very spooky hi hi this is two girls one ghost two girl girls one ghost and we are your ghostesses that is Karen and I am Sabrina and we are here to tell you some strange stories today some strange information Le just got startled by nothing maybe it's the ghost saying goodbye to Leia because she's off on her big adventure today she is she's flying cross country today today is the day baby you say goodbye to the West Coast the Golden Coast we got her a new cat carrier and it has these little like

1:00

side expandable portions that like once you're on the plane you can open it up and it becomes a little bit more spacious cuz she's a chunk oh so she can just stretch I'm I know I'm picturing this wrong but when you describe it I picture like a normal cat carrier like a I picture like a duffel bag and that all of a sudden you can expand these whole sections that are like big tubes for her to be able to like wander and walk all the way like a hamster enclosure it is kind of wait let me show you the picture I want to see you didn't get her one of those bags it's the backpack where it's the clear hole and she can look out of the space hole I don't know if those are travel approved oh shoot and I don't know that she would enjoy that for as many hours as she will be in it oh yeah I've never seen one in person but I I would love to look at this oh okay so it is kind of like that yeah uhhuh that's so fun she can peek around she can do some sniffing I guess of other people's feet and all the great smells that exist

2:00

on airplanes exactly but um yeah we're going on our great adventure can I just

Complaining about nightlife

talk about something that I really hate real quick okay let's pivot from excitement to just disdain this is my Cragin old age commentary that I have right now okay so you and I have both in our lives kind of phased out of the going to bars and clubs and out for drinks yeah yeah yeah we'll go to dinner we like more intimate settings where you can actually enjoy a conversation hear someone and talk to them yeah like for example I'm going to dinner tonight with my friends the Kelsey who just got engaged and they said what time do you want to go to dinner I said 5:30 exactly that's when we're going appropriate so last night we went to a bar to get drinks and just the whole time it was like you can only talk to the person directly next to you cuz the whole time that people across you you're like I can't hear you what what did you say or they're just like uhhuh and then I

3:00

them and then I'm exed because I'm trying to and I can't and then I wake up and my throat hurts and it's a worse because everybody I think feels the same way but you all have to pretend that you don't so everyone's just kind of like mentally counting down like when is the appropriate time to leave can I make it another 40 minutes and then go I wish everyone felt the same way I don't think they do oh everyone you hang out with probably yeah everyone I which will be who you hang out with soon enough yeah we'll all be on the same level H yeah it does stink it makes me think back like it makes me reflect on the times that I did enjoy going out and I'm like I feel like half the time I didn't still no you just like it's just what everyone did drank I don't know I much prefer a oneon-one situation a two on two that's it for me yeah well I tap out there the loud noises it's hard you know what I really

Memories of summer nights

love which you'll love too but well I guess you could always do this in LA

4:00

because of the weather but in New England I just feel like in the Summers there's just something so magical about how many people get to sit outside like the little outdoor beastro places cuz we don't have those year round so there's so much excitement and like everybody's there and you're just like in this Vibe but you can enjoy that Vibe and still hear each other and be one-onone because you're like outside at like 4:30 p.m. it's kind of European too I like that it's very European yes and and then you can go home or you can stay outside late but like again I feel like the only times I really enjoy being up late is in the Summers when we're like outside sitting at a beastro set drinking espresso martinis and by late I mean like everyone's like oh my God I can't believe it's already 9:45 like we got to get home that's my late if I make it to 10 whoa whoa it's crazy night for you but also I never made it past midnight even when we were young we need I also

5:00

just 1:00 I was out for like the next 3 days like tapped out in my bed so I've always been as sleeper I will say my

College days and drunk snacks

favorite thing about going out when we were young was coming home and eating like dominoes and I always just looked forward to it like that was the highlight of those nights craft mac and cheese that was a big one for me the Domino's order was tough because it was like I think you and I both experienced this where we would delete the app off of our phone to prevent our ourselves from ordering it and then would drunkenly sit there redownload it create accounts and order the Domino very easy to do one of my favorite stories is uh she was your roommate at the time Caitlyn woke up with a an egg in her bed with her yes and it was not hardboiled it was it started our friend Kaitlyn who I had lived with it was me Caitlyn and Ally living together and Ally woke up and was like why is there a pot on the stove and the stove top is on but there's no water in the pot it and Away

6:00

turns it off and is like that's bizarre hours later Caitlyn wakes from the dead and there next to her cuddled in bed so gingerly which maybe is why she's such a great mom now like she drunkenly could sleep with an egg that was raw and not break it but she was like why is there an egg in my bed so she she clearly intended to hard boil an egg and then just got a little too tired took a little nap which is also a strange choice for a drunk snack yeah we all have interesting bizarre choices yeah we've been through a lot when our brains are poisoned so literally poisoned and a college there was a lot of it but there

Childhood snacks nostalgia

was now I will say I feel like some of the um drunken food choices have returned for me in pregnancy it's like pregnancy I ripped through four boxes of craft mac and cheese in 3 days there's like three servings in that have Gluten-Free mac and cheese really one

7:00

yes white cheddar mac and cheese they make it with rice pasta someone told me one of our listeners told me because like what three four years ago I was complaining on the podcast about how I couldn't eat mac and cheese anymore and they messaged me and they were like Annie's so it's not craft it's Annie's no it's not craft SpongeBob which was my favorite I loved the shapes especially where like the cheese would get stuck in the little holes yes that's why the SpongeBob ones were the best because SpongeBob had a lot like there was a lot to make him look like SpongeBob there was so many holes to pack that cheese into by far the best shape great shape did you ever eat dunkaroos oh of course that was my favorite snack dunkaroos and Rice Krispies but I wasn't allowed to have Rice Krispies so every time I slept over my friend Marissa's house I would eat an entire box of Rice Krispies it's interesting that you were allowed to eat dungaroos but not Rice Krispies it was cuz Rice Krispies had marshmallow and marshmallow had gelatin which is not vegetarian oh okay that makes sense then yeah yeah cuz I was like I feel like if

8:00

you went nutrition label no it's not about and had them battle each other I feel like dcaro would lose it wasn't about that but it is gross to think how

School lunches and allergies

much sugar we ate as children yeah oh and gushers you know what else is gross is like think about gushers and how you would trade your gushers for different snacks and it would be like our dirty little grimy children hands and you'd be like plucking the gushers cuz they'd be stuck to each other and you'd have to like grab that gooey gusher Nails yeah sometimes the guts were like on your finger and you're handing it to your friend in exchange for like a Cheeto and we would eat them who came up with the concept of gushers because it is truly brilliant the feeling of the explosion of a gusher in your mouth is gushers are great I also loved and I can't remember oh fruit rollups when they had the tattoos and you could tattoo your tongue yes that was such a that was a CO man we had great snacks did you bring your own lunch or buy lunch at school I was a

9:00

bring my own lunch almost every day a few times in high school I would buy lunch because I really like the chicken sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies yeah I was a lunchbox kid and we had cool lunch boxes back then too I don't think I had that cool of a lunch box I had like one of those cooler ones like the literally like a was like a cooler I definitely had a cooler one for the majority of the time too when um my mom had packed soup she had this like cool Campbell Soup thermos that the top was like a little like cup you could drink the soup out of she still has those man this is making me really hungry go get a snack H we should have a party where we just eat all of the things that we ate when we were kids and then have terrible stomach aches and sit near the toilet for a day yeah well we found out my brother's allergic to red dye 40 from um AirHeads he was eating an airhead and his top lift like blew up it was like this I probably have the photo

10:00

honestly on my Facebook somewhere but is so big and we're like What could this be and then the next time he ate something with red D 40 the same thing happened and we're like oh [ __ ] I think a lot of people are allergic to that yeah you want say hello no way come say hi the dangers of our food here okay well speaking of dangers

Fear of mortality

danger is around us everywhere and this is It's a paranormal podcast but we've said this many times before that without death there would be no paranormal stories yes and we can also probably admit death is a little bit scary and also like the fact that we've been doing this podcast for seven years and still have no answer for what await says on the other side is a little bit scary it's scary but it's not because I feel like everybody who's seen the other side or who has visitations from loved ones from the other side it does feel safe and protective and beautiful I'm totally cool with death like I'm like whatever take me whenever like oh I know but maybe live a little you know have some aspirations to live a little bit longer

11:00

sure I have I have many aspirations in life but like I'm not like if I am on my deathbed and I didn't do this like I'll be damned no like I don't care I have a cat and like I'm doing my thing okay I'm not afraid of death either but I am not ready to go you might be afraid of death a little bit after this episode because you know many books TV shows movies have tried to explore the fear of death and the ultimate outcome of mortality because it's inevitable it's human mhm but um we've all watched Final Destination or referenced it on this yes we have so many times this concept of evading death and death continuing to come for you is absolutely terrifying I think that's the one part of death that I wouldn't like if it was like I escaped it narrowly and then it kept coming for me in like terrifying ways well and I guess the proof of how scary something like that is is the fact that anytime you see a logging truck on the road very rarely will you ever see a car behind it

12:00

because we're all scarred from the first Final Destination movie Yes literally

Unusual deaths in history

that's the next sentence in my thing but how we will die is always a mystery have you put much thought into how you would like to die are you like I'd like to die peacefully in my sleep this is going to be really morbid and I feel like I probably shouldn't say this because there are so many people who we've met who listen to our podcast that are like thank you so much you've made me less scared of death M but I'm not sure I believe in the idea that people can die peacefully in their sleep that they just don't know well it's not that they don't know but it's not like a painful death do we know that though or are we all just asleep I think we're just hoping for it so I don't know I don't know how I want to die I'm not sure but not brutally like I don't want to be like one of those Texas Chainsaw Maser House of black style like ripped apart at a gas station or Plumping to my death out of a parale like nothing like that well also with that you're like struggling with the

13:00

fear the anxiety the terror leading up to the death like I'd rather just not have that yeah I would love to die when I'm super old like maybe on my birthday but like when I'm 95 full circle okay or 99 you know if I'm like still with it and I I am very like nimble and able to move around and stuff then I would be cool with that I think I'll get my first tattoo when I'm uh 99 when I'm 99 and 364 days old and it's going to say I got 999 problems but another Century A1 and then I'm going to perish right there okay so you have put a lot of thought into this right now I did this is how I'm going to go I'm locking it in here we go you're GNA die as the tattoo is being started but the tattoo isn't a real tattoo it's just I've licked one of those uh fruit rollups and that's what it says I get a custom one I my arm that you're going to commission today just in case RS are not around yeah I'm gonna have like a 50 pack just

14:00

in case because you never know I got to have it on the Go and all my purses and all the cars that I travel in I

Famous fatal coincidences

appreciate this thanks well in this episode we are going to talk about the most unusual deaths recorded in history so despite talking about death which naturally is shrouded in sadness this episode is going to bring about a lot of discussion maybe some future party conversations and Trigger more fears and also leave you wondering h say what' you say what what to say what oh my God I thought I was having a stroke no no no okay I wrote that okay because this episode is going to cover death like being smothered to death by gifts dying of laughter being tortured by insects elaborate yet insane historic murder schemes spontaneous combustion death by carrot juice and drowning in beer okay the carrot juice makes me sad I

15:00

love carrot juice well everything in moderation this is like an episode of a Thousand Ways To Die it kind of is I have to shout out the Wikipedia page there's a Wikipedia page that says like world's most unusual deaths that are recorded in history and it's just like hundreds of strange deaths but also in an effort to keep this episode a little bit more light-hearted and also out of respect for people who have died more recently I'm going to mostly focus on historic deaths and maybe more modern absurdities in ways that like I would be okay with dying perhaps okay great but because this is a paranormal podcast I wanted to start with some that are a little bit more paranormal and mysterious SL coincidental and thought provoking okay I'll start with this one

The fall of a house

Achilles he was the father of Greek tragedy in the 400 BC era he spent his life writing plays about tragedy about like death dying tragedies yeah and in

16:00

455 BC he was given a prophetic message that he would be killed that day and the quote said by the fall of a house so Achilles was like okay well I'll avoid all homes I'll stay away from my house I'll stay away from any house and I'll be outside if only he could have lived further in the future and watched The Wizard of Oz he'd know that sometimes houses just fall from the sky and kill you so he's attempting to evade death staying outside and unfortunately like in Final Destination death found him he could not evade it but it was not by a falling house per se but by a falling tortoise because an eagle was flying overhead and mistook his bald head as a rock upon which he could crack the tortoise shell so the eagle dropped the tortoise which technically the shell is the house to a turtle yeah it's their home and it struck Achilles head and the

17:00

impact killed him holy crap I also feel like sometimes when people get these prophetic warnings it's so scary because it's like what do they mean by house is it a literal house is it like a tortoise's home is it the house that you reside in in terms of like the hierarchy of people and right family members or whatever like what what do they mean by house like I'd be so on edge the entire

Tragic stage deaths

time it is one of those things where you know I feel like we've asked this question before on the podcast like would you rather know when you're going to die or how you're going to die and they're both pretty terrible but I think I'd rather know when than how because then I would just be constantly wondering if it was around the corner right yeah at least all of your anxiety would just be surrounding that one day or like leading up to that one day when it gets a lot closer I guess it would depend because it's like I guess you can't cheat cuz part of me was like oh well I would want to know how so that I don't have to live every day being like

18:00

the end is coming the end is coming like I can just go through life but that's if you die in a really unusual way where it's like you're allergic to lemons and you eat a lemon or like something like that I guess that's you never know where lemons could be but if it's broad like a car then you're right if they're like you die by car well now I can't leave my house ex and I can't leave the center of my house cuz what if a car crashes into the side of my house like I have to hunker down mhm live in a bunker okay this one is a little bit um I don't know if I would be the right word maybe okay so molier is this like famous French play right and on February 17th 1673 he was performing in his own play it was called La Malad imag where he played a hypochondriac who in the play dies at the very end of the play in a chair well okay on February 17th 1673 he's performing in this play and he suffered of a pulmonary Hemorrhage during the performance he continues to perform in the show and at the end when he dies in

19:00

the chair he quite literally starts to die in the chair and when the performance ends people realize that he's dying he literally can't get out of his chair they carry him home in this chair and he dies that is so horrible that scares me

Public restroom anxiety

so much I watched this horrible video that I didn't realize was going to be like me watching someone actually die of this one comedian that was on stage was he a comedian or a magician or like some kind of like combo of the two and it was a few decades ago I can't remember his name but he because he had so much comedy people thought he was joking when he started to like have a reaction and fall to the ground and you literally everyone's laughing around him and then eventually they realize but like it takes a long time and I watched the whole video I like what is this weird act yes and they literally have it on tape and it really Disturbed me and he died he had like sudden cardiac failure I guess a heart attack yikes yeah being on stage Maybe that's my worst fear not

20:00

my worst but that would be a horrible way to go where it's like you're surrounded by people and no one is helping you okay this reminds me of the Tik Tok that you sent me the other day because we were talking about our desire to go to the bathroom and you sent me a Tik Tok where it's like what was it you have to go to the bathroom like really badly which one do you choose and it was a bunch of different toilets in very very public settings yeah it was like a conference room but you're up on the table on a in front of yeah or you're like in the mall and there's a glass cage or there's like a thousand other toilets all Expos do that one the Thousand exposed toilets because you could pick one in the middle and there might be other people there The View might be blocked a little bit yeah

Spiritualists and death

yeah I'd rather just poop my pants honestly I think than drop trout and be seen depends on how far you are from home because as someone who has pooped their pants as an adult and had to get home it's quite awful you rather someone just watch your naked bottom half poop

21:00

well I'm sitting on a toilet I guess and also like they're probably super uncomfortable that they'd look away or maybe it's their thing or maybe it's their thing and you fall in love because you realize you like it you're like wait I do this all the time I have something I can provide for you yes I a provider I'm a caretaker for you yeah and you're going to be okay with me having to emergency do this all the time so what a great match okay so this one's a little bit devastating but Thomas Lynn Bradford was a spiritualist in the 1920s and he was very determined to seek out proof that there was an existence of the afterlife he took it a little bit extreme and on February 5th 1921 he made an agreement with a fellow spiritualist Ruth Starkweather Duran and said I'm going to take my own life and come back to you as a spirit to prove the existence of afterlife oh God okay why

22:00

can't you just wait it out yeah and unfortunately his Spirit was never heard from s okay this one is wild it's scary

Dreams turning fatal

that this can happen in 1924 this man thoron Jones woke up to find his throat was slit and I don't know necessarily what was happening but someone else was in the room and he wakes up and he's bleeding out of his throat he's like in a panic and he motions for a pen and paper and he writes down I dreamt that I had done it and I awoke to find it true he died 80 minutes later so the theory here is that he truly in his dream cut his own throat and in his unconscious State he did it whoa this is reminding me for some reason of that I know it's not correct but that uh chaining T movie where his wife kills him in her sleep sort of situation yeah oh that's so

23:00

scary there are a couple Infamous cases where that has been like the legal defense right it's hard cuz it's like vivid dreams and sleepwalking can be so terrifying like I've thought about that with myself before because I know while I very rarely Sleepwalk I am a very high functioning Sleepwalker like I will count things I will pack things I will fold things I will operate kind of like a normal human being but have no recollection I've never slep walked I think I'd be terrified if I saw you or anyone sleepwalking maybe you wouldn't know I don't know what I'm like K an adult no one's caught me we just catch me because things have been done and it's evident that I did it oh my gosh

Spontaneous combustion

okay so this is a literally mind-blowing death so a woman spontaneously combusted in her St Petersburg Florida home on July 2nd 1951 her name is Mary reer and she was found practic Ally completely cremated

24:00

on her couch but there was very little damage to any other place in the house how right so there's all these theories people have tried to figure out what happened there was like a couple plastic items around her that seemed like a little bit melted but nothing else was actually burnt she was practically cremated still sitting what was left of her was still sitting on the couch the FBI eventually declared that rer had been in incinerated by what they call the wick effect which basically means they believe that she fell asleep and was smoking a cigarette and set fire to her night clothes and the fat of her body acted almost like a wick but I'm like she's sitting on a flammable couch fabric couch I don't believe that she would catch fire around other flammable things and nothing else would catch fire yeah it's bizarre because like cows will spontaneously combust and actually just brought up the Kelsey at the top of this

25:00

episode and Kelsey one of I don't know why I'm laughing this is so serious this is sad but one of the cows spontaneously combusted like imploded and died which does happen to cows because they have so much gas that's built up inside of the you know four chambers of their stomach or whatever and so when that happens they're so incredibly uncomfortable and they literally explode from the inside and if you can catch it in time vets will literally come and like fullon puncture a hole in the side of them into their stomach to release all of the gas yeah but like it does make me wonder if in human form there can be some sort of like gaseous trappings cuz like your gas like your intestinal Linings can break and seep out but then that would be that wouldn't be the same though as I it's confusing it's so and also she was basically cremated so there's no body left to like you can't do of her organs

Horrific bathroom accidents

or anything can I tell you a really

26:00

disturbing thing that I think would actually be the worst way to die sh I had seen told on like an EMT worst case ever yeah what what was it someone said that they arrived to do like a wellness check on someone who hadn't been heard for a few days this is so gross this is like a trigger warning just for maybe everything I don't know most people don't listen but they found the woman and she was in the bathtub and the bathtub water was still running so like the people below them in her apartment unit or whatever were like taking water and whatever she was in her bathtub so they thought that she was dead in her bathtub they went to grab her and pull her up and she was still alive oh my God I'm going to like all of her skin started to fall off and what happened was she had a stroke and during her stroke she hit like her foot hit the bathtub to put the water up to the hottest temperature it could be but then she was paralyzed so she literally got

27:00

boiled to death that's real it's awful well someone someone just on I don't know someone online said it was like the worst case they' ever had to go to as an EMT or like that their parents went to ah I feel like that's why in like on the water heaters the furthest thing is it's like caution don't turn it to this one right yeah you can control how hot your faucets can possibly go okay well um

Ancient torture methods

here are some evil villain murder schemes from history okay you know we remember Scooby-Doo and like Dexter's Laboratory and all those cartoons and evil superhero and villain movies from going up and you know comics and everything pinky in the brain submerged over the shark tank and all of these things classic well some of them happened in real life oh in 362 Marcus of arusa was hung up in in a honey smeared basket and stung to death

28:00

by bees wait when was this was this medieval times cuz I feel like medieval torture techniques were awful before it was 362 okay because it's like remember the rat thing where they'd put a box of rats on top of someone's stomach and then light behind the box so that the rats would dig through and try to burrow to escape the Heat and like literally chew and Claw into someone's stomach I will say there was a lot of creativity used when it came to torture techniques yeah this one just is just upsetting or just it would be the worst place to die on November 30th 10:16 Edmund Ironside who was the English king at the time was stabbed while on the toilet by an assassin hiding underneath it hiding under the toilet was this like an ouse

Animal-related fatalities

sort of situation I don't know but hid in the bathroom so pants were down that is yeah that is not great you cannot take control of the situation when your

29:00

pants are down like that it's too difficult no in 865 Ragnar L Brock who was a viking leader was captured and executed by being thrown into a pit of snakes and then I was like okay I was looking into a bunch of snake deaths and it reminded me of the story of my I think I told this on the podcast where my biology teacher in high school told me about her friend who had a snake that kept like escaping from the cage and she would wake up to it stretched out in bed trying to measure her up see when I can eat her and I found a story the first and fully confirmed case of a snake swalling an adult human was in March of 2017 Akbar Sul luiro was a 25-year-old who was killed and swallowed by a python in Indonesia swallowed God swallowed so horrible well some of them are so big yeah it's like that guy who wanted to there's like an actual this happened within the past few years that some guy was like oh I want to be eaten by an anaconda or whatever and someone wanted

30:00

to yeah it was like this big thing and they had like camera Crews and this whole team and he was like sponsored and he had this special suit or whatever to keep himself from being constricted or or whatever I don't know what kind I can't remember what kind of snake it was but it was one of those giant ones was the plan for him to be recovered yeah like he wasn't supposed to die it was supposed to be like just stupid surviving and I don't remember any of the details except for that he started to panic and I don't think he went through with it at all I can't remember if he was like partially in the snake when he was like never mind take me out or if he just like never entered the snake but he did Panic as that was happening okay I picked a death for you

Fatal falls and traps

because it's your worst nightmare great thanks well it's not like for you but this one I'm reading this one for you okay on July 26th 1184 Henry V 6 the king of Germany was holding an informal assembly at the Petersburg Citadel and apparently the combined weight of

31:00

everyone who was assembled caused the second story of the building to collapse 60 people fell through the flooring down below the ground floor into liquid excrement where they died and drowned oh my God that's so gross I knew you would hate that I was thinking I was like where's this going to go because like just falling that amount can kill you right like people get crushed to death and just from the blow from the fall I was like what's the part that involves me oh that's disgusting that is so so nasty so foul and I'm just picturing like all of these people like trying to like swim out anyway I won't put more you can you can picture where I was going with that yeah

Gruesome historical punishments

gross I have one that's like kind of this is a trigger warning it's like it's very extreme torture but then the followup to it after this will bring you a little bit of repre okay so on August

32:00

17th 1571 Marco Antonio bragadin who was the Venetian Captain General in Cyprus was gruesomely killed after the Ottomans took over the city he was dragged around the walls with sacks of Earth and stone on his back and then he was tied to a chair and then he was hoisted up the flag pole where he was exposed to everyone in like a Public Square and people were throwing things at him and yelling at him makes me nauseous and then he was tied to a column and flayed alive his skin was unstuffed with straw and sewn and the Ottomans like put him in basically like dressed him in like a mocking way and let his stuffed skin ride around the city human beings are not okay no and then in 1580 someone rescued this man's skin so this is like 10 years later and brought it back

33:00

to Venice to bring him home so [ __ ] up okay but the reprieve are you ready for this yeah what is it how in 1568 Hans staninger who was the bergo master of what was Bavaria tripped over his own beard broke his neck and died his beard was 4 1/2 ft long and he usually kept it rolled up in a leather pouch but this day he was having a good hair day and he decided to let his beard loose and he tripped over it wait how tall was he was he like getting up from a sitting position and tripped on his how is he tripping on his hair I don't think he was that tall but also his beard from chin down is four and a half fet oh yeah so I guess if he was like you know five foot it's right there tickling his toes I mean this is like a drawing of him but oh my gosh wow what an awful way to go and also I feel like it's something that a lot of clumsy people probably fear

34:00

just in general but for your own beard hair to be the reason that you fell it's

Lawyer fatal demonstration

like sad to be killed by something that is your prized possession you know yeah that's awful poor gu yes it's kind of embarrassing too in a way you know it is and I also kind of like feel like the fall was like a long fall you know people take a really long time to trip oh yeah look he's stumbling for 45 seconds arms flailing yeah W this one is also a little bit like ironic in 1871 Clement valandingham was a lawyer and he was defending a man accused of murder so apparently in this case Thomas mcgean was accused of murder when a man had died in a barroom brawl in Ohio Clement was his lawyer and his defense was that the victim accidentally shot himself in court he attempts to sh show as like an example in his defense how this victim

35:00

could have accidentally shot himself in the demonstration Clement accidentally shot himself and died but because of this his defense worked because his client was found not guilty at what cost because that client now is traumatized and everyone in that courtroom right and that guy lost his life that is I feel like should never use actual guns or even like prop guns I feel like you should have to use a water gun like a squirt gun when doing any sort of demonstrations because the amount of just like and in movies there's so many accidents that could be just don't don't [ __ ] use one yeah I agree okay this

Sinkholes and wine

is another fear that I feel like you know we've talked about being afraid of quicksand and thinking that that would be more of a fear or like a realistic thing in our life as adults when you're seven years old you're praying you never encounter quicksand but you know that

36:00

you will right you're certain well this is similar on February 28th 2013 Jeffrey Bush was a 37-year old man living in Tampa he was asleep in his bed when all of a sudden a massive sinkhole measuring 15 ft wide and 20 ft deep opened up below his bed and sucked him in his body was never recovered that is terrifying I hope he died immediately because the fear of just like being being swallowed and in the darkness and like slowly being crushed or losing air no thank you and also like this is you know people say like oh I want to die in my sleep but you got to be specific yeah oh I also this is I do know someone who passed this way unfortunately but it is a huge fear no no no what I'm about to say like the kind of adjacent but like when you're skiing and snowboarding and you fall into a Kass and they can be so so deep oh that's so scary terrible so scary on February 18th

37:00

1478 these are kind of just various now ones that I was like oh these are interesting George planning net who was the first Duke of Clarence apparently he was to be executed and he got to choose how he was to die and he chose to drown in a barrel of wine oh why' they give

Fatal invention tests

him a choice is that just something everyone got or was he special I don't know but he chose and he did he drowned in a barrel of wine again like how specific is it was he truly just drowned to death in a barrel of wine or did he get to drink himself to death by being given a barrel of wine sure he took a mouthful I don't know that he got to like get to the buzz and enjoy it well that's it you know out of all the things that you have told us so far I feel like this one is probably the one that if I had to choose one of them I would choose okay this is a man who is now known as the flying Taylor so his name is fron Riyal he was a tailor and an inventor and he basically invented this parachute

38:00

that he was like I'm going to take off from the top of the Eiffel Tower with my parachute and all of his friends are like well don't you want to like use a dummy to test it out first and he's like no no no I think the only way to test out and prove the validity of my invention is by just going for it this is giving submersible and unfortunately he plummeted to his death yes sometimes you just got to actually test things out and not let your hopes your dreams and your ego get the best of you get way yes I think that's Our Own Worst Enemy as humans yeah so I mentioned this one in the beginning carrot juice you can continue to enjoy carrot juice but I do not recommend drinking 10 gallons of carrot juice over 10 days okay because

Dietary fatal errors

yeah this man basil Brown died in 1974 he was a 48-year-old Health Food Advocate from England and and he died from liver damage after consuming 70

39:00

million units of vitamin A and 10 gallons of carrot juice over 10 days when he died his skin was bright yellow whoa yeah too much carrot juice it is crazy cuz it's like you know when kids eat like a bunch of vitamins you know like they get the gummy vitamins and they eat the whole pack and then the parents call Poison Control or whatever and they're like they'll be okay like the vitamins will flush out of the system but like if you continue to do that nonstop to your body like yeah your body can't process it like there is a threshold it is really interesting when you look at Vitamin C supplements if you look at them it says like a th% of your daily value right and it's like okay well can't we just get 100% like clearly our body doesn't need a th% 1,000% like why why do we do that yeah that's a good question doctors why are we challenging everything to process what we don't need right this man Kurt toal was an Austrian American logician and mathematician and

40:00

out of nowhere he developed this like terrible fear like obsessive fear that he was going to be poisoned to death so he refused to eat any food except for food that his wife prepared for him and then his wife passed away and he was so scared like so consumed by the sphere

Dark cannibalism stories

that he starved to death oh my God that's so sad it's so sad because that's you know that's all mental I feel like that's very as someone who does actually have OCD like that is a that could be very OCD type of thing very this one I mentioned to you the other day on March 9th 2001 burned Brands was voluntarily slaughtered and eaten by Armen Muse following a discussion on the internet basically he found Armen who wanted to eat someone and burned volunteered and and at his request Muse first amputated

41:00

his penis and unsuccessfully tried to eat it and then apparently taped the entire amputation murder conservation and eating of this man's flesh and meat so the guy was alive for some time then mhm like he watched the guy eat him part of him yeah oh my God my heart this is that scene in Hannibal Lector that has [ __ ] me up where he like takes the part out of the guy's brain and like Cooks it and feeds it to him yeah but this is like why would you choose that I don't know that's a thing but I don't know in a interesting plot twist Armen Muse who was arrested and spent his life in prison became a vegetarian during his prison sentence Oh my god well also there is something I learned about this when I went to the cannibal Museum in San Diego but when you I shouldn't say when as if people are inevitably going to do it doing this all the time yeah yeah should someone

42:00

find themselves in a position where they have to cannibalize which in history a lot of that has to do with shipwrecks and people trying to survive on these long voyages if you eat human flesh it's

Exploding chewing gum

poisonous to your own body so you go mad there's just no reason to but I'm glad that that guy in prison I wonder if there was like something in his brain where he had been cannibalizing or something and it just kind of like continued to manipulate his brain in a negative way and then once he went to jail that all kind of flushed out of his system and then he was like holy [ __ ] I'm only going to eat vegetables and rice and beans yeah I don't know this one's just maybe this very much could have been avoided so okay on December 2nd 2009 Vladimir lios died when his chewing gum exploded so apparently he liked to dip his gum into citric acid to increase the sour taste when they

43:00

investigated this cuz people were like was he poisoned like was this like an attack or anything police found 100 G of some unidentified explosive powder because this man had studied chemistry at home and it looked like citric acid but it was an explosive powder and so he accidentally dipped his gum into a powder that was 4 times stronger than TNT oh my God that's horrible and so his his saliva triggered the TNT explosive powder and exploded jeez so dangerous it's like those weird things that you would just never think how would you ever predict that that could be something to happen to you but at the same time it's like if you are mixing sort of chemicals and have these things going perhaps maybe you should have it very clear Lab special attention yeah yeah although it is hard cuz there's so

Great beer and molasses floods

many products out there like there's caffeine concentrate which is I think one of the scariest products ever made because people think that it's think it's cold brew yeah and then they'll put

44:00

you know two tablespoons in or whatever and then that's the equivalent of having like 40 servings and then they'll have a heart attack and die read your labels something should be maybe just illegal too well coffee concentrate is great if you use it properly yeah but some people don't like some people add it to like their protein shakes or something like it's not just normal coffee like I feel like there needs to be a bigger transition phase for a product like this where most people just think that they're buying something that they've bought 100 times off the shelf just a different brand I'm worried for people man well people should uh read and if they don't there's a little bit of a Darwinism there I don't know Panera's out here just freaking trying to kill people left and right with the amount of caffeine they're putting in their lemonades okay we've talked about this before the Molasses Flood you've talked about it in Boston the great Molasses Flood in Boston yes where 21 people were killed and 150 were injured after a large tank of molasses burst in Boston's North End in

45:00

1919 well in October of 1814 there was a great London beer flood there at mu and CO's horseshoe Brewery a 22ft tall wooden bat of fermenting Porter burst causing chain reactions and destroyed several large barrels of beer flooding the nearby area killing eight people and then subsequently some people died from alcohol poisoning from like all of the vaporized liquor being consum or absorbed into their skin it is so wild cuz we think of it we think of those events as being like some sort of like Willy Wonka sort of situation where it's like almost like a little cartoon wave but there are so many weird things about it that can kill you like the Molasses FL it was like basically like 50 mph waves right yeah like it was just taking people and drowning it was like a car hit you it was Heavy thick yeah it's the force of it and then the drowning in it the haunting part of that story the

46:00

Molasses Flood in Boston is people say that on certain days in Boston's North End you can still smell the scent of molasses wafting through the streets which there and I did not smell it ever

Ironic deaths

so okay well we're going to wrap up with a couple more light-hearted is iterations of death so okay this one is Death By Sex in no November of 1983 Jimmy feroo was a bouncer at the Condor Club in San Francisco and he and his girlfriend were like let's have sexy time on top of this piano which apparently like in the club it had this hydraulic machine that basically brought it up and down from the ceiling down to the stage and so they are having sex on top of the piano and accidentally he triggered the hydraulic motor activating the lifting mechanism and it went all the way up to the ceiling and pinned him and crushed him to death no oh God e hor

47:00

mid quitus when he died sex can be dangerous sex can be very dangerous his girlfriend did survive the accident okay jeez as someone who loves cows Karen don't let the cows climb onto your roof because this is a death being crushed by a cow how do they get onto your roof that's a good question there some flexible cow in 2013 Joe Maria desus was crushed in his bed when a cow fell through the roof of his home in Brazil it had climbed on top of the house from a steep Hillside beside it and the cow fell through the roof both the cow and his wife who was in bed next to him were unharmed but he unfortunately was crushed oh how

Dying from laughter

horrific now you would think maybe dying from laughter would be fun but maybe it would be painful and there are a lot of examples in history of people dying from laughter well also I feel like when you

48:00

get a laughing fit like there's a point where you're really trying to make yourself stop CU it does hurtt and like it hurts your face it hurts your like internal organs and so I started doing a little bit of research about death by laughter which is an extremely rare form of death usually resulting from either Cardiac Arrest or asphixiation so it's like choking and being suffocated you can't breathe or it's so much that your heart gives out the phase dying from laughter is usually used as Hyperbole and there's a Monty Python episode where it's like a joke that's so funny that anyone who hears it promptly dies like laughs so hard they die I've never seen mon python I feel like you reference it a lot and it's one of those movies that you reference and I've never seen there's a bunch of like there's episodes there's movies oh I don't think it's your humor but I think it just like is a staple in culture yeah this is mean but there's this legend that in the fifth century BC a Greek painter by the name zukus z x i s died laughing at his

49:00

painting of an old woman I can see that happening yeah I'm going to butcher this name but cryus was known as the man who died from laughing at his own joke in 206 BC this man who was a philosopher apparently was watching a donkey eat figs in in the record he told a slave to give the donkey neat wine to drink with which to wash them down and he thought that was so funny that he laughed To

Paranormal laughter death

Death this is kind of reminding me of my mom where she'll make a joke and she'll be the only one that laughs at it I do appreciate when people laugh at their own jokes like it only matters if you think you're funny side tangent about donkeys I can't remember where in the world this is it's like in Norway or something like that a few years ago maybe like four years ago this man like had his donkey with him I guess when he was hunting or like wandering

50:00

his land and his donkey got loose and the donkey joined a herd of elk and that donkey has never returned and people still spot the donkey all the time with it new chosen family the elk wait that's so cute he's like I was born into the wrong body I'm elk at heart that's so cute this is similar to a man dying at his own joke on October 30th of 196 5 a man and in this story I couldn't find like it was like unidentified man in the Philippines he was a 24-year-old Carpenter who was apparently known for making his companions laugh was telling a joke to his friends and he thought it was so funny that he fell into an uncontrollable fit of laughter and then fainted and his friends were like oh my gosh like what's happening they took him to the hospital he died before he could get medical help the police investigate this and all of the friends are like he told us a joke it was so funny that he

51:00

died that's so crazy because you would think that the best thing to happen to him in that moment would be fainting so that his body can recalibrate cuz normally like when people are psychologically or whatever is happening like unable to breathe when they do pass out is when they start to re-regulate but no so that's terrifying it is and this one okay so this is kind of scary and I'm ending with this one because it feels a little bit paranormal but it is also laughing to death in 2003 in Northern Thailand a man began laughing in his sleep and his wife was trying to wake him she could not wake him he just kept laughing in his sleep was mumbling and laughing hysterically and he stopped breathing and apparently died of heart problems wow I'm concerned because I think if this weren't a paranormal podcast I'd be like at least whatever was happening in his dreams was hilarious and he got to like die happy

52:00

but knowing what we know of the astral plane and of certain visitations and encounters that people can come by while they're asleep it does make me suspicious like what if there was some sort of entity there that was manipulating him and trapping him in this like horrible torturous state of laughter I hope he was unaware I hope so too but it's scary just the dream world in general we don't really understand like What's happen happening and the fact that he was unable to be woken up and could not stop laughing that is very disturbing it's kind of like

Unusual deaths round-up

sleepwalking it is it's scary don't wake a sleepwalker those are a bunch of unusual deaths and there were hundreds of them you can find so many deaths on the internet but I mean there's the show A Thousand Ways To Die there's at least a thousand at least at least yeah there was also like a lot of being trampled by animals and then there was a story of like when cars were first built there was a story of a woman who got struck by

53:00

a vehicle and was the first person recorded to have died as a pedestrian my God and I was like that's scary I know that this isn't a show but in the good place it reminds me of what's this what's a guy from a Jacksonville Florida's name oh I can't remember but his way to die remember he would like went into some sort of locked like he was a go put me in this like yeah it was like a fridge or like a bank vault or like some sort of metal contraption and they didn't have a key and he got stuck and suffocated and that's there was someone who that happened actually there was a story of a woman who was trying to hide her boyfriend from her dad and so she like closed him into a cupboard and he suffocated and died oh my God this was like back in freak olden days yeah yeah okay what a charming and uplifting episode Sabrina thank you for that you're so welcome lots of fears for you all to think about now I don't know if I can just continue about the day that I was going to have in the way that I was

54:00

going to have it now I feel like I need to Pivot I will say I feel like you gave me the most horrifying one or gave all of us the most horrifying one The Boiled to death like that was all you okay I guess that's true I I did contribute cuz that feels really realistic whereas a lot of the ones that I was saying were like not it doesn't feel like they are as common or realistic your likelihood of being strung up and covered in Honey for bees to come after you is pretty low probably pretty low yeah may as well buy a lottery ticket I think at that point you're probably better chances hopefully let's pray that that's not the way that the world starts to Pivot my mom won $4 on the lottery she did oh man yeah I like still have never won even $4 from a lottery ticket wow I love scratchers pick winnings I'm a scratchers G I like the scratchers that are um my brain can't think of any words but it's the one with the words cross word the cross word one cross okay yes I like that one

Listener ghost story

55:00

yeah all right well I have a story from a listener that caught my eye because of the title of it I thought maybe it would be appropriate to read for this episode It's called ghost child predicts death through dream and this is sad I will give a trigger warning at the top that suicide is pretty prevalent throughout this entire story okay hello Sabrina and Karen I'm steadily working through all of the episodes of your podcast and I'm almost halfway through woohoo I also have steadily been sending you guys stories but here's another one I apologize in advance because I do have so many stories but I wanted to send this one never apologize we want all of your stories yes we do I did experience a bit of this story but this one mostly happened to my husband and his family in a previous home and he finally gave me permission to share the story with you guys and I would really love to know your thoughts my husband I'll call him Jay and his family moved to a home when he was around 12 years old he was the oldest and his parents let him and his

56:00

brother share the master bedroom lucky I know the whole family experienced seeing shadows and hearing noises all throughout the day but it was Jay and his brother's experience that really scared me the fact that this happening all throughout the day too is just like yeah just what's happening super haunted right off the bat yeah I moved in with Jay after the birth of our daughter while we looked for a rental and we took over the the master bedroom which had its own bathroom sometimes I would be on the bed trying to get my daughter to sleep when the door would just swing open and you would think maybe it's the wind maybe it's a draft right well Not only would it be open but it would also close and Latch by itself as well as just fully swinging open and this happened on multiple occasions and I would just grab my daughter and I would go into the living room because I did not want to deal with that in the mornings I would usually make my husband breakfast and I would take it to his job job while doing that I would take my daughter to my sister-in-law's room so

57:00

that she could watch her she usually stayed asleep so when I heard someone walking into the living room and sitting down on the couch I assumed maybe my daughter had just woken up and my sister-in-law brought her out to watch the TV or something I went to the living room expecting to find them only to see the living room empty I genuinely got scared because the steps were so clear I could have sworn I heard someone walk into that living room yeah but I never felt any negative energy though anyway after this incident I told Jay and he started sharing his stories with me first I will tell you his brother we'll call him te was Home Alone one night and he was just laying on his bed his bed was up against the window and the curtain was closed it's important to note that it was winter time so the window wasn't open and it hadn't been open in a while as he was laying in bed he kept hearing tapping on the outside of the window at first he thought it was the wind or maybe a bug outside but it became l to the point that it sounded as if someone was banging on this window he

58:00

got scared he jumped out of bed and he was just standing there shocked staring at the window T then saw the curtain start inching forward and a face in the curtain began to appear he bolted out of the room he locked himself in the bathroom and then he called his dad when his dad came home they all assumed that maybe it was just the wind but when they checked the window the window was still locked shut there was no way that the wind could have made a silhouette in that curtain oh I hate that like using the curtain to it's like the hands like you know reaching out at the walls yes okay now for Jay's experience his bed was parallel to te on the other side of the room one night when he was around 15 years old after playing some video games with his youngest brother we'll call him P he went to bed te was out with friends and so he had the whole room to himself so he settled into the bed he turned towards the wall and as he was falling asleep he felt someone lay in bed with him he didn't think much of it because he thought that it was p and that P had

59:00

probably just gotten scared from playing the video games so he turned his body around to ask if he was okay and when he opened his eyes he saw what he described as a young girl around 13 staring at him she was also laying in bed inches away from his face and she had black hair her face was blue her lips were almost black she continued staring at him and thinking it was a dream he just closed his eyes eyes again and when he opened them she was still there he was basically just there Frozen In Fear And I don't know how he didn't start crying because I would have so they just lay there and they're staring at each other and she didn't move he didn't move he didn't know how much time had passed before he decided that he just couldn't look at her anymore so he turned back towards the wall and he fell asleep in the morning he wasn't sure if this was a nightmare or if it was real jeez so fast forward a couple weeks he started seeing more Shadows he was was hearing more noises and overall the activity was getting way more intense but just for

1:00:00

him he started dreaming of this girl and every time he dreamt of her it was like he was unlocking a scene first he would just dream of her staring at him next it was her staring at him but they were outside by a field next it was her staring at him by a field and she pointed up towards a hill after that it was her pointing towards the hill to a tree and then it was her pointing towards the hill to a tree that was near Red Bri home in the last dream was her staring at him and then pointing at the hill with the tree and the red house but on the tree there was a silhouette of someone hanging on the tree he assumed it was her on the tree because she was blue and he thought maybe she was trying to tell him how she died he kept having this dream for months and the last time he dreamt of her he was able to talk in his dream he told her he was sorry but he couldn't help her and that she needed to move on she just kept insistently pointing at the hill and he kept repeating I I don't know how to help you I'm sorry I don't know how to help you I'm sorry oh my gosh oh my gosh but she

1:01:00

just kept pointing at the hill like there was something he wasn't seeing after that he started putting his foot down and telling whatever was in the home to leave him alone and he didn't know how to help so they just needed to move on this is so sad and now this is the trigger warning for suicide now we fast forward 8 years my husband's family has since moved out of the home and into a new home we now live in our home as does te and now it's just his dad mom sister and P living together my husband got the worst call anyone could ever get he was told that P had died by Suicide at just 15 years old oh my gosh he had hung himself and since they lived in the country and there was a blizzard it took EMS 30 minutes to arrive to their house when they finally arrived they managed to revive him and the and then they life flighted him to a bigger hospital all of this happened around 10: p.m. so by the time that P got to the bigger hospital it was around 1:00 a.m. and since it was 4 hours away only my father-in-law headed to the hospital and the rest of

1:02:00

us would head over there in the morning so we went to bed and we got a call in the morning that P had passed away Jay told me weeks later that the same night he dreamt of that girl one last time it was the same scenario except this time instead of pointing to the hill she just stared at my husband and then she looked towards the hill and Jay looked towards the hill and it was P that was hanging there stop this is when everything started to make sense to him the house on the hill as I mentioned before was by a red brick house the home PE currently lived in and where he completed suicide was a red brick house with a tree beside it when they found his phone they found out that he had been planning to do it at the tree but since there was a blizzard he did it inside the home oh my gosh this girl for whatever reason decided to warn my husband about his brother's passing but unfortunately my husband just didn't understand her message his brother was such such a sweet Soul it affected so many people profusely and we miss him every day jay

1:03:00

hasn't seen her since and it's been really hard on him because he feels like maybe he could have prevented it no that's so sad the Homer he saw her originally has since been demolished and when we researched its history nothing came up we will never know who that young girl was and why she presented herself in that way within all that grief P also came to all of us in our dreams the weeks following his death like he was saying his final goodbyes his room was on the second story of the home and my father-in-law my mother-in-law and sister-in-law all heard footsteps his voice calling their names and someone turning on the shower every now and then it wasn't until my father-in-law dreamt of p with his deceased grandpa that they stopped hearing the noises p apparently told him that his grandpa had found him and was ready to take him with him oh that's really sweet P said he was sorry for scaring them and that he tried to talk to Jay but Jay wouldn't let him in my husband was the only one that did not

1:04:00

get to dream of PE all of this has made my husband into the biggest skeptic I know and he's closed himself off so completely to spirits but I do understand his reasoning I love the podcast keep up the great work I don't know what I would do on my commute to work without it see you on the other

Closing thoughts and patreon

side l l this is so tragic and I'm so sorry for your husband's loss and your loss and like this heartache this family went through and also like I feel sad because while this little girl was sharing that message so clearly like there's no way to interpret that or even know what it means and know that you can like there was no prevention of this and that's just like really really tragic yeah and even her own appearance like even if she didn't appear blue with like black lips or anything like that you're still seeing a spirit who's trying to show you a scene of a death and the figure that is dying is blurred out any person would assume that she was trying to say like this is how I died

1:05:00

that's immediately what I thought yeah I wouldn't have ever thought about any other possibility because it that does feel clear like I would be like oh of course she's trying to show me I do wonder if this little girl is connected to their family in some way and not the house you know yeah what if she's El's husband's spirit guide or what if in some strange Haunting of Hill House way it's actually a old version of pe's spirit I don't know interesting very hard yeah it is really horrible that this happened I do feel so horribly for Jay that Jay does feel some sort of regret and confusion and feels like maybe he would have been able to do something I know that it's not helpful to say that that's not the case because you know people grieve and process things in their own way yeah yeah but I do think it's really interesting that P

1:06:00

did come through to everybody's dreams that he clearly was trying to get through to Jay and Jay shouldn't feel like he missed out on something because P still made a point of being like hey by the way Jay I I came to visit you hello I was here just to let you know you weren't forgotten about clearly he means so much to him that he put in that effort too to be like by the way Jay like I'm here for you too and I do love that he came to say like I've been found by grandfather and i' I'm moving on and has not been seen since like it's like a very beautiful peaceful message yeah he was just wandering about his family home with his family around and then after some time his grandpa comes and he's like hey kiddo ready to go I guess well we know that this episode was a little bit sad and death is a bit scary but we also hope that you understand that there is a beautiful side or hopefully this podcast gives you this belief that there is something beautiful to the afterlife and there is something more whatever it is that you believe if you have any
