Sports are in the air.
Sports are happening all around us. Can you feel it? Can you see it? Can you hear it?
Do you hear those Mr. Krabs?
Do you hear those sneakers on the basketball court? Do you hear those baseballs being whacked across the field?
Yay, go team.
Go team. Go fingers.
Go sports. Go sports.
Um but yeah, we have not done an episode about not encounters about sports related hauntings.
No, we had one episode a couple years ago about specifically baseball curses.
And I did one about
interesting.
The There was like a basketball team that
Oh, yes. They didn't ever say that hotel. But it was specifically about the
2:00
hotel. But anyway, we were like, "Hey,
Hotel? Why does that ring a bell?
No, it's not it. I don't remember the name, but it's not that. All I know is you're wrong. But a lot of you have had encounters not necessarily while playing sports, but while doing like sports-related things or their superstitions that you've heard and that your family follow. And so we wanted to pick stories related to that. And then we also asked all of our listeners who follow us on Instagram to share with us some of your strange sports-related habits or superstitions. And I just have to say the amount of men who choose to wear the exact same underwear. They wash them.
Oh.
But that they have to wear the same underwear for every game that they watch and play. It's a weird like why underwear?
That is interesting because depending on what sport they play, sometimes they're like back to back games. Where do you have the time to wash?
Good question.

Good question. I don't know. I don't have the answer. I didn't
He didn't want to start a conversation about men's underwear with a man.
I did not.
did not. So tell me more about your underwear habits. And then there was one listener who sent an email and it was This was just like one sentence of their email where it was like, "My grandmother was a little bit of a witch and she used to make us voodoo dolls for the other team."
Oh my gosh.
And I was like, "I love that so much. I wish this was a longer story."
That is like some really serious sports [ __ ] where I feel like if the people found out from the other team
Did it work? That's the question we have.
And what kind of voodoo stuff was happening? Like what What were you guys doing to the dolls?
How did it affect the other team?
Are they just tripping over themselves or are they like getting in a car accident?
That's what we need to know. Just as a note, there's probably some background noise.
There's cleaning happening.
locker room encounter
Okay. I picked a story that's not necessarily like it's sports related because it's a gym
4:00
and a locker room. This is from our listener John. It's called gym encounter. Hi Karen and Sabrina. My name is John.
I love your podcast.
his name was Jim and and it was called Jim encounter.
Jim Jim experiences a haunting at the gym.
Jim encounter.
I love your podcast. I listen to it sporadically, mostly when I have to travel for work about 4 to 6 months at a time. Oh, what kind of work do you do? I wanted to get your take on something creepy that occurred not too long ago at my gym. I'm a member of a larger gym in the Madison, Wisconsin area and I've been a member at this gym for over 15 years. Recently, maybe around March of this year, I've been getting up really early and going to the gym for a 5:00 a.m. swim.
Bam.
I get to the gym 10 minutes before 5:00. I check in, I get in the locker room, I change into my swimwear, rinse off in the showers, get into the pool and swim half a mile. It usually takes about 20 minutes for me to swim this half mile. I do wall push-ups and treading water sets and when I'm done, I go sit in the hot tub for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then I
5:00
shower again, change into my work attire and head to work by around 6:00, maybe a little bit after. There is usually literally practically no one at the gym when I get there before 5:00. I have the locker room, the sauna, the shower, the pool and hot tub to myself. Occasionally, yeah, there are a few younger dude weightlifters in the locker room, but really only ever two max. And they mostly don't show up until I'm done with my routine, so it's around 6:00 a.m. And by younger, I mean younger than me, I'm 40. Yikes.
That's not old.
No, we're all young.
Anyway, this particular morning about 3 weeks ago, I was in the locker room finishing my workout. I did as usual, got there before 5:00, did my pre-workout stuff, got into the pool at 5:00, did my workout, got into the hot tub for 15 minutes, got in the shower and then I was in the locker room drying off. It was around 5:45. Two younger weightlifting dudes are in the locker room changing and laughing, flexing their muscles in the mirror, you know, doing that whole song and dance, because if you flex your muscles, they grow bigger. Duh.
6:00
Then this older gentleman, probably mid to late 60s, comes into the locker room. And I had never seen him before, which is not unusual. It's a big gym, lots of new members, that, you know, common. He walks into the back locker room area where I'm drying off, changing into my work attire. He walks past the two young weightlifting dudes, past me, and then just stands in the corner by the television and by the emergency exit. He has no gym bag. He's wearing super tight and super short shorts that weren't necessarily gym shorts, but they weren't street shorts, either. He was in a faded yellow shirt with a smiley face on it. You know, one of those like [ __ ] happens shirts or whatever. He had short, brown, and gray-flecked hair. His arms were really long and gangly, like almost too long for his torso. I didn't really see any body hair on his body, like no nothing on his legs or arms. And he's just standing in the corner, not staring at the TV, staring at us three as we're doing the things in the locker room. I'm changing into work attire. Those
7:00
other two gym dudes are, who knows, flexing their muscles still. But this guy is staring at us. I can't see him directly in my line of sight, but I see him out of my peripheral. His arms are down by his side. He's standing in the corner, not really near the lockers, but close to the emergency exit door. And he's definitely staring at us. The two younger weightlifting dudes must have got that same creeped out vibe, because I pretty much ran out of the locker room half dressed, definitely feeling weirded out. So now, it's just me and this guy. I quickly get my work clothes on, even though I'm still wet from the shower. I just feel this like need to go quicker. I'm in the process of tying up my boots when I feel his presence inch closer to me. I tie my boots faster. I stuff my wet towel and my swimsuit into my gym bag and I stand up. I look over at him and he puts his hands on his hips and says, "Looks like it's just you and me, huh?" Uh, that's a little creepy. A million thoughts race through my brain. Is he going to like expose himself to me? Is he going to stab me? Possibly. Is he
8:00
going to pull out a taser and try to knock me out? What is happening? Side note, I should preface this by saying I'm a former correctional officer and former correctional supervisor. I'm now and I work in an institution in Wisconsin. But anytime I run into people that act weird around me, I do presume it may be a former inmate. Oh, that's a good point. Yeah. So, in this moment Easier for them to recognize you than you recognize them. Yeah. So, I don't know what this guy is going to do, but I do know that whatever it is, I don't want any part of it and I have a very weird feeling. As reference, I'm 5'10", 230 lb, so I'm not a little person, but this guy makes me feel uncomfortable and he's about close to my height, but he's nowhere near my weight. He looked like he's 150 lb or something. Very sinewy, long, gangly. It really looked like his body was almost cobbled together. Like his arms were long and slender, but very little muscle on them. His torso was short. His legs were normal length for his height, but they were skinny, scrawny. And he really seemed out of sorts coupled with his attire. He didn't fit the type of person
9:00
usually in this locker room or gym. The whole thing was odd and awkward. "Now it's just you," I say as I grab my bags and head for the exit. I stroll down the short hallway past the sauna, block of showers, around the corner and into the bathroom area where there's a stall and toilet, two urinals, and a couple of sinks. Which is also where the door to the hot tub is. I travel down another short hallway and around the corner to another locker room and then I head out the door of the locker rooms and into the hallway toward the pool and gym lobby. I'm in the hallway right outside the locker room door. This entire journey takes like 20 seconds. But I realize I don't have my phone. [ __ ] I must have left it in the locker room. Double [ __ ] For a brief moment, I really wondered, "Do I need it?" But I did. I decided I needed to turn back and I had to travel through all of these rooms again and I was expecting to see that creepy guy doing some naked jumping jacks or something. I don't know. I just expected something strange and I was not looking forward to another encounter. Except I walk in and the room's empty. Not a soul. What
10:00
in the [ __ ] I walked back to the locker I used to retrieve my phone. I walked back out the way I came, past the sauna, showers, first men's bathroom area, past the second locker area, to the lobby and into the parking lot. He was nowhere. Now, sure, he could have gone out the emergency exit because he sure as hell did not go past me. There's no other way out of the locker room except the way I went. Did he duck into the sauna? I don't know, but I didn't see him when I passed the window. He could have ducked into a shower, but none of the curtains were pulled, no water was running, none of the stalls were closed. Maybe he was in the hot tub? I don't know. Or maybe he just disappeared. Today I was listening to your Hell Hounds podcast and remembered you guys talked about the Tokoloshe Tokolu Tokoloshe Is that how you say
Tokoloshe. Tokoloshe. And I began wondering if the creepy dude I encountered in the men's locker room was that or like a flesh pedestrian or a spirit entity that was out of place looking for something. I don't know. All I know is that it was really unsettling and creepy and I'm glad that I didn't have to stick around longer to interact with him again. I would love to
11:00
hear your thoughts. Let me know. Great job on the show. Can't wait to listen to you guys soon. Keep up the good work. John.
I don't know what my thoughts are. I feel like this is just creepy.
It's also like so early. I Yeah, I don't know. Is it a What Whatever it is, if it's a real human being who was being creepy or a spirit, it's unsettling.
Yeah. Just the fact that he this person looked so out of place, too. Like it's one thing Like people have all different body types.
Totally.
Whatever. But like just like everything about this person, like behavior, the way that they're dressed for the gym.
And their energy. Like it Everyone Granted, there weren't that many people there, but everyone felt weird by his presence.
Yeah.
And the fact that he walked in specifically to that corner to stand and then turned around and stared at everyone.
Was he on something maybe?
It's scary behavior.
Yeah, either he was experiencing some side effects of some drugs or this is like a paranormal encounter.
Or just someone who likes to stare at people in the locker room.
Or someone who's possessed.
That's the natural conclusion. It was a possession.
12:00
I'm glad you got out of there.
Me too.

my kids are haunted
Okay, I have a story from Rose. It's called My Three Kids Are Haunted. Hello ladies, love your podcast. Just started binge listening thanks to my oldest daughter who shares with me a love of the paranormal, true crime, and drag queens. I love it.
I feel like those three things go together.
Oh, 100%.
Like that's like a normal like interest group.
Yeah. So, I have never experienced any of the creepy things that my kids have, and I'm kind of disappointed {slash} jealous.
Although it sounds like you have creepy kids, which is creepy in itself.
You get the stories still.
Yeah.
So, my first kid. When we bought our first house, we all knew that this was an 80-year-old solidly built house, and the wife of the old couple who lived here had died. There were some odd dark stains in the wooden baseboards of the kitchen. I would clean them, and they were thick,
14:00
like old barbecue sauce. And they would always reappear after I got them out.
Also, saying barbecue sauce and like just my brain goes to was it blood?
Well, it's right. Like it seems like
Yeah.
like it could be. Or like I'm not even thinking of like them dying there. Like what if they were like butchering something right there?
Things you do in your kitchen.
Yep. Don't trust every What's that little
little jingle? We don't eat at everybody's house. It's like something about
I saw the most disturbing thing on TikTok. Oh my god.
Do I want to know?
Well, you don't stay in hotels often, so you'll be I think you'll be okay, but it will make you question It will It will make you never want to use a hotel coffee maker ever again.
Ew. Well, I don't I never cuz who cleans them? No one.
Well, a woman on TikTok created a video, and and the reason I saw it was because someone was like, "This is insane." Like it was like a commentary commentary on the video. The original video was a woman being like, "Have you ever been on a trip and you run out of your underwear and you don't
15:00
have any way to clean them?" And she proceeds to show that she puts her underwear in the where you would put a like a Keurig cup in the coffee brewing machine and lets the hot water run through her underwear, her dirty underwear.
Why the [ __ ] wouldn't she just have it in a cup, and then the hot water goes in the cup, and then she can swish it out? Or why the
you just wash it in the [ __ ] sink like a Yeah, turn You get on in the sink. Isn't that disgusting? That is so disgusting. Who was that It was it Tom Segura, the comedian that like made a joke in one of his stand-ups about like rubbing his balls on the curtains in the hotel rooms or something? Just Yeah, keep your hands to yourself.
So gross.
Lie there in the hotel, wake up and leave.
Yeah, when you really think about what else has happened in places that are not your own.
Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Yuck, yuck, yuck. Okay, in the basement there was a huge storage closet that had a large butcher block table on it and it had the same stains.
Okay, butcher block, that makes sense.
16:00
Something's getting butchered. The closet was always extremely cold, way colder than the rest of the basement even in the summer. You're going to give me the creeps. Okay, here it comes. At the entrance of the closet was a full-size mirror on the wall. My oldest daughter would always see a bloody old lady wearing pajamas in the mirror whenever she was alone in the basement.
Bloody pajamas in the mirror.
Mhm. None of my kids ever wanted to go down there without my husband or me. We did some investigating and it turns out that the old lady was murdered in the kitchen.
In the kitchen.
I couldn't find more details, but I'm guessing she was probably just chopped up on that butcher block table in the basement closet. So, we moved. We got a brand new house. We built it in another state. We had it blessed. And now in the new house, kid number one would always see a shadow man at the bottom of the stairs looking up, so she would always run up from the bathroom to the top of the stairs straight into her room at the end of the hall, never go
17:00
pee in the middle of the night.
I'm Like, I'm still I can't speak. I'm still so disturbed by the revelation and like that absolutely was the continuous like blood stain seeping through.
So, like residual haunting.
Her putting back the memory of being killed, the evidence of her death.
Oh my god.
All right, so my second kid would see the shadow man at her bedroom door watching her sleep. When she was too scared to sleep in her room, she would sometimes sleep with my son, which is my third child, but the shadow man would still watch her, but closer. Now from the foot of the bed. My third kid, I had painted a baseball game mural in my son's room, and from age three he started covering the faces of the people in the mural with his notebook paper. When I asked him about it, he said that the baseball players would come out of the wall to watch him sleep.
Oh my god.
So of course I painted over it.
Wait, this is like wild because she
18:00
literally created she painted the first mural.
She made it.
Meaning she birthed a haunting from just like artistic expression.
I guess so. So of course I painted over the mural. It worked and he didn't see anything else. Until when he was a young teen and he saw a large shadow creature with red eyes and horns at his bedroom door and experienced a moment of sleep paralysis where he could not move or scream when this happened. All of my kids are grown up now and haven't experienced anything lately. My husband and I never saw any of these things and I feel that blessing our house kept some of these beings from truly harming my children. We still live in the home and I listen to your podcast at night. So I hope I'm not jinxing myself. Love you ladies, keep up the good work. From Rose.
Rose, I know that you personally have not experienced anything, but why would you want to experience any of the things that your children have experienced?
And also Rose with cleaning up the sauce, so like sorry, the blood.
You're cleaning up blood that keeps
19:00
reappearing.
That is paranormal.
Yeah. You created a haunted mural.
That is paranormal.
Well, I'm very curious about the mural. Like Rose, did you model the players in the mural after real people? Or did you
Well, how would she even know? Maybe it was just channeled through her.
Right, we need to know your process.
Like what if she was
created spirits or conjured them through the art.
drawing all of the spirits like of the land cuz they built the house.
Yeah.
My parents built their house too, so it means nothing.
Damn. Wow. That is wild.
Wild.
Oh my goodness. Okay, I have one that is
la lechuza in the stadium
I don't even know how to say it explain it. I'm just really excited. It's a it's about uh sports and La Llorona Chusa.
Wow, what a combo.
Okay. So this is from our listener Mel who had emailed us back in 2019 and it like at the end of the email was like back in 1964 to 1974 across the street stood Old Mission Stadium baseball field and my uncles used to sneak in at night until
20:00
they were chased home by La Llorona Chusa. I'll save that for another day.
What?
And so I immediately was like, wait, can you please send this email for this episode?
is everyone's lesson when you're like, oh I have so many more stories to share. Let me know if you want to hear them. We do.
We do.
And often times when we're like searching keywords and looking for stuff, there are so many emails that are like that sentence where it's like, oh well that's a story for another day. And then it's like, well it would have been a perfect story for us to read for this episode, but now we don't have it. But Mel came in clutch and responded immediately.
Great.
Which I also love cuz that means Mel is still listening even though they started back in 2019.
Or maybe Mel wasn't, but we've just recaptured a new a new old listener.
Hey Mel, welcome back to our lives. Um okay, so Mel said, hey girls, a lot has happened since 2019. This really felt like a fever dream. I remember telling my girlfriend Emma that I've sent you something. So it was exciting getting an email from you. Here's backstory. Growing up on the south side of downtown San Antonio, our minor league baseball team called the Missions had its stadium
21:00
in this area. During that time my mom and tios were growing up. The stadium was one of the few things near them. So, my uncles were naseos, which we just looked it up. We Google translated, it means fools, foolish uncles. So, they were foolish uncles. They were always getting into things or places that they shouldn't be. Per usual, my mom said they all snuck into the stadium and were playing some baseball. Like, this is a minor league baseball team stadium, which is wild. And
To just like have it unguarded?
It was way past midnight.
And they were playing baseball. My grammy always said, "Nothing good comes after midnight." But, there they were. Playing around in the field, just having fun. When all of a sudden, they started to hear noises. Like any other mischievous bunch, they chalked it up to just noise around the stadium. They continued playing and messing around on the field. When next thing you know, my tio Johnny starts screaming that something is flying around. My other tios, Javier and Bobby, do not believe Johnny.
22:00
And my mom thinks Johnny's just trying to get them to go home because he's scared. So, they keep playing, ignoring Johnny. But, later on, they all heard a loud bang. Everyone stayed still, quiet, in case something else was sneaking into the stadium. Her brothers were ready to protect her. That is when they saw something. They thought it was another human, or other humans. But, quickly, they all started screaming. My mom swears they all saw this big bird chase them, come at them. It truly chased them until it was no longer in their sight. They all believe it was La Lechuza. That morning, they all went home to tell my grammy what would happen. And instead of really believing them or talking about the entity that they saw, my Mexican grammy said, in Spanish, but the English translation, "That's what you get for not listening to me in the first place."
Was it Was it your grandma?
Love you forever, Mel.
That's what makes me think, like, could she transform or she into some witchcraft?
She's like, "I'm going to go get some water and warn them."
23:00
Or like had a little friend, you know? Just call out to the woods.
That is scary. Also, it makes me think that the lesson that whatever the entity was was like watching them for a while.
Mhm.
Especially cuz Johnny first saw something flying around and no one believed him.
Right.
It gave them a fair warning. Just no one listened to Johnny.
Yeah, it also brings me back to what you were saying in the beginning where you saw someone say that like they had the voodoo dolls or whatever.
Mhm.
And it makes me wonder like are certain stadiums or teams, like do they do work in using the paranormal to protect themselves, you know?
there is probably a couple of people who do. I just I don't know how common place it is.
witch?
If not, then maybe you should consider it.
That's an idea. These would be places that I feel like would would and should be very haunted. Think about how many people Like I think about this all the time.
much I'm not a big sports person, but when I watch the Super Bowl, I cry for
24:00
both teams because I'm like there are some of these players who have dreamt their entire lives for this one moment. Like it's such a big thing and to either win or lose is like like losing is so devastating and heartbreaking and winning is also so exciting, but like how much energy is left on the field? Plus all the fans
Things feel out of body. And then yeah, from a fan perspective, people can feel people can be fighting, people can be having emergencies in the stands, like medical emergencies. Getting drunk, getting proposed to, their favorite team the first time ever getting to see them play in a championship, winning. Like there's just an array of feelings.
We should do a paranormal investigation of TD Garden in Boston.
Oh my god. Well, I used to live right above it.
I know. I think I absorbed some of the hauntings up there.
Probably. I actually was just talking to one of our listeners, Elizabeth, who was also a heated rivalry fan. And I was like, thank god I don't live in my old apartment anymore because when I lived there it was above TD Garden
25:00
which is a where the Bruins play which is where Ilya Rozena off from Heated Rivalry played. I was
Although what do they call them like the Ravens or something like that?
Oh god I
It's not It's not the Ravens.
Yeah, I don't remember what it was. But I was like my delusions would have been so much worse. I would have like non-stop been able I wouldn't be able to move on cuz I'd just be walking around my apartment and just seeing the Ilya.
Yeah.
See the rink.
baseball field EVP
Okay, I have a story from our listener Delhi. Hello pretty ghouls. I have changed the name in this story or the names, sorry. My aunt's mother-in-law, Grandma Bell, had a brother to whom she was incredibly close to. We are going to call him Tim.
Okay.
No, sorry. She wrote Tom. It doesn't matter all the names are changed. I can change it too.
What if his real name is Tim?
Okay, we'll call him Tom. When they were younger, Tom fell in love with this girl named Kate. However, he was called to duty to serve and he wasn't able to ever tell Kate how he felt.
Oh.
Tom had always tried to write letters to her to say how strongly his feelings were for her and he had her address but
26:00
he could never work up the courage to actually send these letters to her. Tom's dying wish was that his sister, Grandma Bell, would find Kate's address in his house and inform her of his passing.
That's so devastating.
Grandma Bell went through his entire house searching for this address to no avail. A few days after Tom's death, my aunt was at her son's baseball game and she filmed the video from her car because it was raining and her husband wasn't able to go watch their son play, my cousin. She was alone in her car. The car was off. No one was near her and I am going to attach a snippet of the video where you can clearly hear someone audibly say, "It's in the desk." The voice sounds so close to the microphone but my aunt didn't hear it when she was there. Only when she was re-watching the video.
Oh.
We had my other cousin amplify the sound to find out what was actually said and it does sound like it was saying, "It's in the desk."
were the letters were?
She told Grandma Belle about what she'd
27:00
heard. And although Grandma Belle had extensively searched the house already, she went went to the only desk in the house and there was Kate's address.
Oh, the address.
See you on the other side, Tilly. Okay, I'm going to play the video. It's so wild cuz it like it just I would have assumed it was aunt saying it, like whispering something or like talking to herself out loud cuz it sounds It doesn't sound like a normal EVP. It like truly sounds like someone's right there on the microphone. I'm going to include the video if you're watching on YouTube, but you don't need to watch the video at all. It's really just audio and all the kids are blurred out from the baseball game.
It's a male's voice. It's so clear.
Yeah.
It's him.
It's on the desk.
Wait, that's really Oh, that's so it's like heartbreaking and tragic, but also I'm so glad that his final wish was able to
happen.
Oh.
FUM
Are you trying to quit vaping and
28:00
smoking? Well, there's a product for you. It is called Füm and it's a flavored air device designed to help people quit smoking and vaping by breaking that hand-to-mouth pattern. It's simple, it's natural, and honestly it's kind of genius. Like I really love the idea of it.

Dad is watching from the other side
I have one that is a little bit sad as well. It does have to do with loss. It is from our listener Kevin and it is called Dad is always watching even in death. Hello my favorite ghost enthusiast Queen Leia. My name is Kevin. I'm a new fan of the podcast. Thank you for sharing everything spooky and giving me good background noise while I game and my wife does arts and crafts. Clearly, as you saw from the subject line, I have a story about my dad that maybe involves reincarnation. To start off, growing up, my dad was my hero. We lived a very simple life growing up in a small town in I'm not going to know how to say this, Massachusetts, Winchendon. I think it's Winchendon. You never know with Massachusetts towns. I could be wrong. But my dad and I had a very special bond through our shared name and all of our
30:00
shared interests. That bond lasted until the day he passed. In 2017, I met my now wife and I decided I was going to change my path of being a townie and make the move to St. Cloud, Minnesota. A move my dad was so excited for. Okay, so dad was still alive. We talked almost every day on the phone or through Facebook and he even was able to go to my wedding. In 2021, I got a call from my sister that my dad was in the hospital for a swollen foot that was so bad he couldn't get his shoe off. Mhm. He apparently had an artery problem that was really bad and he had never taken care of it because he didn't think anyone would be able to take care of our mom. The doctors decided they were going to amputate two toes and do artery surgery, but sadly there was a complication where there was a cut that happened in his lower intestines that caused a really bad infection and sadly he passed a week later.
Oh my god.
But we were all able to be by his side.
I have like chills. It's so devastating when it like when it's just so quick, it's so sudden.
Yeah. Now because I'm autistic, I do
31:00
deal with life differently and for me sports is that outlet. Specifically hockey. I coach it, I watch it, I play hours of video games about hockey. It is my lifeblood really. Well, we went to go to my niece and nephew's ball hockey game to try to heal somehow with the game that I love most. And the entire time there was a monarch butterfly just following my niece and nephew. There were no other players out there that this monarch went to, just my niece and nephew. I had no idea about the lore behind it until my wife told me. Then the butterfly even came over to us for a little bit and then left.
Aw, monarchs are so beautiful.
A few months later I went to a Minnesota Vikings game, football, and it was an important
Go though.
Yeah, yes. It was an important event because we had on-field suite passes. And growing up my brother DJ and I had always told my dad that one day we're going to be on an NFL field. And in a way I was finally achieving that dream. I preface this by saying my dad and I had the same style, pretty much always wearing something Boston sports. He wore all Patriots stuff, I
32:00
wore Patriots gear and Bruins gear and I had a favorite Patriots hat that I had lost and I couldn't find it anywhere, so I gave up. As we were sitting in the car, we got to the Viking stadium for the game. My mother-in-law tossed the hat up to me. I found that and figured you'd want it. She had no idea how important it was to me or how long I had searched for that hat.
Aw.
It made me realize and make me think that my dad got to be with me and be on the field with me doing what I told him I would do growing up, being on an NFL field. It's been 3 years since he's passed on and I have my good days, but I also have my bad days. But I do know no matter what he's around. Whether it be when Hall & Oates or REO Speedwagon plays on the radio, it smells like a fresh open beer. It feels like he's always with me, always watching over me. Thanks so much for reading this story. Thank you for allowing me to share it. Love you both. From Kevin.
I love that so much.
I know. And it just feel I'm glad that Kevin is like recognizing
33:00
something that very much could be a sign in paranormal that I feel like so many people write off which is like intervention. Whether his mom or Was it his mom or aunt that found the house?
His aunt found the hat. Yeah.
Found the hat. You know, like his aunt might just be like, "Oh, I found I saw this. I need to like give the hat back." But there very well could have been some spirit intervention where his dad is like directing to find the hat.
she find it? Yeah.
Right. Something that could so easily be written off.
Right.
But I very much feel like it's a sign and I'm really glad that he is choosing
Me, too.
to recognize it as a sign as well.
Oh, and the monarch butterfly following me around the neighborhood of you playing ball hockey. And then also for it to then go over to them.
Mhm.
Ugh, so beautiful.
Beautiful.
So sweet. Okay.
someone call Ghost Busters
I have a story called Someone Called Ghostbusters, Pretty Sure We Have a Ghost. Hey ladies, for a little over a year now I've joked on and off that we may have a ghost in our house. Of course my family thinks that I'm crazy because I'm the
34:00
only one who truly believes stuff like that. But sometimes weird things happen like things being misplaced when I know exactly where I put them and feeling like I'm being watched. I've even been lying in bed and felt like someone sitting down next to me, but when I look no one is there.
That's unsettling.
This past year I have really noticed much more activity. My room is in the basement and earlier in the year for about 2 months we had issues with our TV turning on by itself. Every day I would come home from work, it would be on even on days that I knew no one had been home, no one was watching the TV. And it got so bad, like turning on multiple times a day, that I would really do triple checks to make sure everything was turned off. Until finally I got so fed up, I just decided to unplug it every night.
The ghost just wanted to watch TV. What are they watching? I wonder if it's on.
Is it the same channel that you leave it on? Or is it Yeah.
SpongeBob reruns?
Eventually that stopped and it hasn't happened since. And for a while nothing really was happening until one day when I was home alone. This was probably a few months after the
35:00
TV problems had stopped. My family had all left the house for the day, leaving me home by myself. I was woken up to my dog freaking out inside of his crate, which happened to be in the guest room above my head. At the time he was still a puppy and my mom had put him there so that he wouldn't destroy anything while I was asleep. He was never really a fan of his crate and luckily he's a good boy now and he doesn't need his crate. But he never freaked out this bad. The only way to describe it was he sounded like he was trying to get out and go after someone.
Trust your pets.
Knowing that I was home alone after reading a text from my mom, I started to freak out a little bit. I started to climb the stairs to go get my pup only to stop dead in my tracks when I heard a female voice say, "It's okay." At that point, I was not okay. But I still managed to go up there into the spare room where my dog was. I got in there, he seemed to be way less freaked out now than he had been. He stopped barking. And when I told my family what happened, of course they
36:00
just laughed it off. So, I tried to let it go.
Rude. We believe you.
We do. A few weeks after my friend was sleeping over. This friend had a very strong connection to the paranormal and the next morning when I woke up, she told me that in the middle of the night she had gotten up to go use the bathroom and when she was about to walk back downstairs to my room, she heard a female voice. She can't remember what they said to her, but she specifically remembered it being female and when she said, "Lindsey", my name, no one answered. So that two times, female voice.
Mhm.
She said she thought I'd woken up and was maybe just sitting in the living room, but nope, I was in my bed fast asleep. So, she and I agreed that my house must have a ghost.
Yeah.
After that, nothing really happened except for the usual misplaced objects, things disappearing, until last week. I had woken up to start getting ready for work, having had a weird dream about some sound of glass breaking, and when I walk out of the room to head upstairs, one of my dad's collector's MLB glasses
37:00
was shattered on the floor. We have an opening over our stairs where my dog likes to stick his head, and my dad said that maybe he probably dropped his toy and the glass had fallen off the counter. However, the glass was everywhere and there were no dog toys in sight. And I know my dog, and if that was the case, he would have left the toy and not chanced walking over the glass because he's truly scared of everything.
Oh, poor baby.
My dad started helping me clean up the mess and goes, "Wow, that's crazy. This is an Astros glass. The Red Sox just kicked them out of the World Series last night." Out of all of the glasses to break, and we have the whole MLB collection and many more, it was that one.
Wait.
Call me crazy, but I don't think it's too crazy to be a coincidence.
Yeah, that's more than a coincidence.
Mhm. Then just last Friday, I texted my mom around 2:30 a.m. to let her know that I was sleeping over somewhere so that she wouldn't worry. When I got home, my mom asked if I'd come home to grab all of my stuff, which
38:00
I replied, "No." She then goes on to tell me that right after she read my text, she heard a girl giggle. The TV was turned off, my dad was asleep, and when she looked outside, there was no one. She said that she just shook it off, looked back at her phone to reply to my text, and while her head was down, she felt our smaller dog walking up towards her on the bed. But when she heard her sneeze, she looked up and the dog was all the way on the other side near my dad's feet. Feeling a little freaked out, she replied to me, turned off her phone, and closed her eyes. She said a little while after closing her eyes, it looked like someone flashed a light in her eyes. And when she opened them, her room was pitch black. So, she is no longer calling me crazy.
Finally.
Mhm.
I'm glad. That That's like multiple hauntings all at once.
Mhm.
Finally, the spirit revealed themselves to someone else in your family and went all out.
Just the other night, me and her somehow got to talking about psychics and mediums, and she often tells me that she
39:00
is skeptical of them because before I was born, one told her that there was a little girl with her. But she had never known a little girl who died. I had never given it much thought, but now I'm starting to think that maybe my mom does have a young girl attached to her. Is that the little girl in our house? Let me know what you think. Much love, Lindsay.
Damn.
Mhm.
I mean, all of the hauntings, like this the voice-related and sound-related ones, seem all tied to this girl. But I'm so curious about the Astros glass, like cuz that sounds like a moment where like you're so pissed your team lost that you're like, I I can't be a fan anymore.
Screw this team. No more Astros.
Yeah, so I'm curious what the tie
I know.
this spirit has to the Astros.
Right, cuz it's not like this family was an Astros fan.
No, it's just like an MLB sports.
Sports, man.
And an MLB cup, and there was like a whole collection of them.
But it is interesting, yeah, that it was like perfectly aligned with what was
40:00
going on in the series.
series. Huh. What do you all think?
Interesting.
I don't think it's a coincidence. Okay,
spooky child, spooky adult
I have one more and then we'll look at the the superstitions that you all have.
Great.
This listener asked us to call them Sticks. s t i x It's their nickname.
Uh it's called spooky child, spooky adult. Greetings, ghostesses. I'm a relatively new listener, which is surprising considering my spookiness. I have had experiences since I was 6 years old, and I'm pretty certain I know why. Because when I was 6 years old, I was playing in a baseball game. I hit the ball, ran toward first base, and then nothing until I woke up in my parents' car. They were taking me to the hospital because I had suddenly stopped breathing in the middle of the game. While I was running towards first base. I believe I crossed over briefly, and since then is why I have seen, heard, and felt spirits. I have several stories to share, but I'll share three in this
41:00
email. The first one is called Sunday lunch guest. When I was younger, almost my mom's entire side of the family would gather at my great-grandmother's farm on Sundays after church. That sounds magical. Like a whole family brunch on Sundays on a farm.
It just makes me think of um what's that righteous gemstones?
Yes. I wasn't particularly comfortable being around that many people at that age, which hasn't changed much. I get you. So, I would go sit in my great-grandmother's bedroom and watch TV with the door open until it was time to sit down and go eat. A menagerie of family members would stop in the doorway to say hi to me as I sat and watched Nickelodeon. Including one man with thick-rimmed glasses. He would smile and tip his head at me before walking off. The only thing is, he was never at the table for lunch. I figured he was just a shift worker and maybe grabbed a plate before heading back to work. Years later, my mom was unpacking some family pictures she had gotten from her mother, and she pulled one out, and there he was. I go, "I know him." And my
42:00
mom went pale. "You know him?" "Yeah," I said. "I've seen him at the farm." It was at this point my mom told me that that was my great-grandmother who had passed away before I was born.
Oh my god. But I also loved it. It's amazing that he's still going to the family gatherings.
Yeah. And he said hello to her.
a big family, too, where she's like never questioned
Yeah.
talking to him.
Right.
Or not. It's just like, oh yeah. Yeah. That guy's always at the farm.
And it took years to figure out that she was seeing a ghost. Okay, the second one is called Haunted High School. I attended a fine arts school from the time I was in sixth grade until I graduated high school. The rumor had been the school's structure was original to the factory that stood there before. Furthermore, the school basement was said to have been the factory's infirmary where injured and possibly dying employees would go. The basement also happened to be home to the drama department's costume shop. One day, in drama class, we split into groups to put together a scene, and I was chosen as
43:00
the sacrificial lamb who would go to the basement alone to find costume pieces. I left the classroom, went down the hallway to the stairwell, steadying my breath, and I opened the door. I stood at the top of the first flight of stairs, and I made my way down. Pulse racing. I turned to complete my journey and saw that the door to the basement proper was open. Strange. That's usually closed. I pressed my back against the cinder block wall as I slid down the second flight of stairs, inching my way to the open door. I looked down the long white hallway and saw that the door to the costume shop was also open. And there was a chair sitting in the doorway. But then, the chair moved. It slid violently from the doorway to the other side of the hallway, striking the wall. I ran faster than I ever run in my life, feeling like I was being chased the entire time.
Right. I'd be so scared that the chair was about to slam into me.
When I reached the top of the staircase, I sprinted through the open door, and it was slammed behind me. Meaning that the entity chased
Oh my god.
Sticks all
This is so aggressive. This is really
44:00
scary.
Yeah. Sticks that I never went down there again. Okay, my third story is called Thank You. Just over a year ago, I was doing a show at a local black box theater and after about 10 years of performing at this black box theater in one way or another, several people have heard about and now know about my spookiness. So, we were all taking a break at rehearsal when a relative newcomer came into the theater building and started talking to me about the vibes there. I told her that while the building wasn't necessarily haunted, that the area downtown definitely was and I listed some random experience that I had had. She was very interested in my stories and asked if I'd always been open to seeing spirits and what other abilities I had. Can you speak to spirits? She asked. Not necessarily, I answered explaining that I only ever get random words that pop into my head. And she goes, what word are you getting now? I explained that it doesn't really work that way. I can't just turn it on and off like a light switch. But as I'm telling her this, another cast member walks up, joins the conversation and I catch her up on what we've been talking about.
45:00
So, I continue, yeah, I can't just turn it on and off, but wait, I am getting a name right now. I'll change the name for privacy's sake, but the name I was getting was Ben. And I asked if it meant anything to either one of them. Before I could finish my question, the second woman who had joined us ran off crying. After a few minutes, the woman walked back to us red-eyed and said, Ben is my husband's name and he just passed away this summer. I didn't even know that she'd been married, let alone widowed. I apologized deeply for frightening her and she said, no, no, no, thank you. I think I needed to know that he's with me.
Oh my god.
From sticks, see you on the other side.
Wow.
Yeah. Also, theater is a sport, so that works for the theme.
How did that How How? Is it actually?
I mean, dancing, if you're like doing musical theater and you're dancing.
Oh, is the answer yes? I was like, wait, are you declaring it as a sport?
actually, in high school, you had to either play a sport or do like a gym class
46:00
Mhm.
and the musical counted as a sport.
Mhm. Well, cuz you're up, you're moving, you're
Yeah, I mean, we're dancing for hours a day doing rehearsals and stuff.
Yeah.
Dang.
Yeah.
I can't believe she died on the baseball field.
So scary. I can't even imagine like as a parent watching that happen.
Mhm.
Jeez.
Terrifying.

And now, let's talk about your
sports superstitions
superstitions and underwear things.
Let's talk about your underwear.
Honestly, I didn't ask about your underwear. You told us about your underwear. So, that's that's on you. Okay. I would only wear a certain sports bra in high school and we won states. I wear the same outfit every time the Pats play and I can't wash it unless they lose. I always used to put my left cleat on before my right cleat. Same with my shin guards.
Okay. Yeah.
Wait, this is wild.
that one cuz the the like kind of OCD part of me is like there's a particular
48:00
order and if you do that like everything is going to crumble and the world's going to end.
Okay, these two are funny. No sex before the game. Interesting choice. And this one bleaching then dying my landing strip red and white which is my team colors. I'm dead. That's amazing. Like when did How did that start?
Yeah, why did you think of that?
I played softball don't touch the white chalk lines it's bad luck before the game starts. This is gross but it also like makes sense cuz hockey just has a smell. When I played hockey I would never wash my jersey or socks until the end of the season.
That is so nasty.
It's so gross.
Oh my god, hockey equipment is so disgusting.
Wait, some of these are hysterical. My daughter swears I'm bad luck begs me not to come to important games.
Uh, I mean that's that's like kind of real where people are like every time I watch a game with you or something they
49:00
lose. You're the bad luck charm or you're the good luck charm.
Yeah. Okay, I actually did this. I don't wear my team's shirt on game day unless I'm going to the game. And I take it off if losing. I did a very similar thing where I wouldn't even touch my jersey the day of the game like I would pack my bag the night before and then I wouldn't even touch it until like I was at the field ready to play.
Oh, interesting.
And I don't know that it was like a good luck thing or anything like that.
come from?
Weird fixation of mine, I don't know. I would keep a $5 bill in my sports bra every time I played a game.
Okay.
Where did that See, this is why I'm like where do these start? Who
Yeah.
How do you learn this?
I didn't have any of these. I didn't do I don't think anyone If anyone had any on any of my sports teams I didn't know about them either.
Yeah.
I think like the closest I had to something was like for one year of snowboarding every time I got on the lift I'd listen to the same song on the lift.
Oh, I like that. I like the first song.
It's your pump up song.
second song, and then I'd have the song that was like my first run.
50:00
But that's just like
Mhm.
routine.
And it was if anyone can guess the year, I'll tell you the songs.
Okay, what are the songs?
And it's going to be all over the place.
Okay.
The first one, get on the lift, "Girls".
Okay.
Halfway up the lift, is it Eric Clapton, like "Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven?" So you slow it down.
yeah, real big shift.
Then hop off the lift, "My humps, my humps, my humps, my humps." That was it.
That was your first
was those three were my
What year was this? Do you want people to guess?
Uh you guys can guess. I mean, it's I think it's pretty clear.
Okay. I can't guess. I don't know anything about music. Also, apparently there's a curse of the Philly Philadelphia Eagles, which now I want to look up.
Mhm.
This year my best friend/soulmate couldn't watch football with me because of the juju. Okay. What's the juju? My friends and I would slap each other's butts as hard as possible before every ballet performance for good luck. When shooting a free throw, you must
51:00
dribble the ball four times and say, "I can make it."
I like that.
that.
That's cute.
Yeah.
Little affirmations. Oh, I like this one. I'll remote start my car at hockey games if we're too close to going into overtime.
Like kind of as like a Nope, no overtime.
is ready. It's warmed up.
My brother always wore mismatched shoes. His basketball team went to states twice. I yell hot dog during free throws to make the other team miss.
That's just heckling.
If I don't listen to big booty mix before race, I will What's DNF mean?
Did not finish?
Also not finish the race.
Yeah. Yeah, in sports and racing indicates a competitor did not complete the race or event.
So always listen to your big booty mix. Okay, the one I'll end on is hilarious. My ex knocked on wood so much that while he did it, I started wishing something bad would happen to him.
Reversing it.
Well, he's your ex for a reason.
52:00
So, something bad did happen to him. He lost you.
That's true.
Yeah. But that's that's kind of like a funny idea that's like someone's trying so hard for like their own luck and superstitions not knowing that the person next to them is actively working against that.
Working against them.
It's like try harder.
Wow.
Yeah, let us know. I'm sure there's so many of you who are listening who have little superstitions or ticks that you would do when you played sports growing up or if your family watches like, you know, it's big Patriots fan and they have superstitions. I always think about What's the Dinner for Lawrence movie? Silver Linings Playbook and how the dad always had to sit in the same chair, the remote had to be in the same spot. Like, it was very You follow You follow the superstitions.
Yeah.
Cuz what one fan does,
it makes a difference for an entire team.
entire team.
Yep. We're laughing about it, but also like do you believe in like energy and intention and feeling and if it's like everyone has their own thing, but it's like contributing to a particular end and
53:00
that end is all the the same for everyone. Like, who's to say it doesn't work?
Right. Willpower and manifestations are very real thing. So, keep doing your weird things. We love them and we want to hear them.
