very spooky hello hello this is two girls one one ghost two girls one ghost and we are your ghostesses that is Karen and I am Sabrina and I am really channeling Marblehead today and I'm wearing a sweater with a lobster on the back are you is this new look at that and last time you were in Marblehead or maybe it was two times ago you bought a sweatshirt that said Marblehead on it mhm I actually don't have that guess I'm channeling Massachusetts I have Nantucket but I also have on my head the state I reside

1:00

the state that grew Me grew you you were a little seed that planted and sprouted out of the earth actually how was the the um Speak Easy Speak Easy it was

The Hidden Door

really cool so this whole episode is going to be about Marblehead so we'll get into more of the hauntings in a minute but we have a lot of banter and chat to unpack you've been exploring for a few weeks now so you've got a lot of places that are new you've never been to before when we had gone previously and we're already being accepted the bartenders at MES know us and Marblehead is known it's a sailor town like it was like a sea port town a lot of lobstermen a lot of like captains of ships and sailors are known for drinking so a lot of these bars in Marblehead that still exist are heavy pouring facilities establishments that's the word I was looking for and we were told told immediately at madd's that the

2:00

alcohol so you have a glass like this alcohol is poured up to here and then the rest is the mixer so good Lord yeah so it's not a place for cocktails it's a place to get [ __ ] up it does explain so much and so many of the the stories I've heard from people who grew up there so then pay and I were seeking cocktails and like a Swanky little [ __ ] tail bar he discovered the secret it's called the hidden door it is a Speak Easy in Marble Head that is hidden MH and Payne got the address and we're like walking over there and I have no idea how he figured out where it was because it is very hidden but you go into this like it's like behind a building kind of down an alley sort of situation and you go into like a sailing yacht like the Boston sale yacht store basically and then then

3:00

there's this like cool bookshelf and there's a door handle hidden in the bookshelf oh see I think I wouldn't have been able to get that far you have to ask them how to get there because some of our friends have been previously and they were describing like where it was but they did not describe that part I think I would have gone into the store and been completely lost yeah if it wasn't the two of us going together we would would have both gotten lost yeah so how was it so when when you walk it's like a small quaint little it's actually bigger than I thought it's bigger than MD's when you go inside yeah W mhm it's very dark and Moody there's no windows there was a live band on Wednesday night and the cocktails are great so that's the spot to go to for good cocktails sweet and have you found any vegetarian places that you like cuz before you were asking and I was starting to ramble off some and you're like none of those are in Marble Head no marble head is not

Marblehead Food

going to be known for its vegetarian food no I've had Caesar salad at every

4:00

restaurant which also is not vegetarian cuz there's anchovy in the dressing but we're just ignoring that well now I feel like you're going to be mostly ve you're not going to be like a true vegetarian now that you live in Marblehead right I did do a a Whole Foods haul and have found not my Satan sausages but the Satan the Upton's brand they have hello they have a little like chorizo crumbles of Satan so I got mac and cheese from Maddie's last night and brought it home and put that in the mac and cheese yum you're a whole new person now that you're in New England just breaking free oh also I hope you guys do this but another cool fact that I know about Marblehead is that if you're a resident you're allowed so many lobster traps a year like you can apply for the the lobster permits and so I'm hoping that you do so we can have some Lobster bakes now that you're resident oh pay has already inquired about the lobster traps and has made friends with someone who will take him

5:00

out to go Lobster trapping okay I figured he would because when I told him about that he got very excited so I was like I don't think he's going to just forget about this fact he's in okay great it was funny so yesterday Payne went to Maddie's when I took a couple calls and so then I went to meet him there afterwards and apparently Gina the bartender had when Payne sat down like announced everyone this is Payne Lindsay he's new here he's just moving in and so everyone at the bar starts chatting him up I come in and these guys are leaving they're like P you gonna come smoke weed with us and I was like what happened in the hour that I left you here well you moved to a little tiny Community I shouldn't call it tiny it feels tiny it's not tiny but it feels tiny yeah and then another guy at the bar was like don't worry I'll watch him he's in good hands like I won't let him go oh my God so fun you're going to freaking love summer I can't wait for that to happen for you guys

6:00

it's it's one of those things where it's like we haven't closed on the house yet so it's like a little bit of the waiting game but I just like want to be in there it's G to happen so soon do you know

Collective Style

what your Collective style is for you in pain because I was just thinking myself I feel like having this colonial house I was like oh I'm totally going to be like way more Colonial way more traditional way more Moody and that was like my entire Pinterest page and as I've been adding some of those elements in I'm like maybe I'm just light white and Airy I think I'm realizing that what I like in photos sometimes isn't what I actually like for my everyday yeah ours is definitely a mix so actually the Airbnb we're staying at the owner of it theres is a interior designer and she was like oh I'll help you and we're like working with her she's great and like we've just become she also lives here and then also in um some ski town in Maine and I'm blanking on the name okay well in Beth There's Sunday River Sunday

7:00

River yes that's the resort in the town of bethl yeah okay Sunday River which is where my family has a house my grammy has a that's where she lips oh I didn't know that okay we can go SK another connection but yeah she's been great and so we've been sending our Pinterest boards to her and we cuz it's three floors and the third floor we're going to try to make this like really cool whiskey Lounge SL recording space and we're very much modeling it after the upstairs at Maddie's oh so cool yeah it almost reminds me of um Union Oyster House in Boston yeah MH yeah where it is very like the wood panel boards and it's real Moody and it's like someone should be smoking a cigar and you should see the ghost of JFK wandering through for sure that's the vibe we're going for and then but we're going to kind of like the lower level is going to be a little bit more Airy traditional Colonial witchy

8:00

Vibe and then as you slowly move up it's going to get a little bit darker and Moody so cool I love it I can't wait but we're returning the home to its original era yeah it still has some of those

Sweet Little Squirrel

elements it does it really really does the dining room and then the upstairs are our big like the third floor are our big projects if that makes sense everything else is going to be less of a too whereas the dining room and the upstairs I feel like there's going to be a lot more like wallpapering bigger Furniture pieces probably like a bar installation and things like that you should also get a telescope a telescope has been on my list just for staring at all cuz you live on the sea I live in the woods yeah and so we both have really good views of the sky now nature in the sky little light pollution so this will be really great it was raining yesterday and I was W I walked to Maddie's oh my God wait this is so sad Okay so yesterday I was getting ready

9:00

for a call and all of a sudden I hear a boom and all of the power goes out and I was like that's weird and then I look around and it wasn't dark enough to know if it was all the other houses yet it was like 400 p.m. so it was like rainy but I wasn't sure if it was just this house or all of them and the power was out for maybe 2 hours theres who owns this home was like I'm going to read this to you she goes apparently this is from the culprit from one of our trusted neighbors welcome to Marblehead all fixed the Char of a squirrel is at the foot of the utility pole a transformer in the circle Street area blue when he made his fateful step from power line to wet utility pole and as I was walking to Maddie's I saw his charred corpse at the bottom of the pole no sweet little squirrel sweet little squirrel oh poor baby it was really sad that's so sad did anyone give him a proper burial I don't know but I'll say a couple of words for him yeah create like a little raft out of some twigs and sent him out to seea

10:00

send him out to sea to a water burial oh man it was so sad but I was like Wow cuz it it kind of sounded like a cannon going off like I don't know is someone doing like a I don't know reenactment well so the yach clubs across well they probably wouldn't be doing in the winter but across on the neck those yacht clubs I know at least one of them has a cannon and at Sunset they'll do like ceremonial Cannon oh things and when you have a wedding if you get married there you can like as a couple blast the cannon at last light and so you guys will definitely hear that because it's the neck is so close to like the actual peninsula of Marble Head it'll just that sound will carry across easily so you're going to hear a lot of that okay well this is a great transition into the episode about haunted Marblehead because when I did my research I took pain on a walking tour afterwards throughout the town and I was like and this is where the screeching lady is anyway we ended up at the Fort seaw wall where there is a cannon that they actually used back in

11:00

one of the wars I think it's one of the oldest SPS in the US so they fired it back in like 20 20 or 2022 something like that and it literally the cannon went 3/4 of a mile that's how far it shot out W yeah and that Canon is still there that's impressive yeah but okay

Marblehead

Marblehead you have heard me talk about it so many times Ken you told me about this town that has forever changed my life two years ago maybe now almost three years ago right M I was in a really like difficult place in my life and felt very creatively dead a lot of my soul was being sucked out of me and I needed something somewhere to go to feel inspired again and you told me about Marblehead and yeah you were coming I think you had like a two or three day trip to visit me something for the podcast yeah yeah and then you were like maybe I'll stay for a few more days and do a writer's retreat and then I said why don't you

12:00

ship it on up to Marblehead yeah that's a great place to do that I did and I fell in love I was inspired instantly upon being here there's just like such a different energy here truly like when I because I've now done this multiple times where I do the Marblehead Trail into Salem and the second I cross out of Marblehead the energy is completely different how Wild is that it's so wild and it's such an incredible place I've been back here multiple times through different seasons and it has continued to be that space for me so I'm so happy for you by the time this episode comes out I'll officially be a resident of Marblehead with a Massachusetts license most likely I know how crazy and you've already had a Cookie Monster and then as soon as you have like a Whoopi pie you're fully New England I think H once I catch my first Lobster then you're Marble Head for sure so as you can kind of tell about Marble Head it's basically the bar cheers but in an entire town where everyone knows

13:00

such a good description it's also incredibly historic and also incredibly haunted it neighbors Salem Massachusetts

Jeremiah Lee Mansion

which everyone knows and it has the most historic homes in a town in the entire us and it's just so incredibly Charming like every street is picturesque even the cemeteries have better views than most people will ever have in their entire lives 100% okay so I'm going to tell you a little bit of history and then I'm going to go into specific spots that are haunted haunted and said to be haunted and I don't actually have this written down but the Jeremiah Lee Mansion is in Marblehead and it has the oldest wallpaper in the US does it yeah I've never walked inside I've only walked through the little Courtyard Garden on the on the edge yeah sometimes they do little antique malls and and craft fairs and stuff there too we should go next time they do it we should do that okay Marblehead Massachusetts is 18 Mi North of Boston and well many people don't know the name or the town it itself I do know most of you probably

14:00

know of a place here it is the cemetery the old Burial Hill because in Hocus Pocus in the beginning of the movie where the bullies steal Max's awesome Nike sneakers it was filmed in Old Burial Hill in Marblehead Massachusetts MH it's also you know the spot where I go and walk and channel my inner Mary shell and it's also the spot where well no it's like the Gazebo next to the cemetery is where Alison and I sat down and she helped me create the bridesma like embroider all of the shirts and and do all that we did it right there yeah we had a little picnic I actually brought that shirt with me on this trip so I will uh go back to where it was created yeah okay so I found a couple of

Marblehead Quotes

quotes about Marblehead on marblehead.org and I just feel like I couldn't have written it better so this was written in the book Marblehead the Spirit of 76 lives here by Priscilla Sawyer Lord and Virginia CLE gamage in

15:00

1972 call it unique picturesque cussed distinctive pixelated fascinating that's Marblehead a town in love with liberty and rugged individualism its people and history its crooked lanes and irregular homes its customs and humor defy Conformity and dullness the irreligious settlers The Adventurous fishermen the zealous Patriots of 1776 the daring privateers of 1812 the Clipper ship captains and yester years's fish pedalers imbued their town with the spirit as hearty as the rocky Peninsula itself beautiful and the infamous horror writer HP Lovecraft was obsessed with the town of Marblehead that he even set many of his stories in a thinly fictionalized version of Marblehead that he called Kingsport and he described this town in his story The fesal as this

HP Lovecraft

16:00

ancient veins and Steeples Ridge poles and chimney pots Wares and small Bridges willow trees and graveyards endless labyrinths of steep narrow crooked streets and dizzy Church crowned Central Peak that time Durst not touch ceaseless Mazes of colonial houses piled and Scattered at all angles and levels like a child's disordered blocks wow I feel like that's very appropriate and also I feel like the Crooked narrow streets is this is a good time to tell everyone that there's one speed limit in Marblehead and that is 30 m hour so it makes sense that it also has a pretty low crime rate because you can't flee easily ever no you're really there's a lot of windy streets and you can't go fast you can't go fast okay but HP Lovecraft also does note that the Blackness to the shaft of nighted mystery soon they became excessively numerous like impious catacombs of nameless Menace and their

17:00

pungent odor of Decay grew quite unbearable I shivered that a town should be so aged and maggoty with Subterranean evil so this town is charming yes but it is flooded with history and haunts the energy is palpable I felt it the moment that I arrived here and feel like I've been more in tune with my paranormal predilections since being here yes

History

Marblehead has a screeching woman a wizard ACC used which is haunted schools and so much more a little bit more history before we get to all of that long before the first colonizers arrived Marblehead was inhabited by the Nam tribe Native Americans belonging to the alonquin nation and they first named their settlement massab quash then the first peoples to actually migrate to this area came from Salem in the 1600s because Salem was very very religious they were Puritans and they were very strict about it so the people who fled Salem to Marblehead were seeking freedom

18:00

from the Puritan lifestyle it is said that these people who came here from Salem lived in harmony with the namk people but then sadly diseases like small poox and you know all those things that us settlers brought over with us began to kill many of the native peoples and their population began to dwindle

Marblehead History

yeah on December 12th 1648 Salem approved to Grant Marblehead in dependence and on September 16th 1684 the settlers bought the 3,700 Acres that is now known as Marblehead from the Nam people for a total of 16b oh not enough no and the original deed and decree is actually hanging in I think it's the town hall there's a photo of it by 1629 the town was developing their industry so fishing shoe manufacturing a summer Resort and has

19:00

since then become the yachting capital of the world it is said that the US Navy was born in Marblehead although that is like Up For Debate by a lot of people but Marblehead claims that and the town played an important role in the Revolutionary War there's so many historic sites here and apparently a famous molasses cookie was invented here that was originally baked for fisherman to take on their long voyages it is home to three renowned Harbors there's fresh fish fish lobsters and many ghostly residents this is making me want to move to Marblehead okay come on in come on over I already tried we almost bought a house there I know a little too close to the dump for us that house yeah there was like the dump was literally right behind it the dump has some issues in Marblehead and there was some seepage and yeah yeah it just probably if you're looking for land it's very limited yeah unless you have $6 million to live in Beach's point or the neck on

20:00

the neck and I don't no I am excited

Witch Trials

though we do have a small little backyard with a lump of grass that looks like someone was buried there perfect that's that's all you guys need that's perfect despite their independence from Salem Marblehead was also plagued by the neighboring Witch Trials and one resident Wilmont red was found guilty of Witchcraft and executed by hanging on September 22nd 169 to in Salem Massachusetts Wilmont red was accused of bewitching Mary Walcott and mercy Lewis and she was apprehended on May 28th 1692 in order to like see if their accusation was correct they brought her in front of the two girls who accused her of this and it was the first time Willmont red had ever seen these two girls I hate that so much just the whole way that the witch trials happened in this area is so aw it's so annoying it

21:00

makes me so mad at pubescent girls right right we're evil cuz they started it yeah truly so on May 31st 1692 after already being arrested for her crimes Wilmont red was taken in front of Mary Walcott and mercy Lewis and these two girls promptly fell into fits as they did you know many times mhm Wilmont apparently just stood there and was like my opinion is that these two girls are in a sad condition yeah clearly she was just like they have something going on and it yeah it has nothing to do with me so leave me out of it yeah sorry that you're like that regardless of never having met these girls prior to this she was found guilty and executed by hanging on September 22nd 1692 Marblehead has since honored her with markers at the old Burial Hill Cemetery and they named the pond that is adjacent to the cemetery Red's Pond and I actually took pain there the other day we walked past it and I took a picture of the sign is that the pond that in the

22:00

winter when it freezes over people go ice skating on it I don't know I think

Old Burial Hill

it might be it does look like a pond that people would go ice skating on cuz it's very shallow too so freezes over more quickly yeah old Burial Hill burial grounds is reported to be haunted by Wilmont red and seven other men and women who were accused of Witchcraft but this was only reported in one source and every time that I go over there it has a very very peaceful calming feeling so I really hope it's not being haunted I also don't know that it would be because their bodies are not actually buried there there's more of just like an a plaque to honor them right but there are other hauntings that happen there people report hearing disembodied voices footsteps seeing shadow figures and apparitions I will continue to go there I will go at all times of the day and I will report back if I hear or see anything perfect okay this is an interesting report there was one thing that said that people claim Marble Head

23:00

was built on top of an entrance to hell what I've never heard that listen it doesn't feel that way it doesn't feel that way I think that this was made up by middle schoolers because it is said that this portal is underneath the Middle School oh and so I think it's just kind of like going back to like prepubescent girls making up things well Middle School surely feels like hell sometimes so I get it people have reported Poltergeist apparitions orbs there's Al apparently a gray lady people feel watched in the school hallways and then this is super sus to me so the middle school girls locker room is said to be haunted by a man who passed away in a motorcycle accident nearby the school which to me is really creepy like sorry that you passed away why haunt the middle school girls locker room not cool with me that's gross and let's go take some of our cleansing equipment over there and get rid of it yes agreed okay this one was cool though so there is one

24:00

report of a UFO in Marblehead Massachusetts really it was reported to the National UFO Reporting Center on September 10th 2004 someone reported seeing a bluish metallic liquid orb SLS sphere flying over the Marblehead Middle School who wait when was this 2004 oh 2004 interesting I mean it does make sense cuz there's plenty of sightings of UFOs 100 miles south in the Bridgewater Triangle then we have Betty and Barney Hill up in the Portsmouth and Franconia Notch distance of New Hampshire so there's plenty of really big cases that have happened within the vicinity of Marblehead but that's recent that's not like oh in 1950 someone yeah I mean again it's the only one reported to the National UFO Reporting Center but hey maybe my chances of getting abducted are higher

25:00

here I know I want to ask Brian has a couple friends who grew up there and they still live in Marblehead and I want to I want to ask them if they remember this you should yeah another haunted

Old Fort Seawall

spot is the Old Fort seaw wall which you and I K walk to yeah it was constructed in 1742 by British military forces although when I was over there I'm pretty sure it says like it was built in the 1600s so I don't know I have a photo let me look because there's some beautiful flowers planted right behind the sign here's my photo with the lilacs so pretty what year does it say it says 1630 Fort Seawall oh but then it says built in 1742 for defense against French Cruisers USS Constitution sought shelter under the fort's guns when chased by HMS there's a lot of plants in the way so I'm struggling a little bit 10 10 to something it's blocked okay so what was the first date so the first date on top of the plaque says 1630 it

26:00

says 1630 and then it says 1930 okay then it say built in 1742 so it must have been used as something in 1630 when it was first built but I think the fort that exists there was constructed in 1742 okay by the British forces and it is one of the oldest Coastal forts in the United States and was added to the National Registry of historic places in April of 1975 it was rebuilt in 1775 to include a cell block for captured prisoners of war and then again was used during the Revolutionary War the War of 1812 and the Civil War so there's a lot of War we you can see the cell block remember we 10 yeah yeah so there's a lot of War here and now it's a park a lot of people walk around there you know what I love about Marblehead is every little Park area has so many benches for you to look out at the water so many you're just supposed to sit there and enjoy the sea and look at the boats yeah the last time

27:00

I was walking there I was alone I was meeting Allison and Sally for drinks at the Barnacle pre pregnancy and there was this woman sitting on a bench and she was with her like daughter or something and they were a lot older like this was our grandparents and parents age and she said something to her daughter about like did you know that this is where your dad proposed to me or something like that it was something about like their love story and I was like oh my God I want to just like stop and sit right here and listen to her story but I didn't want to be creep sweet yeah it was so sweet and they were just sitting on a bench looking out on the water and this older woman was like reminiscing about her love story with her I don't know if her husband was still alive but like with her daughter beautiful her love story I know you can also apparently see ghosts at the Fort seaw wall so you can also hear Beautiful Stories and SE ghost if you walk through Fort seaw wall at night you may be joined by Ghostly apparitions of those who fought in the many wars or those who

28:00

were held prisoner during those Wars the area has high levels of electromagnetic energy despite having no electricity there are rumors of a vast network of underground tunnels throughout Marblehead interesting that all connect to the Fort seaw wall this has not been proven but apparently there's This Old House the king Hooper mansion in town that in the cellar has this like sealed off door that no one knows where it goes or leads to and so people are like oh that's where one of the tunnels must be oh my gosh why is no one looking open it up I know I think it's like sealed in I wonder if it's a tunnel it could be like a Speak Easy situation Underground Railroad situation I don't know I'm so curious about it now I'm going to obsess over this okay well maybe my my house will have some answers for us yeah there

White Wizard of Marblehead

was a paranormal group of investigators who caught an EVP at the seaw wall of a voice help and they all felt like a

29:00

spirit was standing behind them but again it's like not clear who it is or what's happening there mhm but actually I was really excited so as I was packing up my stuff to come fly out here I found so many books that people have given us over the years and I found one called spooky Massachusetts and I was like hm I wonder if there's anything about Marblehead in here there is really I was so oh my God so good and this story is like not anywhere really on the internet when you really look it up I mean because I had his name because of the book I was able to find some information but this is like this is the story of the white wizard of Marblehead so I'm going to tell you a little bit of the history about this man and then I'm going to read a portion from the book so Edward Dimond was a retired ship's Captain who lived at the foot of the old Burial Hill in the early 1700s but he was more than just a fellow resident to the town of Marblehead and he was more more than a retired ship captain in fact he was more

30:00

than just man he was an angel Among Us a messenger of God a white wizard Edward had powers that he could conjure up and those in town knew it to be true he was tall he was imposing and he was a respected old man who could help influence the weather predict the future and look into the past he apparently this woman was a widow and a bunch of Thieves came and stole all of her firewood and she was now like worried about staying warm in the winter and so she went to Edward Demond and he was able to track this thief made him return all of the wood and in addition basically made this like put this magical punishment on this thief that every time he was bringing like he had to transport the wood back to This Woman's house it was as if he was walking with a heavy log attached to his back the entire time my God and you just know that this man is so

31:00

magical because the fact that the thief even feared him enough to say okay I will go through this punishment of returning all of the wood instead of just being like whatever man yeah wasn't me this is my wood reports stated that on stormy nights Edward could be seen standing at the top of the old Burial Hill with a cape swirling in the wind calling out to the forces of nature demanding that the winds and rough sea calm and bring home the ship safely to Marblehead oh my gosh I'm obsessed with him I know what a guy uhhuh and this is wild so apparently seen people who were out on ships like who are from Marblehead on stormy nights would hear in the storm the sound of Edward's voice I literally just got chills all over my body that is so wild I know oh God he was like their protector the protector of Marblehead he's what does name what's Ariel's father King

32:00

Tron yeah that makes sense cuz that's like the Greek god of water and weather I think I would assume that's who he is I think so okay so now I'm going to read a passage from this book it is called spooky Massachusetts and these stories are retold it says retold by s e scaer and it's written in first person so I'm not sure if this is like their stories or if it's him retelling stories that he has has heard from family members or what but it's not very clear yeah or if like there was some way that he got submissions and yeah I don't know but in this story the man's name is Silas and Silas recalls growing up down the street from Edward Dimond and Edward Dimond lived in Marble Hood in the 1700s so this is it's not present day so this story I'm not going to read the whole thing but basically it starts with Silas peering in on Edward doing his magic one

Weather Wizard of Marblehead

of my first memories was slipping into the the graveyard to watch Edward working his magic spells he was a

33:00

weather Wizard and could summon the Thunder clear the Mist calm all but the most raging storms and bring rainbows out of a clear blue sky I sat very still and watched Edward with his patched jacket and wild white hair passing Among the Tombstones he walked in a broad Circle and then bent and wrote something in the dirt he finished writing the outer edge of the circle flared with sudden light and then went dark safe inside this magic Fortress Edward picked up a picture of water lying at his feet and poured it on top of a long flat tomb instead of dribbling off the edges the water began to swirl around and took on the appearance of the sea the water turned a turquoise blue like the waters that Dad had described in the Caribbean and I saw many Tropical Islands dotting the area between massive coral reefs he spoke a few words in a language I didn't recognize the words made red Sparks dance in front of my eyes and my ears Fizz for a moment then a yellow light appeared heading directly Into the Storm the yellow light gradually took the

34:00

shape of a ship Edward watched it frowning for a moment then passed his hand over it and started nudging it toward calming water waa the sparrow hawk silus Edward said conversationally toward the tombstone where I was hiding as he dismantled the spell I could sense she was heading into danger so I came here to see what I could do tucking the pitcher under one arm he caught me by the hand and swung me upright keeping hold of my small hand he led me from the cemetery and told me I watched watch over them all of the ships that Sail Out Of The Harbor and many others beside I watch over your dad too you may tell your mother to expect him home Thursday with a fine cargo and many presents for all of you wow so he's more than just a conductor for the weather he's also a Seer CU he can literally see what's going on with these people they like he's just so powerful when did he pass away do we know or like generally when he lived he lived in the 1700s his daughter was born in 1738 okay so yeah no he didn't die in

35:00

2004 then which is what my mind was thinking you go back to the UF did the spaceship come to collect him yeah okay so his daughter Maul Dion pitcher was born in 1738 and it was written that in quotes royalty of Europe as well as Maids of America sought to learn the future from her so people from all over the world knew of maul and her ability that she inherited from her father to to tell the future and predict the future okay this is very interesting because we do know that a lot of people who live in Marblehead there's multiple Generations people don't often leave Marblehead MH and so I'm so curious if any of their descendants are still in Marble Head okay so I did see there was a house by the old Burial Hill because they're all very very old and I was like if he lived over here is there a house that has his name on it and there was a house for William Diamond who was a ship master in

36:00

1710 I haven't looked at all the houses so I will continue to look and see if his house is I'm curious so Maul Dion

Maul Dion Pitcher

pitcher inherited these gifts from her father and she was said to have predicted the outcome of the Battle of Bunker Hill it was also said that she acted as a double agent to help the Patriotic cause and sailors and sea captains refused to leave port if she predicted bad weather so they really really took what she had to say to Heart fully trusted her I mean I'm sure there were so many examples where someone didn't and they didn't farewell so right I don't even know her and I would trust her too exactly okay I'm going to end with one final haunting the screeching Lady of Lois Cove right off Front Street frighteningly close to where I will be living is a well-known restaurant and spot for fresh Lobster and you just mentioned it the barnacle it is said apparently I don't know if this is true maybe you'll know more than I do but that when it's like a really stormy wavy night the waves like literally hit the

37:00

side of the Barnacle yeah I think that's true really oh that's wild cuz the tide comes up and then all those little Coes the little beaches that are right there when it's high tide they're covered you can't even walk on them so when there's a big storm it doesn't take that much effort to get a few more feet up and slap the sides well and in Swampscott actually there was so right down the road is a town called swamp Scott and one of the restaurants that is on the edge of the cliff started to basically fall into the ocean last year or the year before from the waves hitting it and the big storms coming in so it does happen but probably a little bit less intense right where the Barnacle is because it is in sort of like this Cove Marina situation well that's the Cove that is haunted by the screeching lady actually this story is really really sad so I hope that the screeching lady is a residual haunting o okay so she's we know now that she the reason why she might be screeching is it's not a good thing yeah okay according to

38:00

locals in written lore this Cove is haunted by a screeching lady apparently back in the 17th century Spanish Pirates raided a ship out at Sea and they basically stole all of these goods and valuables off the people and slaughtered the people on the boat but there was this one woman who had this beautiful emerald ring on her finger and based on like swelling they couldn't get the ring off of her finger but they wanted the ring so they basically kept her alive and kept her took her on board their pirate ship and they were like we'll figure out what to do with her later oh God these Pirates continued to sail yeah already not good vibes I kind of thought that they would just cut her finger off and deal with it that way which honestly might be a better option than being taken aboard with all of these Pirates

The Screaming Lady

yeah there is one version that like at the end they do that but so they bring her onto the ship and they continue to

39:00

sail and continue to look for places to raid and pillage and they spot this tiny little town of Marblehead and they're like that looks like a town we should go do our pirate thing in and this woman seeing that she is close to land for the first time is like this might be my only opportunity to try to escape so she jumps off the ship and swims to Shore and unfortunately the Pirates catch her so the Pirates came to land as well and I guess like didn't find anything worth stealing in the town of Marblehead and I guess a lot of the residents who lived in Marblehead fled when they saw the pirate ship coming so they went into hiding and the Pirates came and as they were leaving they they found this woman on the Cove which is now called Lois Cove and decided to murder her and and they did eventually take off the emerald

40:00

ring from her finger I'm not sure one Legend says that they cut her hand off to take it but said that all the town's people of Marblehead who fled could hear the screams of this lady as she was being murdered by the Pirates oh no and after the Pirates left the town's people came and discovered the mutilated murdered body of this woman on Lois Cove they felt so guilty for not having helped her which how much could they have done anyway but they felt really really sad so they gave her Proper Burial I'm not sure where they buried her body but they gave her a proper burial and unfortunately people still to this day claim to hear her screams at Lis Cove wow any time of year yeah any time of day I don't know I wrote hopefully only residually her spirit continues to haunt the cove and that her cries and screams can be heard from there dang I was also thinking like how would you sometimes in the summer people

41:00

are just screaming with joy so like how would you maybe necessarily know if it's just like a bunch of kids screaming bloody murder as they like play tag right or if this was the screeching lady the screeching woman of Marblehead that makes me very sad for her I really thought she was going to be some like magical spooky wizard witch type of lady who just like turns into a Albatross and screeches As She Goes over the Cove it sounds like that's not what happens no

Marblehead Hauntings

unfortunately that is not the case pay and I did sit and eat and have a drink at the Barnacle overlooking the Cove the other day and I did not hear any screeches I've asked a couple people if they've experienced any hauntings in the town and so far I've gotten a I feel like I really should believe in that stuff but I haven't yet someone said like the yacht club there's a lot of like stuff with elevators and things that happen there but the owner of this house says she and I agreed with that

42:00

she was like this house has a feminine like Soul energy to it yeah well perhaps Marblehead perhaps you'll experience more of these things because you have been way more in tune recently with things so perhaps you'll notice them perhaps they'll just show themselves to you you're one more open energy added to the community so maybe all those people were like I don't believe are suddenly going to be hearing the screeching lady every night I hope I don't trigger that haunting I if anything I hope true I bring forth like the spirit of the white Wizard or something if the wizard returns I'm going to just camp out I think at the cemetery and watch him every night I don't know thing ever yeah I'm going to buy a house boat and just be right in front watching this thing just camp out on the pond so cool Marble Head really is magical beautiful yeah I think when you and I talk about Marblehead 2 we both are very specifically thinking about the old historic district because that's where we spent most of our time right when we

43:00

were there there's other parts too there are other parts but this is the most historic part and yeah and every time people are like so where where are you moving and we say we're moving into the old historic part they're like oh like that's the right choice it's so great and then there's so much that you can walk to as well yeah yeah like there's so many little clusters of downtown there are some good ice cream shops you can get to I'm trying so I'll have to ask Allison about it because she told me this really interesting story about one of the houses that's like out kind of on its own little Peninsula or like the ruins of a house or whatever and about this guy that owned it and there's she was telling me this as we were looking for a seal glass as we were walking the shore and now of course I can't remember any information but one day I will tell you there's this one house that

Hof C Castle

literally looks like a castle or a church turned into a house we walked past it the other day and saw the man entering the home and we were like do you live here and we were expecting the house have built like been built in the 1600s cuz it looks it looks like it's

44:00

built out of the same rock that the Old Fort seaw wall is built out of which was early you know and he was like it was built in 1920 what yeah it you know what I appreciate that so much because not to shame someone and someone with a [ __ ] ton of money but it was the uh owner of Restoration Hardware I believe that built two houses on goose Rocks Beach in Kenny buunk Port m and he did not match The Vibes at all I of what was there and people hated it so much that it literally constituted everyone going and like voting in the town hall and they made new rules where there's now restrictions on what sort of designs you can do good so I'm glad that he matched the vibe he looked around and he was like I'm choosing to be here because this is the vibe and not just trying to declare something new in this space let me find it for you so you can see it it's um right next to Crocker Park oh it's called Hof C Castle it's a historical landmark Castle I want to see

45:00

pictures oh so beautiful it's literally a castle oh as of 2006 the owners have offered the carriage house as a bed and breakfast the great room has not been part of the rental but guests are typically offered a tour of it and the rest of the castle it was completed in June of 1927 wow it was built by the stone blasted from the ledge upon which it stands that is so cool yeah I guess most of Marblehead is just like on a rock yeah wow this is so cool anyway fascinating I'm going to become friends with the owner and get a tour please take me with you if you get that opportunity yeah I will absolutely okay much to my disappointment we did not have any stories from Marblehead but

Salem MA

surprisingly every time I post about it on my story everyone's like oh my gosh I love Marblehead or oh my gosh I have family who lives there but I guess no hauntings experienced by these people not yet or they're all so good that like it's you know peaceful not something worth talking about let's hope but I do

46:00

have well we had many stories about a place that is just next door which is Salem Massachusetts so I pulled a couple stories to read about Salem okay and so I'm going to read those to you now and this one's from Michaela and Michaela did share a couple other stories that I'm going to share on our encounters okay on patreon I'll read those ones but Michaela wrote hey ghostly girls if you're reading this amazing my name is Michaela I started watching SL listening about a month ago and it's been my fave podcasts truly make you feel like you know these people personally parasocial relationship in the Paranormal podcast meta AF anyways here are three stories and two of them I'll read on our patreon episode and for today I'm going to read about the Old Salem House haunting that Michaela has so after watching so many podcasts I needed to talk about the subject with someone fortunately my Virgo boyfriend loves a rant about a subject and he is

47:00

the best candidate for a discourse and I asked him if he believes in the Paranormal and he said with some hesitation yes he's only had one personal encounter but boy one enough the story he told me was so spooky that just him telling me the story has me replaying it in my mind oh oh my boyfriend grew up in Danvers Massachusetts which is is part of Old Salem Massachusetts and is connected to the witch trials which actually so the John Proctor house which is one of the historical and connected to which trial hous is it's technically in Danvers I think a lot of people who go visit Salem want to go see that house it's in Danvers but it's Old Salem and so so is this house okay so from the jump this house was haunted he grew up until the age of 6 years old in this house which was built in the 1700s and he can't remember exactly the age but probably he was 5 or 6 years old when one night he

48:00

woke up and he was scared he jumped out of his bed and he ran to his parents room however in the darkness in front of his parents room there were three faces all aligned he described as the see no evil speak no evil hear no evil monkey oh that's so creepy one face he described as intense with Despair and anguish possibly a woman the next face was of a person smiling but in a really evil and Sinister way he thinks that this was a man the next face he said he couldn't really see because it was just so terrible and he said the other two were enough to make him run back to his bed and hide under the covers until the next morning that's so sad I know I also could tell that he hadn't thought about this memory in a long time as he was having a reaction when sharing this story so I knew that he was for real I told him that it could have possibly been a stain from the energies who suffered from Evil here he got the chills and he seemed to not like that he then reflected on it a bit and said the basement had dark energy and that

49:00

there were several people that had severely hurt themselves including himself when trying to go down that spiral staircase he said his dad would say every night that he saw this woman in a white night gown sat on the edge of the bed spooky I was on the edge of my seat as he was telling me this story seriously stay spooky and see you on the other side XOXO Michaela I feel so sad that he was

Haunted Bachelorette Weekend

seeking solace from his parents and literally blocked by horrific entities ew I'm thinking too of Haunting of Hill House where Nell's face when she's like when her spirit comes out of the back of the car yeah you know that kind of like jump scare moment where she's like and her face is so creepy I'm like picturing one of them having that face so scary so scary okay I have one more and it is called Haunted Bachelorette weekend oh B Lett hello I discovered your podcast about a month

50:00

ago and I haven't listened to anything else since I don't have many ghost stories but I have always loved ghost tours fortune telling and hauntings so when it was time to plan my bachelorette party I invited all of my friends to Salem Massachusetts I love that yeah one of us and then at the time they said shout out Karen because I was the only Mass resident but you're soon to be too so I'll I'll add a shout out to both of us okay thank you we all wanted to stay in one big Airbnb but a lot in the area Market themselves as being haunted I avoided those houses because I wanted a fun and spooky Bachelorette but not a scary spooky Bachelorette right turns out we got a haunted house despite all of my efforts my sister and I were arrived at the house first and she opened the front door with the airb PE code as soon as she turned the knob and opened the door I heard what sounded like a distant scream or growl and I looked at her like what the f but she looked like she didn't hear hear anything so I assumed maybe I was just imagining things and I pretended nothing

51:00

had happened as we went around prepping things for the guests I kept thinking that I heard my friends come in through the front door I'd rush to the foyer like hey all ready for some warm welcomes but there would be nobody there again my sister didn't hear anything and the house was old and it had a lot of nooks and crannies so I assumed maybe I was just hearing noises carrying or something this is like one of those things where she probably was would have been safer booking one that claimed to be haunted 100% yeah this is also reminding me of Jerry and Sierra how Jerry booked the house for right before Sierra's wedding and it was it was for sure haunted yeah oh my God once my friends arrived we showed them around in assigned rooms and I joked that the house might be haunted or maybe it's just strange three of my friends were staying in the attic and as they were unpacking one starts saying things like if there are spirits here let yourself be known give us a sign so she's saying this while the other two are not into this at all there was a little attic closet in the room and my not into it friend swears that this closet was

52:00

closed before the other girl started reaching out to the spirits but the next time they looked at that door it was open but not open properly like the hinges had come out of the wall and it had been propped open backwards that nope also like how do you not hear that it's so creepy this all happened Friday night and on Saturday morning we had a Tarot reader coming into the house to read for us my sister was helping helping her settle in for the readings and unprompted the tarot reader said there are the spirits of two mischievous little boys here have they been messing with you during the intention setting ritual she asked the boys to stay out of the house until the end of the weekend for us nothing else happened after that except a Jam Jar falling off from a high shelf that seemed nowhere near the edge to us but let's be honest we were a little Rowdy my sister looked it up later and it turns out we were staying in the house next door to one of the most haunted houses in Salem who knew I love that so

53:00

much whoops see you on the other side Sarah okay well Sarah it sounds like you got what you asked for with a spooky Bachelorette maybe it was a little bit more spooky but I do like that at least they were like mischievous kids spirits and not MH anything malicious yeah right and then they respected the boundaries once the ter reader was like Hey totally it does make me wonder like are they full-time residents of that house or are attached to the house that's next door the most haunted one of the most haunted ones and they just kind of play and wander around various homes within like a block radius or something I'm curious which house this was Sarah will you tell us which which one is the notoriously haunted house in Salem that you were near I want to know let's find out and then let's go there and then we can go easily let's stay there and then when we're scared enough we'll be like actually let's go to Maddie's and get a drink and do can go this is a fun one I love learning
