Many different animal tracks from elk, deer, mountain lion, and human feet.
Uh, and the camera never picked anything up.
Uh-uh.
Thank goodness we don't record at night anymore cuz this is one of those stories that had we
that that would keep us up.
This is an Encounters episode all about going camping, hiking, doing some weird [ __ ] out in the wilderness, and how terrifying and haunting those experiences
Doing weird [ __ ] More like experiencing weird [ __ ]
[music and singing]
Very spooky.
Hello. I have a request.
What?
Would you like to go deep into the woods with us?
And uh get murdered?
[snorts]
Oh my gosh. I'm so used to hearing
1:00
panic for a second.
I'm so used to hearing so many different things come out of you.
[laughter]
That is not one
gargled snort. Guys, I'm falling apart. It's mostly burps that get cut out, but jeez jeez Louise.
But you got a snort.
Now you got a snort. We'll keep that one in.
You're welcome.
How yucky was that?
to go into the woods and hear Karen snort?
[laughter]
Um hi.
a little pig.
Hello. This is Two Girls One Ghost.
Two Girls One Ghost.
And we are your ghostesses. That is Karen. Hello. I am Sabrina and yeah, this is an Encounters episode all about going camping, going into the woods, hiking, doing some weird [ __ ] out in the wilderness, and how terrifying and haunting those experiences
Doing weird [ __ ] More like experiencing weird [ __ ]
Weird [ __ ] being done to you.
Yeah. Just trying to go out and have a normal time with nature, connect with the trees.
Is there any normal time in nature?
2:00
I don't know.
Cuz even when you're grounding, there's like a magical energy happening.
There's no bed rotting in nature.
Something's always going on.
Yeah.
Whether good or bad.
haunted dildo
I forgot one of my the subject line
line.
I [laughter] forgot.
Let's start with it.
Okay. It's called a haunted dildo, and you might be like, "Sabrina, what does that have to do with the woods and camping and hiking?"
If there was one mention of a tree,
[laughter]
she pulled it.
I mean, one sure way to get your story picked by me is if there's like sex with ghost or something a sexual innuendo. I'm a 12-year-old boy at heart.
[laughter]
Okay. Hello, spooky [ __ ] or booches. I hope you're doing especially well on the beautiful solstice day. This was sent in December 2025. I have two stories for you, and I promise I am not catfishing you with my subject line. One is the funniest thing that has probably
3:00
ever happened to me, and the other is the freakiest.
Ooh.
We'll start with the freaky one.
The dildo?
No, the freaky is the funny.
Oh, oh my [laughter] god. It could work for both.
Freaky in different ways, yeah. Getting freaky.
Freak-a-leek.
Actually, my name is in the song Freak-a-leek, and I love it because of that, yeah.
Well, how is it?
Sabrina.
[laughter]
Sabrina.
It's like when he's listing a bunch of names.
You're one of the top 50.
Yeah, I can't get those bracelets or things at like souvenir shops that say your name, but I got Freak-a-leek, so
[laughter]
I'm good. Okay. My name is Amelia, and I am from Mississippi, or as we lovingly call it, and I've never heard this, Moistissippi.
Ew, I haven't heard that either. It's accurate.
Yeah.
But it's gross.
Fun fact, it does not get cold enough here for bears to hibernate, which is relevant later, I swear. I was raised, as everyone else was here, conservative and Christian, neither which are inherently bad things, but I also grew up in the time when children still played outside and I was always in the mud, mixing sticks and leaves and making
4:00
potions. During COVID, I slowly grew away from the church and she put a TM next to church. And I started trying to figure out what I really believe. And spoiler, I still don't know. Life is crazy, people are crazy, so still figuring it out. But in 2023, we moved to the coast for my husband's job. He's an architect for NASA, which I think is awesome. So do we. And it was here that I made a wonderful friend who is a witch. I had never met anyone who was actually a witch, so I was very intrigued and wanted to learn more. I borrowed a couple of books from her and I started doing simple cleansing and protection spells, which is basically all I do. My husband is a city boy who was raised in Charlotte and he had never been camping until last year. He has dreams of primitive camping and hunting and fishing for his food. I love camping, but peeing in the woods is not something I enjoy doing.
No, me neither.
So in January, when he said he wanted to go for a 13-mile hike and primitive
5:00
camp, I told him, "Bring a friend."
[laughter]
That's appropriate. I just saw a meme the other day that said, "The best thing about camping is you don't have to do it."
[laughter]
I will say the one thing about camping that I would be really good at is peeing in the woods. Like I'm great at dropping trou and peeing in the woods.
pee down my own leg when I try. Like I feel like I can't
You got to get more experience.
I got to get deeper in the squat.
Or you just have to like have a bad bladder and so you've had to stop so many times and pee in random places. Yeah. Okay. Did I mention, like every other person my age, I have anxiety. Growing up, I would always pray for safety before trips and flying and car rides. And now I had something else I could try. I was scrolling one day and I I this video for a protection spell where you write the person's name and draw a circle with oil and then make a ring of salt and burn the paper it's written on. The edges burn, but everything within the ring of salt and oil is protected. So I'm like, great, this is perfect. My husband and his
6:00
friend are going camping. I'm going to write my husband's name and his friend's name that are going camping and do this protection spell. Cuz she was nervous about her husband camping. So I write their names and draw the circle. I pour the salt. I throw a chunk of tiger's eye in there for extra protection strength. I burn the paper and I exhale and tell myself that I've done everything I can to keep them safe on their adventure. The next morning I get a text from my husband that they only made it half of the distance that they wanted to go and that they're turning around and not finishing the hike. That was all of the information I got. But of course, I was worried. Like any reason for them to turn around and not finish the hike felt like something had gone wrong.
Right.
Hours later, my husband finally got home and he tells me what happened. So the trail that they were hiking was not well kept. So they weren't able to go as far and they decided to make camp about 5 miles in. This is supposed to be a 13-mile hike.
Mhm.
They found a circle clearing. They set up their tents about 10 ft apart, got a little fire going, and once it got dark,
7:00
they put the fire out and got in their tents. About 45 minutes later they heard heavy footsteps circling their tents. He didn't say how many times it circled the tent, but it circled for a long time. Stomping and huffing. And then it laid down between their two tents and he said he never heard it leave.
Oh my gosh.
And then
Oh, Bigfoot just wanted to camp with them.
A sleepover
Just okay, I'll lay right here and then I'll just pretend like we're all holding hands.
It's also like a dog who like has to like circle the bed a million times before like finally finding the laying comfortable position.
He didn't feel so lonely in that moment cuz you could hear your own heart.
He could hear your own breathing. It was comforting to him. In the morning, my husband and his friend looked out of their tents and whatever it was, it had gone. They packed up their tents and scooted out of the woods as fast as possible. They both heard everything that happened the night before and then stayed in their tents cuz they were so scared. But the reason this freaks me out so much is that I still had my spell
8:00
on the plate when he got home. And his name and the friend's name inside of the circle and the chunk of tiger's eye was sitting directly between the two pieces of paper with their names on it. What do you think? Did my spell work? Did it work too well? Did I accidentally summon something to protect them while they slept? That's what I believe, but it gives me the heebie-jeebies thinking about it.
I mean, she did also mention that bears don't hibernate down there.
But there was no like evidence of anything having been there.
Yeah, and you think the bear would have gone for like food or something? That they'd hear the noises of a bear cuz I don't think it just
No, they just heard like breathing and stomping.
Yeah.
Like breathing and heavy breathing and like moving around the tents. And the the protection spell that Amelia did was making a circle, going around the tents, the two names on pieces of paper inside the circle, and the tiger's eye in between their two names.
Does this mean that her familiar is
9:00
Is it a Bigfoot?
Is it a Bigfoot? Or like a bear of some sort? Like something magical and spiritual from the wilderness?
All I know is I feel like you got to do it again. Send your husband and his friend out camping again and do the same protection spell and see if it happens again. It's a scientific experiment.
Kind of crazy.
Isn't that really cool?
Yeah.
Yeah, that it's like perfectly mirrored.
I know.
You're a witch.
You're a witch.
And then also, yes, it's scary, but it sounds like both her husband and her husband's friend didn't leave the tents, which granted, I probably wouldn't either because like going out to the danger seems scarier. But they both stayed in their tents like the whole night and like slept. So they were protected.
They were.
Nothing harmed them.
Nothing pawed or clawed at the tent. It just simply sat.
But we snuggled. Okay. And here for the subject line, haunted dildo. So this was a couple months ago. It was a Tuesday after a day I had off of work. So I have my alarm set for Monday through Friday, so I never have to think about them. But
10:00
because it was a holiday, I had turned off the alarm on Sunday night and forgot to turn it back on before bed on Monday. I like to wake up really early so I have enough time to sit in the dark, drink a cup of coffee, and take things slowly in the morning. Because if I have to rush out the door, I'm a total [ __ ] and I'll be angry the rest of the day. I am a lady. And like all ladies, I have a nice little this discreet box on my nightstand full of toys. It would be more discreet if the box wasn't overflowing and the lid would fit on it, but that's another issue. [laughter]
It's overflowing. How many toys do you have?
[laughter]
I need a bigger box. Wait, for the toys for your box.
When was it that I pitched the dildo, a Bigfoot dildo?
Oh god, I don't [laughter] even remember that happening.
Yeah, it was many years ago. I pitched that we come out with like a line of like haunted dildos, but it's like a Bigfoot, an alien, a ghost.
[laughter]
A one that has a a voice record recorded of moaning, but it's supposed to be a ghost.
11:00
Anyhow.
Random screams. You don't [laughter] know what interval it's going to happen at.
It's like a wailing woman.
[laughter]
The Bigfoot is just like really aggressive.
off.
The Bigfoot is just really aggressive like animal calls. We we use the Bigfoot sounds.
[laughter]
All right, these are not turning anyone on.
You know, we haven't quite figured out how to get people to buy it yet.
[laughter]
Listen, this is a business that lives literally on this podcast and it exist in real life.
collector's item only. [laughter] Keep them in the box.
One day.
It's like the like vintage Barbies. Put them in your basement.
Yeah, you don't open it. You don't open it.
No, it's like yeah, it's a collector's item.
Okay, so of course this morning my alarm did not go off. About 10 minutes after our alarm normally goes off, something started buzzing. Immediately I grabbed my phone to turn off my alarm, but it's not my alarm. So I'm like, "Hmm, that's weird." I wake up, I turn the light on and I start looking for
12:00
what's vibrating, and I realize the noise is coming from my nightstand. And my husband does not like to wake up as early as I do, so he rolls over and says, "Please turn that alarm off." And I'm like, "It's not my alarm." So I'm trying to find what is making this racket, and I notice it is coming from my special little fun box. So I grab the lid and I see that the dildo on top is going full force. We're not talking the setting, we're talking the
[laughter]
This [ __ ] is on the like max setting, and it will not turn off. I'm obviously laughing my ass off, and I take it into the hall and I throw it on the wall. My poor husband's already awake, there's nothing he could do about it at this point. I'm laughing so hard, he is also like annoyed. So he gets up, he goes to try to turn it off too and failed. He even tried to snap it thinking that would make it stop. Like break the thing.
You can't break our Bigfoot dildo.
[laughter]
Don't you worry.
I feel like those things they yeah, they're hard to break.
So he took it to the garage and put it
13:00
in a bucket so that it didn't start an electrical fire if it was like something wrong with it.
Can you imagine the fire department having to come? And your dildo's on fire in like a Home Depot orange bucket.
they have been called to weirder things.
[laughter]
But he threw it in a bucket in the garage, and this thing buzzed until it could buzz no more. But yeah, I feel like it went off because a spirit knew that my alarm wasn't going to go off and knew that I would be upset if I I wake up.
vibrates in here?
That's my story of
the haunted dildo. I hope it tickles you both. Again, happy solstice and happy haunting. Amelia.
You know what it reminded me of is Hetty from the show Ghosts.
[laughter]
I was like that would so be something that she like tries to turn on.
Oh, for sure. And you're a ghost, you turn it on and then you like it so much, you keep it going and you're like well we're not turning this off because it's so fun to observe.
Yeah. It could be something that they've never seen before.
And I'm also sorry for your loss of your vibrator because it was on top meaning it was probably your favorite.
14:00
It was most recently used.
Man.
Yeah.
That is very [laughter] funny though. And also props to the ghost for still waking you up.
Exactly.
And using their resources, what's around.
And you got to wake up with laughter.
Mhm. And you had [clears throat] a witness, your husband.
Yeah, exactly. That's a good way to wake up. I think that I actually think that's better than being woken up by an alarm.
Or you can start a new line of alarm clocks that just vibrate dildos.
Yeah, the same thing you could do on your phone, a vibrating alarm.
Yeah, just but just in case you wake up feeling a certain way.
Yeah, that's a new new addition to our dildo line.
[laughter]
Oh man.

creature in a lightning storm
I have a story from a listener named Orla.
Ooh, I like that name.
16:00
Isn't it
[clears throat]
um Irish?
Probably. It sounds like a fae.
I swear there's an Orla in the show Derry Girls.
Is there?
I could be wrong.
Are you Googling?
Mhm.
I'm getting fact-checked. I rarely do.
Orla McCool.
Okay, yes.
Yes. I like I like her character. Okay. Hi ladies, my name is Orla. I'm so happy I found your podcast, but let me get into my story. It's a little bit long, so get nice and comfy. It's not that long. I've experienced things my whole life with every single house that I've lived in having some kind of activity, including mimics. And let me know if you want these stories, too.
Yes.
We do.
Mimic stories are so creepy.
In this story that I'm going to share with you, it happened while I was on a camping trip in the Sawatch mountain range. Sawatch. S A W A T C H. It was me, my two cousins, I'll call the younger one S and the older one R, my grandma, and my sister, who I will call A. So, S and R, the cousins, grandma, and then sister A.
Okay.
And also my grandma's friend was with
17:00
us. It was our last night, and in the morning we had to pack up and get home. And to give some context, this particular camp had a lake that was about 15-minute walk from our campsite. I wanted to see the lake at night, so my grandma, my two cousins, and my sister and I were all going to walk with me. Well, my grandma's friend and my grandma's dog, Aspen, were going to stay back at the campsite. Before we even left, the dog, Aspen, was super uneasy.
Just your pet.
Growling into the trees, and my cousins became hesitant to go, feeling uneasy for some reason. And they didn't just want my grandma and I to go, so they ended up coming anyway.
That's good friends, good cousins.
We thought maybe Aspen had seen some little animal, so we just kind of brushed off her reaction. After dinner, so like maybe around 8:00 p.m., I think, we began walking to the lake. It was a little stormy, and there was some thunder in the distance. Why are you still going? This is so creepy balls. This is so cool.
I feel like that's like such a good ambiance though.
Yeah. Yeah, and if you have your whole
18:00
group with you.
Yeah.
And as we walked, everyone, except my grandma, got an increasingly bad gut feeling. And some more context, my
What's wrong with grandma's gut? Does she have IBS?
[laughter]
Well, she said, for context, my grandma's very spirit really closed off. She does not believe in anything paranormal. Both of my cousins and my sister began voicing these weird feelings, but I didn't say anything. That was very much a mistake. As we continued, I felt increasingly uneasy, but I chose to ignore it because I was like, "No, I need to see the lake at night."
Which is like dueling energies, almost being like one is luring you to the lake, even though everything in your body is trying to say no.
Everything and everyone. The dog like literally Orla's the only person who's like, "We must continue to the lake."
Everyone else is like, "Turn around, turn [laughter] around."
The sky got increasingly dark. The thunder got louder. And as we were maybe about 50 ft from the lake, a huge flash of lightning struck down above the mountain and illuminated the shadow of some kind of
19:00
animal.
Oh, creepy.
My cousins were like, "What the actual hell is that?" And so I shined my light up to see it. Standing still in the middle of the road was some sort of cat-like creature who was hunched
Meow.
extremely unnaturally. Like its front arms were almost bent backwards. Its head, from what I could see, was twisted. And it had this odd pale gray-brown color. It didn't have any markings, a small body, or short tail of a bobcat. It didn't look like a mountain lion, and it had this medium-sized tail. We later found out from the camp host that only bobcats and mountain lions were around the camp.
The way it's described looks like actors in the Broadway musical Cats.
[laughter]
Kind of, yeah.
Yeah.
Totally. Just like messed up. You're like, wait. I know some animals, and this looks not enough like any of those. So S immediately freaked out, turned around, and started running. I pulled her back, and I was like, "Calm down. If it's an
20:00
actual animal, you're going to make it chase us." So instead, we just speed-walked back to the campsite. A few times my grandma made me turn the flashlight around to look to see if we were being followed, cuz she felt like we were. And we all had the overwhelming feeling of being watched.
Mhm.
So we made our way back to the campsite. The sky had cleared up, and we wanted our grandma to sleep in our tent. So we left grandma's friend alone.
Sorry [laughter] about that.
Poor grandma's friend. Also important to note, I am Native American. I carry a little pouch of corn pollen and sage around, which I sprinkled on the entrances of the tent that night. We all got settled, and my cousins and I were still very on edge. So of course, we were all just kind of listening to the sound of nighttime. Soft winds, but otherwise quiet. Then the sound of someone walking in circles around our tent. And I don't mean distant, I mean they were right there. You could hear whatever it was brushing against the side of our tent. Heavy, slow footfalls. Then the sound of growling. But I don't mean like an animal growling.
21:00
Ooh.
It was like someone's stomach was growling, and it was really loud. And none of our stomachs were growling at the time. And my grandma couldn't hear the noise. Then, the creepiest part. Murmuring. It sounded like a man was muttering, but his words were indistinguishable. It didn't sound like any language I'd ever heard in my life.
And then my grandma's dog was growling, but I basically gaslit myself into thinking that it was Aspen this whole time.
I want to do that, too.
The next morning, we're talking. We realized we all heard the exact same thing. And let me tell you, I was very happy that that was our last night there. I will for sure not be going back. Kind regards, Orla.
Well, this is another reason to not deny your gut feelings.
Mhm.
Listen to your gut at all times.
But it's hard cuz like Orla was kind of battling two things at once.
I know, but everyone else kept going. Like, tie Orla down in the tent.
Say no. We'll go see it. You don't need to see it at night. There's something creepy here. I have a bad feeling about this. Everyone feels like this is a bad
22:00
idea but you.
Well, also the haunting is very similar, like the walking around the tent and like pacing around the tent. That I feel like that's such a common paranormal experience while camping, but it sounds so familiar or so similar to the first story from Amelia. Yeah. And I'm like, were you in the same area?
What's going on?
And it was a storm, and I feel like
[snorts]
storms and the energy that's brought in can add to the paranormal. And how creepy like if feeling like you're being watched and followed is a very mountain thing, right? To be stalked.
Yes.
But they saw the creature.
And it like truly Look at this picture. I I We'll put it in the YouTube video. This is what I imagine.
Yeah.
[laughter]
Dude, I've never seen cats, but I've seen enough clips.
It's haunting. It's like a not deer.
Yeah.
But cat-like and standing. Any animal standing on its hind legs
too, with the lightning. And like that's how you see it is like lightning strikes the mountain top in front of you.
It's a horror movie.
23:00
It is.
This is why I love talking about paranormal experiences from people camping, but I don't want to go camping.
No.
Like backyard camping is as far as I'll go. And even that, I'll probably go inside at night.
scared of backyard camping.
It's safer than out in the actual wilderness.
I guess. Tent camping scares me even though I grew up doing it.
I know I I feel like I've I've become so much more of like keep me inside.
Yeah.
Princess.
my security cameras pointed at every angle.
Yeah.
If my security camera fails, guess what? I've got bird cameras around my property. I'll see you somehow.
I'll see you.
There's not a blind spot.
Okay, well, here are some more experiences that would make you want to stay inside. Although, maybe you're not safe inside either. And I'm actually
Dad or a mimic?
very excited about this because some of you out there created a Reddit forum for Two Girls One Ghost, mostly to conspire about my personal life, but over time
[laughter]
as my personal life has become less tea, people have been using it to talk about
24:00
the paranormal. And the other week, I saw someone a listener posted their paranormal experience on our Two Girls One Ghost Reddit. And I have to read it.
Ooh, I'm excited.
So, this is posted by lame_zombie.
[laughter]
And it was titled I saw my dad outside at 1:30 a.m., but he was home asleep.
That's so creepy.
Hey Reddit, first post, be nice. Context, this happened pre-COVID like 2018 or 2019 and I was around 13 or 14. I live in Western Pennsylvania. Right on the edge of the Appalachia Mountains. If you know, you know. My uncle lives about 5 minutes down the road from me and I have had some weird paranormal experiences at his house before. This one though, sticks with me. And I picked it cuz it's Appalachia. So, my mom and I were house sitting for my uncle while he was away on a work trip. No pets or anything, but his house is pretty big and kind of isolated in the woods. Woods on one a wheat field on the other. One night we were in the basement
25:00
watching a movie and the setup down there matters. The wall across from the TV is basically all windows with French doors that go out to the back patio and pool. Since my uncle wasn't home, none of the outside lights were on and it was pitch black out there. Like you could not see anything. My mom and I were sitting on this L-shaped couch with our backs to the windows and at some point I hear that very specific doink sound. Like when someone taps on glass doors. Just one knock. I sat up. I looked over the back of the couch. Nothing. Just total darkness. I figured maybe I imagined it and I went back to watching my movie. And my mom didn't react so I guess maybe I heard was hearing things. But then it happened again. This time I look back and I see my dad standing outside. Not like, oh, it's someone who kind looks like my dad. No, it was my dad. He had on his work hat and this old gray Broncos crew neck that he used to wear all the time. It was one with the little horse and the orange mane. He was
26:00
looking down at his phone and the light from the screen was lighting up his face and chest. I could only see him from about mid-torso up. And he wasn't moving. Just standing there kind of looking at his phone. I turned to my mom confused and I said something like "Dad's here." Mind you, it's 1:30 in the morning. She looks back and sees nothing. But I can still see him as clear as day.
Oh, that's so creepy.
She tells me my dad's home asleep and has work in the morning. So I look back at the TV and then I look back again and he's still there in that same position, not moving, not looking up, just standing there looking at his phone. And at this point I'm really just confused. I'm not scared because I tell her again, "He's outside and probably wants to be let in and we should let him in." I don't remember what she said, but I eventually just turn around and pretended I didn't see anything. I don't remember falling asleep, but somehow I did. The next morning, I called my dad and asked if he came over the night before, and he said, "No." But then I told him
27:00
what I saw, and he said he believed that I did in fact see something, but it most definitely was not him. I told my uncle, too, and I asked him to check his cameras, but he never found anything.
That's so creepy that like actively they have their mom there who cannot see it, but they're seeing it. Like you have all of the proof that no one else
Yes.
Ooh, it's like trying to lure you.
It is also interesting cuz I feel like when we talk about mimics,
Yeah.
they usually are trying to get you to come outside or open the door or they voice, like they are interacting with you. But for it almost is like this entity knew it didn't have their dad perfectly nailed down, so like it couldn't look him in the eyes.
It had to say just far enough away.
Like kind of like slightly looking down in a way because had it revealed its eyes, it would have revealed that it was not dad.
Or like maybe this was the test to see how much they could get away with.
Because I too, if I saw my dad like on a
28:00
knock on a window late at night, I'd be like, "Oh, he wants to come in. Like he maybe went to the front door and we didn't hear it and figured we were in the basement." But the fact that their mom did not see the dad,
That's That's really disturbing.
It's messed up.
But I am glad that your mom was there because had your mom not been there, would you have gone and opened the door?
Probably.
And we would not be reading this story.
Oh my gosh. Well, that's a good use of our Reddit thread.
Right? I was like, "How fun. No one It's not people talking about who I'm dating."
Sabrina checks all of the reviews and Reddits and all that. I
I do. People haven't gossiped about me in a long time.
That's That's great.
good. I'm boring enough now.
Did you share less, maybe, and that's why?
No, cuz there's no no drama. I'm not dating anyone. I'm single and I just sit in my home.
Floating through life.
Watch Bravo.
The drama is Bravo.
is Bravo. [laughter] Now it's me [clears throat] looking on Reddit about other people's
29:00
drama.
[laughter]
It's only okay if it's about other people.
what happened to Taylor from Southern Charm? Why isn't she on this season now?
It's all going over my head.
What about Katherine? Frank.
Who are these people?
Or Thomas. Why did I say Frank?
Maybe there should be a Frank.
There probably is a Frank. In somewhere in Charleston, there's a Frank.
Warby Parker
Do you like my new glasses?
This right here is why we're obsessed with Warby Parker. You look so good in them.
Thank you.
Warby Parker is a total game changer if you're looking for glasses, like sunglasses, reading glasses,
seeing glasses,
anything. And they have multiple locations that you can go into their like brick and mortar store, but I have been using the try-on online and it is so
is amazing.
I feel like I have a really big round face and so certain shapes in glasses look a little small on me.
But I have the opposite. My I feel like my face is really narrow and the bigger glasses swallow up my face.
Right.
So it's so nice to be able to do the try-on
The virtual try-on.
and figure out what works.
And also, nothing comes close on quality, price, selection, and customer service as you get with Warby Parker.
30:00
And they have a so many styles to choose from. Their prescription glasses start at $95. You can actually get quality stylish frames at an affordable price. They have retail stores, they have over 300 in the US if you want to pop into one. Right now, buy one pair of glasses and get 20% off any additional pairs at warbyparker.com/tgog. mimics & camping trip SW
Okay. Glad you read that because my next story is called "My parents were mimicked and my camping trip with a SW." Flesh pedestrian. Not a sex worker.
Yeah yes.
[laughter]
No, sorry.
Some people are like, "What's an SW? I don't understand what that means." It is the way that we like to call it so that we don't have to say the whole name cuz it is not It is supposed to frowned upon to speak its name. And it is said that if you say the name, they know.
Mhm.
And they might show up.
So just look up flesh pedestrian and it
31:00
will tell you what we're referencing.
Yes.
That starts with SW.
Yes.
Okay. Hello gorgeous ghostesses. I am Liv. You can use my name.
Okay.
I've been listening to your podcast for a few months and I just finished listening to a haunted Appalachia episode.
Our favorite.
It reminded me of the time that I had a potential encounter with an SW [clears throat] or whatever the Pacific Northwest version of this is because I'm not in Appalachia. But I thought, "Oh, I need to send this story to them." So I combed through my emails because I'd already sent a story to you guys only to find that apparently I had not even though I vividly remember writing and sending the story to you guys, but this is just one of the many weird things to add to the list of entities possibly messing with me.
And you're not the only person to have experienced that. Yeah, we've even had encounters where we like swear we read an email and then can't find it.
I always think of that one where I was like, "I can't find this one. I responded to it. I could tell you every detail of it." And then it hit our inbox like a year or two later and I was like,
32:00
"Did you send this before?" And they're like, "No, I've never sent this."
It's wild.
creepy cuz I read this and emailed you back
It's so weird.
years ago.
That gives me the heebie
jeebies.
Yeah, I That was That was my one glitch in the matrix, I think that I experienced.
effect.
Yeah. Okay. For starters, I've always felt and more scarily seen things. I honest to god thought for a period of time that maybe I was experiencing schizophrenia when I was in my early teens and I'm not really comfortable or in tune with my ability. My house growing up was haunted and unfortunately many people have passed away on the property even while living there.
Mhm.
And I have what I like to call a friendly neighborhood entity that has clung to me who sometimes not very friendly.
Wait, that is not a neighborhood friendly entity.
Manifesting. She's manifesting.
Trying.
Pretend like they're great and maybe they'll be great.
Gaslight yourself.
Yes. Okay, but here's the very first story that I attempted to send you and it's about mimics.
33:00
Growing up in a haunted house makes you very aware of the other side and how it interacts with our dimension. My family's always been very accepting and aware of the other side and I do think that that created a kind of safe space for spirits and entities to pass through and maybe coexist in a way.
It's like an animal shelter for ghosts.
Yeah, they they thought that they were just being nice and really they're like opening up their house.
There's like a sign on the other side that says like all ghosts welcome here.
[laughter]
I have experienced mimics in my house before in the form of seeing someone in the corner of my eye who wasn't there or clearly hearing someone talk about me, but none of the times have rattled me the way this last experience did.
Mhm.
To set the scene, my home is about 10 miles outside of city limits. So it's easy to get to but not worth going out of your way for. When you walk through the front door of my childhood home, you walk into a living room. Now on the other side of the living room straight ahead is a sliding glass door to the patio and backyard. To the left are all of the bedrooms, to the right the kitchen. The couch faces away from the front door and bedrooms angled so that
34:00
it's facing the patio and yes, this is important, I swear. So my dad who was also never around much because he was a first responder so he frequently worked four to five days on and then had two or three days off. At this time, I moved out of the house but I was living only 10 minutes away. My mom and dad had also started their divorce so my dad really was not spending time at this house at this time.
Mhm.
Everyone was gone this weekend and so I was asked to go house and pet sit and I'm thinking, "Hell yeah, free food all weekend
[laughter]
and I get to chill in an empty house with my childhood pets? Yes.
That's what you think.
Little did I know that 21-year-old me would soon be leaving on one of the nights with fearful tears in my eyes.
Yikes.
It was late afternoon when this occurred. The sun had not set yet, but it was starting to. Probably about 20 minutes until it would. I had brought my Xbox over. I was playing Minecraft in my childhood bedroom, cuddling my family dog, and then the temperature dropped. Not drastically, but it was summer, so
35:00
generally the house stayed pretty temperate. I got this strange wave of overwhelming dread. And at the same time, my dog's ears perked, and she started whining. I do not have anxiety. I do not have depression. And my dog is 120 lb and a pitbull. So, kind of really weird for both of us to feel so off. I get off the bed. I start making the rounds around the house. I'm checking the bedrooms, and my dog stayed in my room, still whining. And now I see, okay, all the bedrooms are clear. So, I make my way to the living room. And then I see it.
Ah!
The mimic. It's standing on the patio. It looks like my dad. But my dad was 55 at the time, and this thing looks exactly like my dad did when he was 30. Back turned away from me, hands on his hips like a proud man admiring his freshly mowed lawn. Now, I dealt with plenty of spirits by this time, and I was also busy with my Minecraft game building a super cool base. So, I just waved it off and said, "Okay, well, if you're going to mimic someone, do better and actually be someone who's lived here recently."
36:00
nonchalant and laissez-faire about a freaking mimic in your backyard?
So, then I go back to playing Minecraft. Not even 5 minutes later, my dog perked up again. He lets out this big guard dog-level bark. Hackles raised and everything. And at this point, I'm getting annoyed because now I have to go do another surveillance check. But this time, I go straight to the living room. There, on the couch, in my mom's usual spot, is my mom. Ooh, except my mom wasn't supposed to be home for another 2 days and she had not pulled into the driveway. So, not only had I accidentally challenged the mimic, but I invited it in.
And now it's like switching forms.
Oh, I chose. I booked it back into the room. I shut my bedroom door and I'm not religious, but I did say to whatever higher power is listening, please protect me, protect my dog, protect this house. This entity is not welcome. It needs to leave. It is not welcome here. Now and never will be in the future. The whole time this is happening, my dog stays in the room, hackles up, on alert
37:00
until I finish my protection. Then she calmed down and fell asleep. Needless to say, I did not get any sleep [clears throat] that night and I couldn't even sleep when I went back to my apartment.
Oh my god.
Now we've had plenty of stories since in that house including lights being interacted with, doors opening, objects moving, shadows in the corner of your eyes, shadow people, Ouija board experiences, physical harm, possession, shared reoccurring nightmares, and so much more from not just myself, but my sisters, my mom, my nephew. So, I can send those if you want to know.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yes. But for my next story, I'm going to share about a camping trip that I had when a windy boy or a flesh pedestrian or whatever the closest thing that could be here in the Pacific Northwest had an encounter with me.
Okay, well, first, I'm going to put a spin that's not as scary on the first story.
Okay.
And it's going to be completely contradicted by the fact that trust your pets and like clearly the dog was aggravated and like scared.
38:00
So, I don't think what I'm about to say is real, but I'm going to just put it out there to like make it less scary. Especially the example of like the dad looking 30 years younger. I'm like, is this a real moment that happened 30 years ago where dad was out on the porch like, you know, hands on hips like admiring his work and mom was inside [clears throat] on the couch watching TV. And it was just like a weird flip glitch in time.
Yeah, but then again contradicted by the fact that the dog wouldn't be like it should be familiar with
Yeah.
both of those people.
Okay, back to the camping.
Okay.
My boyfriend, now ex, had just gotten a new car and the seats in the back folded down. So obviously we made some sandwiches, we were making out oh sorry, they were not making [laughter] out.
I thought you were going to say they were not making sandwiches.
[laughter]
Cuz making out makes sense. You put all the seats down. Actually
Actually they were just making sandwiches. Making the back of the car up and driving into the woods to camp for the night.
Where they were going to go make out. [laughter]
39:00
Nice pickle onion breath or in the back seat of that new car.
[laughter]
So we went to the campsite that we'd both been going to for years. So we were very very familiar with this campsite. It's about a 1 and 1/2 hour drive from our house. There's no service and the sites are walk-in. So you basically park in the parking lot, walk however long until you're at the campsite and then it's on a first come first serve basis.
Okay.
And we have plenty of walking hiking trails and it's on a lake. So it's really nice.
Sounds peaceful.
If you're into this type of thing.
And you're ready with your sandwiches packed like great.
And you're ready to make [laughter] out.
You're ready to make out in the car if it gets too scary outside.
[laughter]
We went in late July on a Sunday night. So it was warm and typically pretty busy because it was summer. Because the sites are stretched out along the shore, there are three different parking lots that are all connected by a one car road that ends at the last lot. But we were just car camping so we weren't worried about finding a campsite unless we wanted to make a responsible fire that night.
40:00
Okay, so they were going to stay in the car. Oh they were. Cuz the seats go back. So there's to make out, eat your sandwiches and sleep. Krandall really wanted to make out.
[laughter]
It's such a trope, right? Make out in the back of of the car.
Go to the lookout point. Something scary may happen.
And all of a sudden a bloody hand hits your side of the
The first lot was completely full, the second lot also completely full. And we're starting to worry for a little bit, but by the time we got to the third and final lot, we see that it is actually completely empty except for one truck.
Oh, that's unsettling.
So, we park the car, we set up some stuff, and we're doing this when we notice that there's a deer now slowly circling the parking lot. Okay, so we don't pay too much mind to this. The parking lot's on top of a very steep hill, and there's about a 30-ft elevation from where the trails and the sites are. And after we're done with the initial setup, we decide to walk along some of the trails and walk down the hill. There's a campsite that has been
41:00
perfectly set up, like straight out of an outdoorsman magazine, with a paddleboard leaning against a table, hiking boots on the bench, the whole shebang. But there's no person attending it. It took us about an hour to circle back, and throughout this walk, we kept noticing that deer, the same one we'd seen earlier.
Uh.
And this deer is super noticeable now because of how many scars it has.
Oh, and how close it would get to us. Is that a common thing with flash pedestrians?
Yeah. The weird markings. Sometimes this thing would get as close as 5 ft to us. And we both had grown up hiking and hunting and fishing, etc. We'd never seen an animal this scarred before, let alone a friendly deer that was this beat up and now following us. But we kept choosing to ignore it. After the hike, we're walking back up the hill towards the car, and we pass the one other guy in the area coming down from his truck, and he strikes up conversation as we're walking. Now, keep in mind, he's walking down with nothing in his hands, and his
42:00
truck is parked up at the top of this super steep hill. And after striking up conversation, he turns back around and starts following us back up the hill. My boyfriend registered how strange that was, and I did not, as you will soon find out. And asks the guy, "Oh, did you forget something?" And the guy responds by saying how he forgot a bundle of firewood. The guy proceeds to start asking us how long we're going to be there for. Have we set up our camp yet? Are we familiar with the area?
Oh. Stranger danger.
else coming and joining us?
Stranger danger.
So, my dumb ass is now answering all of his questions. I think he's just being friendly. But, we also find out that he has been planning to be here for three nights, and his friends are showing up soon. At this time, the deer is nowhere to be seen. The guy leaves without grabbing any firewood. We do not see him the rest of the time.
Sucks.
And after he left, the deer appeared again in the middle of the parking lot, just watching us. Night falls, and we made our small fire next to our car,
43:00
and the guy's friends never show up. Eventually, the deer disappears.
Also, the fact that like the two other parking lots were jam-packed, and not a not a single other car comes to the third parking lot.
Right.
That's also weird energy.
So, this is when the story takes a turn. At once, the forest goes mute, and immediately my boyfriend and I are on alert. It was getting very dark, and we both gave each other the "Ooh, we definitely should not be out here any longer" look. So, we start putting the fire out, organizing our things for an easy departure in the morning, and then we hear a woman screaming bloody murder for help. The scream sounds like it's coming from very, very far away.
Shiphalls.
And as we hear this, we immediately stop organizing. We start dumping water on the fire. We want to be quick. We want to be efficient. So, we grab our essentials. We hop in the car, and as fast as possible, we lock the doors.
Thank goodness you were by your car. Like, thank goodness you chose to stay in your car rather than go set up camp in the woods.
like actually in the car. And that night, we were tormented. The
44:00
car had 360° cameras with night mode, and all night, something was rubbing against the car.
Oh.
Big enough to shake the car. We're thinking, okay, this is it has to be a mountain lion or a small bear, maybe. But, every time we turned on the cameras, we would see nothing. We felt something smaller stepping on top of the car. But again, we would see nothing. We would constantly
and drive away.
away. We would constantly hear screams, both human and animal, throughout the night. Close, sometimes far. And we would hear something large circling the car, but again, we would see nothing. We would trade off every 30 to 60 minutes on who could sleep, and then who would watch with the gun that we had. Not because one wanted to sleep, but because the other couldn't sleep and would rather be awake.
Yeah.
Anytime we fell asleep, we would have horrible dreams about deformed animals, red eyes. And at some point, my boyfriend, while on watch, had seen red
45:00
eyes looking in our direction from the tree line.
Nope.
This went on all night. I'm talking 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. We considered leaving after an hour, but we had so many things still left outside of our car, like nice camping chairs, our cooler. And we thought, okay, well, if this is an animal, it'll it will get bored eventually and start rummaging through the other campsites.
It targeted you.
But it never left us.
Nope, it wanted you.
This one occupied car in an isolated parking lot. Once the sun rose and it was light enough for us to confidently investigate, we went outside to find that many different animal tracks from elk, deer, mountain lion, all around. And human feet.
Ugh, and the camera never picked anything up.
Uh-uh.
Bare human feet, like not wearing shoes, I bet.
It said the human feet were hard to make out, but it also tracks because it kind of looked like maybe someone had a peg
46:00
leg, if that makes sense. It was like circular imprints in the rock.
a peg leg. It was a half human, half like
morphing into all these different animals to try to get you outside. All of the prints didn't seem to have a starting point or an entry point. They just would appear out of nowhere and then wander back into the woods. And none of our supplies outside had been disturbed, even our cooler.
But you had been disturbed severely and now we severely disturbed.
creepy? After trying to figure out what was going on, we still felt this overwhelming feeling of being watched. So, we packed up at 6:00 a.m. We went to McDonald's and we have not been back since. That was almost 4 years ago now and I had been going to those campsites multiple times a year since I was a kid.
What is this campsite? I want to like I want to look it up.
Right? It's in the Pacific Northwest somewhere.
Which already is very haunted, but like I want to know this specific one and look on like Reddit and different places and see what people have experienced.
Yeah. Hopefully you have a good night. Love
47:00
y'all. Live.
Thank goodness we don't record at night anymore cuz this is one of those stories that had we
that that would keep us up.
Yeah. And cuz the last time we recorded at night was when we recorded that monsters episode for Halloween
out in your backyard. We were camping out. Yeah.
And I remember driving home that night. I like felt so unsettled.
I feel like recording that was also creepy because there's so much woods behind my house and also it wasn't an easy setup. So, like once we finished recording, we were like taking turns almost being outside alone cuz we were like grabbing all the extension cords and walking things back inside and then it was creepy.
It was creepy.
I remember I called Brian and I was like, "You need to come help us."
Even just the walk from your front door to my car.
I think I watched you get in your car. I for sure
like watched until you were like in your car,
[sighs]
locked and and moving.
So, good luck to all of you who are listening at night. Okay, I have one to
camping contortionist
end the episode on and it is called Camping Contortionist from our listener Gary up in Ontario, Canada.
48:00
Wow.
I Gary also Cirque du Soleil.
This is like so professional. Gary included a word count. 677 words. I wish it was 666, Gary.
Edit eliminate.
[laughter]
Take a red pen to this.
Instead of from Gary, it's just Gary. Okay. I had always loved the idea of sleeping beneath the stars and simply living with the land just as my distant relatives, the Neanderthals, so [laughter] often done in the past.
For some reason I read that as like the Netherlands.
In the Netherlands, the Neanderthals.
Unfortunately, though, my desire to go camping was forever soured at very young age. So, fresh air, the exercise, the ability to go back to nature was always very appealing to me until crazy [ __ ] happened. Some friends and I had decided to go to a nearby nature preserve and campground so we could just pitch some tents, enjoy a couple of evenings together, gather around a campfire, and just sit and talk about our lives and where we were with everything. Sounded like a great idea,
49:00
right? Up until that point, I'd probably gone camping like five or six times. But what happened to me that night completely changed my opinion about any willingness to go camping in the woods at night under the cover of darkness ever again. Case in point, this latest camping trip that I'd gone on with my friends completely reprogrammed my brain. We had a great day of hiking, fishing, swimming, and we were really looking forward to spending another one of our classic nights around the campfire. We had the fire lit and all the lawn chairs were set up around it and the festivities began. Cold beer, warm friendships, and the really fun part were the cool stories we told around the fire.
Oh, this sounds so nice.
Along with drinking several beers comes the voiding of these fluids in the woods.
Mhm.
We started this episode with not wanting to pee in the woods and we're going to end it with peeing in the woods. No shiny bathroom, no stinky outhouse, just a silent, au naturel, open-air showering upon the forest floor. It was during one of these draining expeditions when my world got turned upside down. I
50:00
was about halfway done when I heard the rustling of leaves just outside of my flashlight's glow and I saw movement in my peripheral vision. So, I figured it might be a deer or something and I raised my flashlight towards it. That's when I had my actual what the [ __ ] moment. Standing there in the beam of my flashlight was this freaky-looking creature that I did not recognize. It had glistening, rubbery-looking brown skin like you'd see on a frog but it appeared human-like, standing there on its hind legs, roughly 5 ft tall. And its beady eyes were like black orbs both the size of tennis balls. And when they blinked, they appeared to retract straight down into the deep, wrinkly folds located at the top of its head.
That is so gross.
alien-like.
Yeah.
Suddenly, it bolted and I watched as it flung itself wildly from tree trunk to tree trunk, very Edward Cullen in Twilight.
What?
And it left a slimy, stringy residue on
51:00
everything it touched, like a frog.
What is this?
It almost looked like an oozing, dripping liquid honey. Finally, it momentarily rested near the base of a large oak tree and it carefully twisted and contorted its entire body, then slowly squeezed itself into a seemingly tiny little knot hole, much like an octopus slithering away into a small crevice in a coral bed.
I mean, it kind of sounds like it was scared of you, so I guess that's that's like a good thing.
One good thing, yeah.
Yeah, it's
It's trying to get a like a little wood piece.
It's camping with its friends at another site.
And if that wasn't freaky enough, as I stood there in the forest trembling in the dead silence and stillness of that creepy night, I could clearly hear the disturbing sound of what sounded like bones crunching and cracking and muscles and ligaments tearing as it methodically folded itself into itself before pushing up against the knot hole, sucking itself deep into the heart of the tree and
52:00
disappearing.
What the [ __ ] is I've never heard anything like that.
Right? And the very last thing
spirits, this is not what I was thinking.
The last thing I remember before it disappeared altogether was it seemingly winked at me. And then in a very bizarre and surrealistic way waved its 12-in gangly, spindly fingers up and down at me like some kind of agitated jellyfish as if to say goodbye.
From Gary.
Kind of a little bit Lorax-like.
It's like like you're saying I've never
heard of anything like this. It's like a combination of so many things we have heard about. Like the knot deer is in the way that their bones crunch and stuff when they're contorting.
Yeah.
And then but it's frog-like and alien-like.
slime.
And octopus-like.
And wrinkly.
And it seems like it wants to get away from you but then it's also weaving.
Looks like it's doing some sort of spell to make you go away or not be able to like access its home.
Ah. It's so creepy.
53:00
It's so creepy. Wait, where do we know where this is?
Somewhere in Canada.
Well dang, Gary. Gary said sometimes it's best to just stay in your tent or sit near the fire. Or Gary, sometimes it's best to just not go camping. Or have a pee buddy.
A pee buddy. You're my pee buddy.
waste to the world but like I feel like in this scenario I'd be I'd be too scared to go pee alone. And I know like fighter pilots and stuff they have those It's like a plastic bag that you pee in and then there's gel at the bottom and the gel expands like absorb all of your pee

not know about this this about fighter pilots. Didn't know you knew much about fighter pilots. [laughter]
I know a couple of random facts about how they release their

Chronically on TikTok. Yeah, I did learn that on TikTok.
I knew it. Most weird fact about you?
of this guy who was like sitting in his jet. He was like, "Do you want to know how we pee on really long flights?"
I do.
I kept watching. I did want to know.
Wow. Yeah, that's I don't know what that is. I don't know
54:00
about a lot of this episode. It's quite scary and again, more reason to stay home.
Even camping in your car isn't safe.
This would be a perfect episode to be sponsored by Helix mattresses. I hope it is because that's what I would like to be on.
Right. Just curl up on your safe little mattress. You could [laughter] nice and cozy.
cute Like my idea of like a fun night with friends is like buying everyone matching pajamas, great bottle of wine, sitting in a living room where you've like turned the couch into like a massive bed. You have like the air mattresses like piled up next to each other. Everyone can like cuddle up on it and we're watching like a girly movie.
Right. Yeah, I honestly think I'd even be scared sleeping in my son's room just with like all of his toys. [laughter]
Yeah.
I need to be inside.
Yeah. It's a type Give me a jail cell over a a camping tent.
Oh, I don't know. I'm kind of pretty scared of that.
Wait, uh I Did I send this to you? In Boston, there's this beautiful home that Tom Brady used to live in.
Oh, over in Commonwealth?
55:00
And the penthouse was just listed for like $7 million or something like that. The outside of this building is the most stunning, like historic, intricate detailed
stone masonry.
Yeah. The inside it should be illegal of what they did.
What? I didn't see that.
It looks The bathroom, literally the toilet is metal. I'm like, "This looks like a jail cell."
Ew. He hasn't lived there for a really long time, so I wonder if he did it or if the previous or like the most recent owners did it.
Well, then it's also the penthouse, so I don't know if he lived in that one. I think cuz there's like multiple units.
I don't think he's been there for like here a decade.
I will put it in the show notes for people. No, yeah, he hasn't lived there for a while.
Yeah.
Um, [snorts] but I'll show it to you. Let's see.
It was on Zillow Gone Wild?
Literally, a metal toilet.
Ew.
And it's just so modern and gross.
How could they do this?
Stainless steel, like it's just
And that's how That's the outside. Devastating.
Devastating.
Well, if it makes you feel better, most of the other listings for properties

right there do look old and New England and historic and to the point where sometimes you're like, man, you could have afforded to update something. New carpet, maybe?
Yeah, that's true.
But that's criminal.
bad.
I don't ever comment on things. Like I'm a lurker, but I commented on that and said like this is devastating, bring back the character. Also, the other day I was scrolling TikTok and I saw you had commented. I was like, "Corinna commenter?"
Oh, sometimes I do. Every once in a while.
Once in a blue moon. What did I comment on?
I can't remember, but I I was just like
Was it on Tik It was on TikTok?
I feel like I usually comment on the parenting stuff where they're like, "What's this uh
think it was a parenting one.
Or if it's related to Vermont.
related to Vermont.
Then what did I say?
I don't know, but my fibers were gasted.
Now I'm self-conscious cuz I'm like, if it doesn't have to do with New England
It wasn't weird enough that I like screenshotted it and was like, "Ayo, Corinna has a hot take." I think it was just like commentary. Like in in agreement of what they had said or something like that.
Props to all of you who comment because

I don't have the guts. How do I find what my comments were?
I don't know.
Oh, comment history. Here we go.
Oh.
There's a song from the Beach Boys. I said it's giving 2008 Hollister.
No, it wasn't that. Anyway, that's for us to figure out later.
Was it Pizza Hut when I was like, "Do you remember dessert pizza?" Nobody ever knows what I'm talking about. It was some sort of like strawberry glaze drizzled over. It was so incredible.
Okay, now I want to look at your comment [laughter] history.
Did anyone respond to that one?
I don't know.
No.
[laughter]

[laughter]
It's like what I said about my butt hole. He was supposed to say what's your weird pregnancy sentence no one talks about. I said the sudden feeling of my butt hole being stabbed out of nowhere.
Okay, that's better like in context. Yeah.
I commented about the psoriasis I had in my armpits on someone's video. [laughter]
