kind of cringey, so I've since made my account
20:00
private. However, this is how I caught a ghost on camera. I would sometimes film in the bedroom while sitting on the bed. I would sit facing the window so the lighting wouldn't be too bright. And I would close the curtains and leave them open only about an inch to get a small amount of lighting. I can't even remember what I was talking about. But an hour or two after filming, I started to go back to edit the video, and that's when I saw it. While editing, I noticed my dog, Eevee, jumped off the bed and start staring at the wall.
Ew. I went back to watch it again, and that is when I saw a huge shadow of a person walking out of the walk-in closet, out of the bedroom door, and if you watch carefully, you can see the legs walking and its arms moving.
Stop it.
Eevee notices the shadow, runs over to the wall. I truly had a physical reaction when I saw it. I started shaking and quickly thought there must have been an intruder in the house, but that was impossible. I was home alone while filming. The doors were closed in the bedroom, and obviously I would have noticed if someone was in the room with me. Yeah, unfortunately since this is years ago, I don't have the original
21:00
uncut video, but I have the small section of the video which I've sent to so many friends and believe me, it's 100% real. The shadow does look really tall, but I think it's my partner's dad and that he continues to protect this house to this day.
Oh,
okay. So, I'll show you the video.
I love that if it's your partner's dad.
No. And it's so clear.
Well, it's interesting that like she didn't get a bad feeling like while it happened. Like, didn't even realize it was happening. I also love that it's like he's like supporting you vlogging. Yeah.
He's like, "Go girl."
So, there's no sound on the video, but Oh, watch it.
Oh, wait. Then you see the dog go after it.
Yep. Oh, isn't that That's crystal clear, brother. You see the full body?
Yeah. That literally just looks like a guy walks by.
It's wild. It's weird, too, cuz there's like an after effect on the shadow. You know what I mean? See, like
this looks like two people walking together. like side by side.
Interesting. But I'm also like, you know, sometimes when you're sh the way light hits a shadow or hits a person,
22:00
you have like two shadows.
Yeah,
that's actually a good I don't know.
That definitely looks like two shadows to me cuz one almost looks like it's slightly ahead of the other. But maybe it's just the way that the light is.
I mean, the way the dog like immediately is like, "What the fuck?"
Trust your pets.
But it again, the dog doesn't seem like upset.
It's almost excited. Yeah.
I'm like, "Hey."
Yeah. Someone's here.
Oh, maybe it was your father-in-law. I think so.
I like that.
But isn't that like so clear?
Yeah. No, that's crystal clear.
Yeah,
that's really scary.
It's wild,
but also like beautiful.
I am of the mindset that yes, a lot of paranormal experiences can be scary, but I especially in a situation like this where you think it's the father of of your partner. Like, I would love to catch
Oh, yeah.
my grandma's ghost or my grandfather's ghost.
That'd be sick.
No, I totally agree with that. But then it also freaks me out because it's like in every scary movie it's like I'm your grandma and then it's not your grandma. Even in Paranormal Activity it's like I'm your mother. That part [ __ ] me up
23:00
with the with the box.
Hate it.
So good but so bad.
That's the thing.
Yeah.
Rula
I don't know about you, but this most recent Mercury retrograde hit me hard. And I was so grateful that I had therapy because my gosh did I need to talk through some things. And I also know there are so many people who are looking for therapy but feel bogged down or overwhelmed by the fact that they can't find a therapist that takes their insurance or it just feels expensive or overwhelming. But that is why we love RULA. RULA does things differently. They partner with over 100 insurance plans, making the average co-ay just $15 per session. That's real therapy from licensed professionals at a price that actually makes sense. And what I really love too is that it supports every aspect of your mental health journey. So from therapy to medication management, which is important for me because I am on medication. They have a diverse network of licensed experienced professionals and rules therapists and psychiatrists make it easy for you to get the care you need. You can also find the right therapist for you with RULA based on your needs, your preferences,
24:00
and state requirements. Thousands of people are already using RULA to get affordable, highquality therapy that's actually covered by insurance. Visit rua.com/tg to get started. That's rua.com/tggo because you deserve mental health care that works with you and not against your budget.
do you believe in ghosts?
Okay. Are you ready for mine?
I am.
All right. So, this is from a listener to Morbid, but we're repurposing it. We haven't read this on Morbid. This is from Melissa. It's a little bit long.
It's called, "Do you believe in ghosts?" And the answer,
"Do you believe in magic?"
Yeah.
So, my father died when I was 15 and my mom when I was 29. Too early, for sure. I've always told them to please not haunt me because I would be too scared. So, they feel the opposite for me.
Yeah. Everyone's like, I don't want this. Yeah. [laughter] I let them know that if they felt they needed to connect with me that they could contact me in my dreams, which my dad did. He introduced me to a gardener in a greenhouse that I would meet years later. But I never called on them or encouraged any of my family and friends who passed to contact me.
25:00
Wait, they had a dream introduction to someone and they actually met them later.
That's what it sounds like. Yeah. I love that kind of stuff, too.
That's so cool. Or like have you ever we've done stories before where like people have met in like um like those astral projection worlds and then they meet years later
in real life. Yeah.
That's wild.
That's so cool.
That feels like soulmate [ __ ]
I was just going to say we've read some that it's like um like love stories.
Yes.
They make me cry every time.
Same. And I'm like where's mine?
I know. You're like [laughter] you need to start astral projecting.
Almost romantic. Like give me my give me my future spouse.
Such a Sabrina later tonight just like come to me. [laughter] But I never called on them or encouraged any of my friends and family who passed to contact me. I was just too afraid, honestly, that they would keep me up at night or shake my bed or jump out at me in the dark and I would literally [ __ ] my literal pants. However, an experience I had last year changed my entire point of view on ghosts forever.
Ooh.
My good buddy Rosalia Triana went to the hospital in November of 2023. She was 76 and had decided not to pursue any further medical care.
I rushed to visit her while she was
26:00
still talking and came back every day. She was moved to hospice and continued to smile and laugh as droves of people came to visit her. As an actor in New York, she was a stand-in for Sharon Moonruck.
What a amazing human.
Like what a That's the best brag ever. I would never stop telling people that.
Yeah.
She loved teaching theater to kids who needed someone to accept them for who they were. And she also did past life regressions. I want to do one of those so bad. Have you done one?
Brian Weiss has videos on He's the author of Many Lives, Many Masters. He has YouTube videos with where he like does the hypnosis like talks you through it.
Stop.
Karin, I think has tried it.
Yeah, cuz Karin talks about her past life a lot where like her in the past life like she was her mom.
Oh, so she's the mom and like her mom was her kid.
Yeah. It's like how come you're the mom now?
Yeah.
Yeah. That's crazy to me. I love that.
I want to do one, but I feel like I would want to do it like in person. Like I don't feel I don't feel up for the task of
Right. It's too much work for yourself. Yeah. And I want it all to be recorded. Yeah.
And I would need someone to sit next
27:00
like I would need Karin to be next to me like an anchor.
Yeah. And to like also then regurgitate to me what happened.
Yeah. Yeah. I get that. I love that we're like codependent on our podcast [laughter] partners cuz me and Elena are the same way.
I'm like I can't do anything without you.
No, that's exactly how I feel. But then I feel like I can do things with you.
Yeah. Exactly.
With the brothers.
The brothers. Yeah.
Okay. She also did past life regressions. Some with people who became famous or were famous in another life.
Wa.
This girl was a wicked and witchy. We met in film school and immediately gravitated toward each other. She dyed her hair purple and wore purple clothes. Everyone knew her as the purple lady. As the days passed and she became less responsive, I started reading to her from the book of natural liberation, translated by Robert Thurman, aka the Tibetan Book of the Dead, or what I like to call Bardau for dummies. That's cool.
That is really cool. She had read it to a friend when she sat by his deathbed, so I felt like she might like somebody to read it to her.
So sweet.
That's very sweet. Wow.
Yeah. The book is full of instructions on how to help the recently dead navigate the in between and not fall into a super bad rebirth.
28:00
So, which like read if I die first, read that to me on my desk.
I'm like I feel like this is like the Beetlejuice handbook, too.
Yeah. Like um Oh, what is that called?
Um book of the is it just the
book of the book recently deisted? Yeah, I said deist. [laughter] Deceased. Uh, so on a very snowy New Mexico night when I got the call that she had passed, I rushed to her side, ready to help her on her journey. I hopped in my car and spun up my driveway on icy pavement in a mild panic. I forgot all the instructions from the book and called out the first thing that came to me. Go toward the light. As if I was Phoebe and friends. I immediately course corrected and said, "Go toward the bright light. That's you. You made the light and you need to recognize that it is you." Calmer, I aimed a thought at Rosa and said in a regular voice, "This is ridiculous, right?" I heard her answer. What the [ __ ] Let's do it anyway. When I walked into her hospice room, I dropped my backpack on a chair and walked up to her bed. She looked the same as when I'd left her that afternoon, except of course she wasn't breathing. I bent down and I said in a strong voice, "Dear I'm
29:00
going to cry.
Dear Rosalia, you beautiful girl. It's Melissa. I love you. You have just died and this might be confusing to you, but you're safe. You have people to help you.
You're a good friend."
This is like Everybody needs this friend. The brothers will do this
for sure. As we were just talking about like sitting next to each other for past life readings, like we'll do this death beds, too.
100%. Look at the tears in your eyes. [laughter] I feel the same. Uh, you have people here to help you where you are, and I'll help you, too. We'll say some prayers together. Don't be afraid. I watched her chest and I thought I saw her heart beating. I looked around behind me at the hospice nurse and asked, "She is dead, right?" They confirmed she was. I put my hand on her forehead and it was still warm. The nurse left us alone and I read out loud the passages from natural liberation for one who has just died. Parts of those prayers are so amazingly direct and beautiful. Hey noble one, now you have arrived at what is called death. You are going from this world to the beyond. You are not alone. It happens to everyone at this time when your body and mind are
30:00
parting ways. Pure reality manifests in subtle, dazzling visions, vividly experienced, naturally frightening and worrisome shimmering like a mirage on the plains in autumn. Do not fear them. Do not be terrified. Do not panic. They cannot hurt you. You cannot die. That is like one of the most beautiful things I've ever read.
Yeah. When I finished reading all the prayers, I told her I loved her, tears flowing now. I named all the people I could remember in that moment who had been her family and her friends in this life. And I told her they loved her and that I expected to see her in the next life or I would be pissed. I moved closer to her, bent down again, kissed my fingers, and touched her forehead. This time, her skin was cool. As I turned to go, I felt her presence behind me floating like a balloon on a string. I felt the string in my fingers. I turned back, but she still lay in bed. Rosa, I said, "You can follow me around the hospice, but once they take your body away, I'm going to let you go. You need to find your way on your own. I'll say prayers for you everyday, but you cannot linger here." When the transport came, they covered her body in a beautiful native blanket. As they passed
31:00
through the hallway, I followed the stretcher out into the cold, moonlight night. 23 days later on Christmas Eve, my sister and I went to the Faralito walk in Santa Fe, our annual tradition, the old neighborhood decorates pads, garden walls, and rooftops with candles and paper bags waited down by sand to reenact the journey Mary and Joseph made in Bethlehem. Canyon Road galleries offer cider, biscuits, which are yummy bakery cookies,
and bonfires. People sing carols and walk up the street and sometimes get a glimpse of Santa.
So magical. I love how magical this this listener's life is.
No, truly. And the way that they write is like very beautiful.
I'm like, do you want to be best friends?
Yeah. [laughter] I feel like you wrote a book that I could like step inside of.
100%. I also want to get that book that they mentioned.
Yes.
Like moving into the deceased life.
Yeah.
Uh we took the less touristy road Delgato and turned down Plaza Fatimo where in years past the courtyard was home to a model train decked out for Christmas riding the tracks under the
32:00
pinion trees. Wow. This night, there was no train, but there was a bonfire in the middle of the courtyard. My sister started taking photos of the scene with her phone, and we scrolled through a few, looking at them curiously. I walked to the fire to warm my hands, and she started taking pics again. "I think there's something wrong with my camera," she said. I moved to the other side of the fire, away from the smoke, and she raised her phone to take one final shot. She said, "I'm getting some interesting images here." So, I bent my right knee and held out my left hand, tilted my head back, and laughed like a silly pose on a theater stage. On our way home, we stopped at a hotel for two Irish coffees to warm up. Delish. Yeah. I need to look at those photos again, she said and took off her gloves. Oh my, she said in a very solemn way, and she handed me her phone. Just swipe through these, she directed. It was easy for me to see what she saw. An orb of light, sometimes with a face, sometimes with hands, shown in the first photo on the left side. In the next photos, it moved from standing next to the tree up into the branches, settled on the bush behind the fire and came even closer as if to kiss me on my
33:00
cheek in my last pose. And the orb was purple. Neither of us could speak. It was undeniable that it was Roselia coming to say goodbye. I'll cry. As I looked closer, I could see the background was always the same, even through the ghost. I thought it might be the smoke from the bonfire, but the smoke was clearly not part of the orbs and can be seen moving back and forth in each photo on either side of the fire as the wind moved it. There are no other people in the photos. No street lights shining, no cars with their lights on. As a professional designer, I photoshopped a hell of a lot of photos, but no one had time to do that with these. These were raw and unlike any orb photos I'd ever seen. And I'll we'll show you the pictures.
Yeah, it's purple was all I could say. And that was when I started to believe, maybe not in ghosts per se, but in an energetic appearance that although can't be seen by others, can be seen in a series of photos.
Since then, I've invited ghosts, specters, phantoms, fairies, pixies, spirits, shades, laurs, my ancestors, and even people I don't know yet into a
34:00
circle on a regular basis.
I love that you just became like open to it.
This email starts with like, "I didn't want any of it. Close the door." Yeah,
I still tell them very clearly that they don't get to jump out at me in the dark or my books across the room. Only my cat gets to do that. But I listen to them. I ask for their guidance and acknowledge that there are some things we don't understand yet don't have to ignore.
This is beautiful.
These pictures are crazy. Hold on.
Also, for everyone listening, these will all be included in the YouTube video. So,
perfect. Ready? So, look, there is the first. And it's like straight up purple. And it almost looks like there's like like I kind of see like a face right here. And then it moves a little bit. And again, this almost looks like a body.
It does. Oh my god.
There's so many. And then it moves up into the tree and it like that looks like energy to me.
And is purple.
Yeah. And then it kind of like dissipates here.
35:00
This is beautiful. And it moves over above the sign and then like right over her and then right on top kissing her cheek and look at you can literally see. Isn't that crazy? That's zoomed in.
My gosh.
Like maybe even giving a hug.
And that's she's beautiful.
Beautiful.
Oh, and your cat.
And your little kitty cat.
So, we'll we'll share these.
Yeah. Wait, that is amazing.
That's also undeniable to me to for it to move in so many different areas,
right? And also for it to this is like what I love too because like the purple hair was such a big part of Rosalia. Like it's just the fact that that's how she's showing up in the ash right
astral afterlife whatever it is
cuz she like like dyed her hair purple and always wore purple clothes like she was the purple lady that's like her essence.
So that hit her on like a soul level I think. Isn't that so beautiful?
That's one of my favorite listener stories we've ever read.
That's beautiful.
Right. Yeah. We both were also talking
36:00
about in the beginning of this episode about how scary paranormal things can be and why you like don't want to open yourself up to it, but like you can have things like this happen.
I know it's true. It's like you have to be in the right head space, I think. You know,
yeah,
you just have to be open to it. Right now, I'm too busy.
Yeah, I have too much going on.
I have no no time for the ghost. Yeah, I have too much time, but I don't need the ghosts.
Yeah, you you have a lot going on. You have free time, but a lot going on.
Yeah, I would I would invite Leia. Like ghost kitty cat. Oh,
I actually do. Like I often every time I walk into my house I'm like Leia you like you're still this is still your home.
I think her spirit is absolutely still there.
I haven't had anything happen yet.
You hear like her little phantom meow. I loved I still do.
No. Me too.
I know. Do you have her?
Um I do not. I have um like a little like cast paw print.
Oh cool.
And I have an ink nose print.
Oh my god. A little
And then when I find little like toughs of hair, I've been putting it into a jar.
I keep my cat's whiskers. So
I know. I wish I I feel like I'll find a whisker and I'll keep it.
Or even like a little nail clipping like the you know how they like shove them.
37:00
You'll find something. Yeah. But I have a jar of hair which and she had plenty of it. So wait, I have these little cat keychains. I'll I'll look and see if I have one like her, but they're literally to put hair in.
No way.
Yeah, I'm a crazy cat lady.
Yeah. I mean, you know.
Yeah, same. Yeah. [laughter]
A That's cute.
Yeah.
little girl ghost in photo
Okay. I have one that we've read on the podcast like two or three times.
Okay. But I just needed to get your reaction to it because it is and I talk about this all the time. Anytime we encounter someone who's like, "I don't believe or like oh you have a ghost podcast like tell me a ghost story."
That makes me so mad when people say they don't believe. I'm like there's too much evidence.
There's also so many people who like say they don't believe and then they'll tell me a story that's like very clearly they've been haunted.
Yeah. Or they'll say they don't believe but that they're afraid of it. And I'm like how are you afraid of something that you don't believe in? Right.
That doesn't make sense to me.
So like you really believe and you're scared of it. That's what you mean to say but you're Yeah. Yeah. I do think some of the skeptics are actually the biggest believers and they're just
and they're just scared.
Yeah.
Yeah. But so this is the story that I whip out. Okay. [clears throat] It's It's on my phone. It's ready to go.
38:00
You just got it.
Content warning. It does involve a child's death.
Okay.
Hi ladies. Warning. I'm attaching a picture and it might scare you for months or break your heart. My coworker and I are We read this in 2018 for the first time. It is now 2026.
Okay.
It has stuck with us.
That's a big deal.
Yeah. My coworker and I are writing this together. Her fiance's family went fishing at Smith Point County Park in Long Island, New York. One of the men caught a big shark, so they took a picture. This was taken around midnight, and at some point, someone noticed that there was a little girl in the picture, but there were no children on the beach with them.
Okay,
this little girl is looking at the men like, "Why are you here? What are you doing?" She sadly also looks burnt and dirty. They did some research and realized that Smith Point Beach was the site of TWWA Flight 800 explosion that happened in 1996.
Oh [ __ ]
They took the picture to a medium and before they even sat down, the medium said, "I don't want to talk about the
39:00
picture you're going to show me."
Oh my god. I would want to sit with that lady for hours after I real.
Oh my god.
Supposedly, this beach is so haunted mediums will not go near it.
Wow. The ghosts that inhabit the beach do not know they are no longer living. And my coworker and I did some research of our work. We believe we found who the little girl is.
Wow.
We believe she was the youngest victim in the explosion. I'm not going to say her name out of respect. Um, but I've attached her picture for you as well, which I won't share that, but I'll show the picture of that they caught.
Yeah. Yeah. The paranormal picture
is from Nikki and Britney.
I'm so scared.
So, this is the photo of them holding the shark. That's not even an apparition.
It's like full on.
Oh my god.
And she's looking directly at them.
She's also like dressed like she's like traveling. Like you can see her little sneakers.
Yeah. And then
Oh my god. Oh,
like
Yeah. Is that not her?
That's absolutely Oh, that's
40:00
heartbreaking. Cuz I don't want her to be stuck in
there. It's so sad. I mean, it's devastating and like that tragic crash. I mean like any plane crash or like tragic death like that is horrible.
But I hope cuz she was with her family. So I hope that she's still with them and not fall there. Like that some type of peace.
That's like a paranormal episode of Lost where you're just like stuck where you crashed.
That's awful.
It's awful.
You want them to You want somebody to read that book to them and get them to like go to the light.
Let's go to the beach and read the book to them.
Yeah. Honestly.
Oh,
see this is why I wish I had more time because I would do that.
I know. Like
you're such an empath. [laughter] I love that. I'm like, "Oh, let me bring this book that I don't even own yet. I just learned about
and travel to the most haunted beach that even mediums won't go to so I can help people."
Yeah. Just sit there for hours reading it to them.
I mean, fair enough. That is Yeah.
One of the craziest photos I've actually ever seen cuz that's not again an apparition. That's a That's a full child. Oh
yeah.
And she does look like a little bit
41:00
burned. Like Oh, that's horrific.
Yeah.
Yeah. That's really scary.
Yeah. It's August and I don't know about

ghost photo from neighbor's haunted house
All right, so this one is from our listener Katie. and they said, "I've thought about submitting this before, but decided that now is the perfect time because this story and the photo that resulted from it are about to turn 10 years old."
Oh. So then they sent a little pifa for us, a PDF.
A pifa.
I've been fascinated by the paranormal for as long as I could remember. Probably because my Grammy told me ghost stories when I was a kid.
My favorite I You Everybody needs a spooky grandma. I can't wait to be a spooky grandma.
I was just going to say I don't know that I had a spooky grandma, but I I'm the spooky person in my family. Yeah, you are. My grandma's not spooky, but she's very woo and like always has been.
And she's like, you know, give it to the wind, talk to the spirits.
43:00
Oh my god, that's fairies. We would go on like bear hunts, like not real ones, but we'd like walk through the woods and like look at for fairies and stuff.
Wait, that's so special.
Yeah, she's the best.
Love.
I think that's why I'm so woo.
Yeah.
And also the ghost that you saw reading a book in your bedroom.
Yeah. Uh, my favorite was about the time her father saw a ghost in his house because he had been a diehard skeptic before his experience and used to scoff at others who claimed to believe in the paranormal. He was tough as nails, nononsense Navy veteran who survived every major battle.
Damn.
In the Pacific World War II.
That's crazy. And several heart attacks because he liked to fry his pancakes in bacon grease.
What?
That's like a southern thing.
Is it?
Yeah. I've been watching True Blood and they do that on True Blood and it's supposed to be like really delish.
I It's not for me. Not for me either. I don't eat bacon. So,
I was going to say you're vegetarian, so that's your worst nightmare. [laughter]
I thought uh if that guy believes in ghosts, then they must be real. And I longed to have an encounter of my own. There was something about the notion that there's more to the world than we can see that comforted me and enchanted
44:00
me. I finally got my encounter when I was 17. It was a Sunday and my parents had lucked out that weekend. My younger brother and I had both uh gone to sleepovers at other people's houses. My mom picked me up first since I was farther away and we stopped to get my brother on the way home. He was a/4 mile up the street from our house, but it was a cold, wet February day, so she wasn't going to make him walk. Some context on the house he slept over at. It was built before the American Revolution and has one of those historical society plaques certifying that it is old as [ __ ] next to the door.
Love that.
I know. I would love to have one of those.
You had one of those.
I know. That makes my heart.
I know. That house was amazing. I never got to actually visit. I saw pictures.
That's also so sad. But the cheetah staircase.
I know. My uncle has one of those actually. Yeah.
Well,
I think it was like a thing.
It's It I loved it.
I want a cheetah stair staircase.
You can You can make that do this staircase.
Maybe I will for my main staircase. Cheetah.
That'd be sick.
Yeah, that's also very you.
I love cheetah. I love animal print.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's on brand.
45:00
Um it's so old this this house that allegedly the earliest residents of the house were actually buried in the backyard.
Whoa. Some context on my mom.
I want to bring that back.
Burying people in the
backyard. I don't own a house yet, but like or anymore, but when I do, I want to be buried in my backyard.
In some states, you can, so you should do research. Some states, it's a big no no.
Like, I want like an Adam's family graveyard in my backyard.
I would love that,
right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't think that I can do that here.
People also don't keep houses long enough or they don't get passed down through families anymore.
Yeah. It's not like
it's not the way it used to be.
Like, I think it would be weird if I was buried in the backyard and then got to a different family.
Like, hey, hey. [laughter] That's kind of like a great origin story as a ghost, though. Who are you?
Uh, some context on my mom. My brother and I knew that when she came to pick us up from a friend's house, we had at least another hour to hang out because she'd chat with our friend's mom. That was the best
love. That day, I decided to stick around for the mom chat because everybody else who was in the house at the time was under the age of 12 and all but one were boys. This detail becomes important later. We'll call my brother's
46:00
friend's mom, Stephanie. I don't remember how we got on the topic, but she did tell us her house was haunted. When we responded with belief and interest, she started telling us stories. Just remember being like 12 years old and hang out with like your mom and her friends and being like, "Yeah, I'm one of the girls."
I never got invited.
Really?
Yeah. I grew up in a very like go be in your room. Mama's busy household.
Yeah. See, my mom was a single mom and I think she just like she wasn't like a great mom, so she was just like, "Yeah, listen to all the girl talk." And I was like, "Okay, girl. This is what you're going to do."
And now you yap. Like we're learning your origin story. It all makes sense. I am a yapper. Yeah, I was very um
what's that word for like kids who are like beyond their years but like kind of annoying. I can't think of it. Start with a P.
I don't know. She's very I can't think of it. I'll think of it later. Yeah.
Or Jamie will like add it if she like knows what we're talking about.
This is what you need.
Uh before moving into the house, Stephanie and her husband lived in an apartment building with their three older children, one of whom was about 3
47:00
years old at the time. They explained to her that since they were moving into a house, not another apartment, it would be just the five of them there. They hadn't been in the house long when their daughter said, "I thought you said this house was just for us." Confused, they asked her what she meant. And she responded, "You know, the people who come out of the fireplace."
What?
See, that's a version of a creepy kid I'd be down with. You know,
they're not like screaming in the middle of the night.
Yeah. Elena's had experiences like that with the girls. Honestly, much more terrifying. But like, who are those people? And she's like, "Fuck." like I got to deal with this. But of course, Elena has creepy kids.
I mean, duh. It was just a given.
The youngest is the creepiest, but we love that girl. Uh they asked her to elaborate on that butthole tightening statement and she said that three people often walked out of the fireplace. An older couple and a young man with no shoes, as you two would say.
Out of the fireplace. Out of the fireplace. Yeah. As you two would say, meaning me and Alina. Time to yeet the whole child and burn the house down. In spite of that deeply [ __ ] up welcome to the neighborhood, they settled into
48:00
the house and had more children, including my brother's friend. Stephanie spent close to two hours telling us about their experience in that house. Some darker than others. I'll include some summaries. Love one. There's the ghost of an old groundskeeper who goes around at night rattling windows to make sure everything's locked up.
Wait, now I want to know. Like I want to see this house cuz clearly it has such a rich history.
Yeah, clearly. And I'm like, tell me everything. Let's investigate this. Can we come over?
Wait. Great. [laughter] We're going to stop at the beach, read the book, and then we'll come to your house.
We're just coming up with a full-blown itinerary through this episode,
hopping in a van, driving around. Perfect.
Number two. One day, Stephanie was running errands around the time school let out, but her son had a key and would be able to let himself in. When she got home, she found him sitting on the porch in tears. He wasn't locked out, but he didn't want to be inside because he said he had seen a boy who looked dead float across the kitchen and through the door into the garage. I would [ __ ] my pants. That's what I mean when I say I don't have time for this right now. I don't have time to process
like I genuinely right now. Maybe in the
49:00
future, but I don't need to see a dead boy floating through the the house into my garage.
I would be like, "What the [ __ ] did I just see?"
I actually made Drew come down to the garage to get me after Paranormal Activity [laughter] because I was so scared.
Like this would be too much for me.
That's hilarious.
Uh, number three. Speaking of the garage, one day a headstone too weather to read just appeared in their basement.
What? It has a dirt floor which is supposed to let in all kinds of energy. A psychic friend told them that the spirit of a man had put it there. So,
it just appeared.
It just appeared. A headstone that they couldn't read. That's giving cursed energy.
That's crazy. Stephanie's husband moved it to their garage where I saw it with my own shook as [ __ ] eyes that very day. I'm like, why'd you move it to the garage? Okay. I was just in Kenny Bunkport, Maine, and I went on a ghost tour and at the public library, there's a like full ass head like tombstone just like built into the brick wall.
Why?
And the story is they found this headstone in a farm like on farmland
50:00
like many years ago.
Yeah.
I guess the guy there was no like body or anything beneath it. It was just like a engraved headstone. And I think the guy who it was for used to like teach students and all he was like a very like smart generous guy. Yeah.
So they just were like what better place to honor him than on the public library. And I was like that is so sick.
That kind of is sick. I feel like I'd be very like I feel so complimented.
Right. Like so for the situation I'd be like okay let's build like build it into the wall.
Yeah. But you don't know anything about this person. So like
Yeah. There's nothing on there.
It it's too weathered to read. So that's like really [ __ ] up. Yeah. I don't know what what would you do with it if like a weathered headstone just appeared in your home.
You'd be I would be like so I would pull out Ghost Tube like what's up? What's your story? I also would take it as a sign that they want to be recognized or they have a message. So I would honor it.
Yeah, I agree with that. I don't know
51:00
what I would do. I would honor it for sure, but maybe like not at my house. I'd get a storage facility [laughter]
for all your haunted objects. Perfect. Okay, number four. This one sucks. A man in a brown suit likes to stand around corners and behind doors to scare people.
What?
Trigger warning for rape and [clears throat] incest here.
He may have, according to a psychic, fathered a child with his own daughter. The spirit of this child, a little girl, wanted to play with Stephanie's youngest daughter who asked Stephanie if she had to keep playing with the girl because she was so scared of her,
which is so sad.
I hate this man.
Yeah. Let's get Let's bring him back to life and kill him all over again. Yeah.
And the little girl, she just wants to play, but she's like scary.
That's how my little brother was where he was like, "Tell the little boy I don't want to play. I'm kind of scared. I'm sleeping."
Oh. Does he remember that?
No.
No. Cuz he's so little.
Yeah.
Does he have any experiences that he remembers from your house? Your spooky house.
Um, no. He used to have a reoccurring nightmare of that one closet,
but No. I'm the creepy one of my family. I
52:00
love that. And you're the middle child, right?
The middle child.
Yeah. That's perfect.
I don't think I was that creepy growing up, but I slowly the creep.
Yeah. Yeah. All right. Number
Someone has to do it.
Yeah. You know, it's got to be someone.
Yeah.
Number five. Stephanie once tried to email a crew of paranormal investigators, but her computer shut down unexpectedly while trying to type it. She restarted, found the website again, started retyping her email, and the computer shut down again, and the entire desk was violently shoved against the wall. She never tried to contact anyone. [laughter]
So, maybe we should not go.
Yeah, maybe. They're like, "Leave us be." They're not interested in in an investig. Maybe they didn't like that group of investigators.
Maybe
I believe the paranormal world like there's like gossip about different investigators.
Like if they hear Zach Bagens is coming, they're like
[ __ ]
Get out of here.
Yeah.
Honestly, as a ghost, I'd be like, "Fuck that. Get him out of here.
I don't want to be here."
Cuz he like tries to piss ghosts off to like get something.
I also feel like whatever dark energy happens in the episodes isn't because of
53:00
the ghost at the place.
It's his energy. I have a lot of comments that I'm going to keep to myself.
All we have to say is fumbled Holly Madison.
I [clears throat] was literally just going to say justice for my friend Holly. My close personal friend Holly. Okay. Holly.
Yes.
All right. Number six. Once an electrician came to work on the wiring in the basement. Within minutes, he came flying up the stairs, packed his stuff, and left. Like, no words, no nothing. He refused to come back and wouldn't say what happened to him down there. 10 out of 10. No notes. This would be a fantastic scene in a horror movie. [laughter] By this point in the conversation, I felt like somebody was watching me. The kids were all upstairs in the kitchen. It was just me, my mom to my right, and Stephanie in front of us. But it did feel like there was a fourth person standing directly behind me looking over my shoulder.
I told myself I was just psyched out because I was hearing this all for the first time. But still, I couldn't shake the feeling. Finally, the moms decided it was time to round up the kids. So, they went back upstairs to break up the party. While I stayed alone in the kitchen, I decided to take some some pictures with my iPhone. I wasn't sure if anything would show up, but it was my
54:00
first #confirmed haunted location. So,
yeah. You just got so many great stories. You're like, "Yeah, absolutely."
I mean, ghost two probably wasn't a thing back then, but I would have pulled that [ __ ] up
for sure.
So, I thought, "Might as well try." The kitchen was fairly large, and as the center of the downstairs, it had doorways to multiple other rooms, including the garage. So, I just turned in a circle, snapping pictures every few feet. By the time I was done, my mom had collected my brother, and the three of us got back in our car, safely on the road. I mentioned my feeling of being watched to my mom. Once we got home, we started examining the pictures. I can't remember exactly how many I took, but only one of them contained something. It was a picture of the door next to the garage. The door had a window with nine panes of glass, rectangles arranged three across by three high. So, I zoomed in on each pane to see if anything besides typical garage clutter was visible. When I zoomed in on the middle pane on the far right, my mom gasped and I felt my bowels drop out of my butt and hit the floor at my feet. Cleanse your colon. Cleanse that colon. Maybe just with the paranormal.
To the very far right of the pain, right
55:00
where the glass meets the wood of the door, you can see my reflection, my eyes, my nose, my dark hair, even my hand holding the phone. But just to the left, directly behind me, is a floating head. No body, no features on the face, but you can clearly see light hair tucked behind an ear.
Oh my gosh,
I was right. There had been somebody behind me.
Now, for the skeptics, [clears throat] my fianceé. Even though I know with every fiber of my being that I was alone in that kitchen, let me describe the six other people in the house at the time. My mom's hair is as dark as mine and she's 5 in taller than me.
Mhm.
But the figure looked to be a couple inches shorter than me.
Also, if it has no body, how do you
Let's Let's just start there.
Yeah. Probably not anybody in the house cuz I do assume they all have bodies.
I think so, too.
Stephanie, while about that height, has even lighter hair that was covered by the hood of a fluffy blue bathrobe the entire time we were there. That's just mom [ __ ] I love that.
Yeah. Remember how I said earlier the only other people in that house were children under 12 and mostly boys?
All the boys had very short hair, much too short to be able to tuck behind the
56:00
ear. That leaves Stephanie's youngest daughter whose hair was just as light as her mom's. And at about 8 years old, she was nowhere near tall enough to be the face.
And at about 8 years old has a body.
Has a body. Yes. Most importantly.
Really going to harp on that one.
We have to. [laughter]
Plus, if you can see my eyes and nose, why can't you see any features on that face? M
my mom and I were shocked because she realized all of that as quickly as I did. We knew there was no possible way it was anything other than the presence that I had mentioned feeling.
We immediately sent the picture to Stephanie who replied that she saw even more faces than the one behind me. Then we called my dad into the room. He said, "That's not right." and walked out. [laughter]
I was spooked the [ __ ] out. I was afraid that some ghost juju had attached itself to me or my phone and followed me home. I slept with my light on for the next couple of months. This is literally me. I'd be like, "Fuck." [laughter]
I had gotten the ghostly encounter I'd wanted for years, and now I was being a complete chicken [ __ ] about [laughter] it. One thing began to make sense, though. Two years earlier, both of Stephanie's cats had kittens, and we adopted one and named her Cricket. I've
57:00
had five different cats in my life and spent time around many more. And I can say with confidence that Cricket was the weirdest kitten ever. She would freak out at nothing. Cute name.
Cricket is a great name for a cat. I actually know I've heard of a little girl named Cricket, and I think that's
very cute, too. Oh, I love that.
She would freak out at nothing and spend a lot of time staring at the walls, probably because she was used to seeing people walk through them at her first house.
And when she got the zooi, she would parkour herself up a wall and run horizontally for a gravitydeying amount of time. [laughter]
She might have had some leftover ghosts in her for a while. Anyway, I finally stopped sleeping with my light on by Easter when we were invited back to the haunted house for brunch.
Perfect timing.
Yeah, great.
Yeah.
I made donut muffins for the occasion. Was stoked about them because donut muffins.
That also sounds so good. donut. [clears throat] I've never had a donut before.
I'd like to know more about that.
Me, too.
I'd like to taste it.
Yes. Yeah.
To understand it.
Yeah. Tell me everything and feed me [laughter] all of them.
But I was also nervous to be going back to that house when my spectral lurker remember me. Thankfully, the party was outside. But at some point, in an act of
58:00
unintended psychological sabotage, somebody took my muffins inside. When it was time to eat, my mom asked me to go into the kitchen to retrieve them. I dutifully, fearfully went into that empty house and held my breath as I crept through the kitchen like I was trying to avoid being spotted by a T-Rex rather than ghosts. [laughter] I had just grabbed the container that held my precious muffins when I heard footsteps in one of the rooms upstairs. I have never moved so fast in my life and probably never will again. I don't even remember getting back across the kitchen. I think I genuinely blacked out for a second for my sheer terror.
I really thought this was going to go in the direction of like her doughnut muffins were gone cuz the spirits wanted them. What if this spirits ate her donut muffins?
If I were a ghost, I would for sure eat her doughnut muffins.
I would absolutely.
I would like to eat them as a human, too. But, you know,
but if we have to wait until our next life and afterlife, I guess we will.
I'll do it.
My next memory is standing next to my mom in the yard, paler than my usual shade of frail Victorian child whose delicate constitution does not permit them outdoors
and shaking. "What is wrong with you?" she asked me, my eyes the size of dinner
59:00
plates. I said that I had heard somebody walking around the upper floor of the empty house. My mom started laughing. I was stunned. She knew about the house. What the hell was she laughing about? Did she find it funny that I almost had been a snack for a ghoul? She then she said, "Stephanie's oldest daughter is home for the week. She's upstairs taking a shower." A
I said, "Oh." [laughter] And handed the muffins over so I could sit down and hyperventilate with my head between my knees. This was one of the last times I was at that house since I started college the next year, and I've never had any other encounters there, ghostly or otherwise. Thus concludes my tale of my first and creepiest paranormal experience. Keep it weird, fellow [ __ ] But not so weird that you can't handle getting what you wished for and think you're about to be dragged to hell over some muffins in the birthplace of your formerly possessed cat.
Hey, you survived.
You survived.
You survived.
And that was it.
And have a ghost photo to share.
All right. Where's the creepy head? Let me show you. So that's her. And then there's this like It does look like an ear right there. [clears throat]
The other lady said she saw more faces. I tried to find more faces and I couldn't, but I do see what she's
1:00:00
talking about like right there.
Yeah,
it's freaky. What about what's this whole thing?
I think that's her. Oh,
I was like that's for sure like a full on face.
Wait, no, that's what she's behind.
How did I completely miss the actual thing?
The other thing is circled, but yeah. So, that's another thing.
It's a girl with like a like you could see the ponytail.
Yeah, literally the elastic.
Is that the ponytail?
Doesn't it look like a half up half down hairo?
Why is it so far away from her head?
Okay. Well,
it's a big I don't know. Or wait, wait, is this multiple spirits? I'm confused now.
I feel like this is something else because that looks like her hair is down. Yeah. And like kind of like lowkey like a bushy eyebrow.
Okay. So maybe that's what Stephanie meant.
Maybe she's multiple.
It doesn't have a body,
right?
But very like that's such a clear ear.
The ear. Yeah. And you know it's not hers.
But then Yeah, cuz she's here and she has dark hair,
right?
I love that. I completely miss Yeah. Like I'm looking at the circle thing like Yeah, I see it. I see it right
1:01:00
there. But I do see like a face right there with an ear here.
Right.
I was looking for the hair, but there's there's the hair.
The hair.
Yeah, that would [ __ ] me up.
It's also like kind of like peering out behind her body.
It's like I can see you.
It reminds me of peekaboo.
Peekaboo. Peekaboo.
I read peekaboo in something recently and I was like, I can't hear that phrase again.
I know. Creepy. Wait, that is wild.
Yeah.
Yeah. The ear.
There's something behind you, babe.
I'd [ __ ] my pants.
Damn. That's crystal clear.
Yeah, that's a house that if you want to have a paranormal experience, you go there.
Yeah, absolutely.
And you hope you don't encounter the man in the brown suit cuz
Yeah, the weirdo creepy rapist who is yucky.
Goodbye.
Damn.
Well, I'm going to turn the lights on tonight. Thanks for sharing those.
Thank you for yours. You're [ __ ]
And thanks for inviting me to do this.
Thanks for being here.
I can't believe it wasn't my first time on the pod. I really thought this was inaugural. [laughter]
It was my inaugural solo solo visit to the pod and without Karen.
Yeah. And without Elena. Without our [clears throat] brothers.
Without our brothers.
I know. Just two brothers of four.
1:02:00
Yeah. And as two people who are codependent on our other brothers.
I know. But we I feel like we could be codependent on each other, too.
Yeah. I've got you.
Like our witch class, we were hella codependent.
We had to be.
We had a good time.
We did.
Elena's not here, but she does have a book coming out that I wanted to tell everyone to go pick up.
When does this come out?
August 23rd.
Oh, so honey, the book's out. Get it.
Honeys, you got to get it.
The Butcher Legacy. Butcher Legacy.
The third in the series. Is it the final?
I don't know if I'm allowed to answer that question.
Oh. Oh my [laughter] gosh. Okay. Well, pick it up and read it.
Yeah.
The Butcher Legacy. The Butcher Legacy. I feel like I said that weird.
No, you said it. Did I say it right? Okay. The Butcher Legacy. Here's a third time. Really? Just putting it in your head. Go pick it up.
Yes.
Obviously, everyone knows Ash from Morbid. Go listen to Morbid if you don't already.
Yeah, please listen. New episodes Mondays and Thursdays.
Yeah.
Everywhere you listen to podcasts.
What else? I don't know. Maybe one day soon we'll go on another paranormal investigation. We need to
I want to really bad.
1:03:00
We were going to do one back in May.
I know. Where were we going? The
Penhurst Asylum.
Yeah, maybe we can figure that out again. I'm actually going to be That's in Pennsylvania, right? Going to be in Pennsylvania next week, but um I'm booked and busy.
Yeah, you're [laughter] like last minute investigations are not for us. We We need a plan.
We'll figure this out off.
We'll make it happen.
Okay. Yeah. Period.
All right. Um You want to do the sign off with me? Yeah. Okay. So, we say thanks everyone for joining. Also, shout out to our editor, Jamie Ryan, who's fantastic and edited and produced this episode. And shout out to Aiden.
Shout out to Aiden,
who's on the morbid team, but is also here making sure our audio and video are good.
It's supreme.
Um, and we will see you on the other side.
See, I usually whisper it, so it feels so weird.
Yeah, that is weird. It's fun to whisper. I was you and you were Korean
swapping places. Thanks everyone. Bye
bye.
Very spooky.
