officially seven years of podcasting my gosh for two girls one ghost two girls one ghost say hi Le she's like instead I'm gonna walk all over your recording equipment it's been seven years of Leia walking over our recording equipment honestly I can't believe how old she is and I can't believe how old this podcast is the fact that we've been doing this for S years is honestly befuddling and bewitching because we never thought it would get here so thank you to all of you who are listening it is so incredible to share our passion for the Paranormal with all of you we've recorded our very first episode in your apartment and I'm so severely allergic to cats that I was like crying and stuffed up and could barely breathe by the end of the episode but was there we were like if we're ever

going to do this we have to commit to recording one so we recorded the very first episode we put it out and then we didn't do anything for like another four weeks which is so not yeah wait we recorded it and then I went to Thailand and then we recorded another one when I got back podcasting is so different now because there's so many more resources and people like there's an actual business plan around it that a lot of people have and not to say we didn't have a business plan but we we didn't have a business plan at all you watch YouTube videos and you're like this is how we upload it and I was like okay yeah that was all the plan because we basically were like oh this is just going to be a fun it was partially for us to have fun together and talk about a topic that we enjoyed and already naturally talked about and we both were like the two people out of our group that were very uh dedicated to listening to podcasts early on but then also part of it like let's be honest it was to cure or put like a Band-Aid over oh there's a picture of us we look like

those microphones were [ __ ] we'll put these in the video but also I had just moved to Massachusetts so I was so lonely I knew very few people here and so a part of it honestly was to like give me some social interaction that was for you but for me it was like this is how Karen you and I can stay connected as friends because you know that was a big move and I think we were also in a time in our lives at least our friend group was in a Time Of Our Lives where it was very social so it was very much like you spend the time with the people that you're going out with and that's like your group and you leaving was that was a huge kism in our group and also like our friendship and so yeah I'm so grateful because also out of our group I I lived like you lived right down the street from us yeah but I lived amongst there were like seven of us that were all right there in the same apartment complex right next door six of us were next door to each other it was like totally like an epod of friends

yeah so it was definitely different because that when I moved it also kind of spurred some moments for other people to be like okay well now I'm going to move in with my partner now I'm going to get an apartment alone and so it did kind of all at the same time we started to kind of web out and Scatter a little bit not that people scattered far I was the only one that actually like moved outside of the town that we had lived in but I think our journey is wild because I think there's a lot of planning that goes into a lot of people people's podcasting and I think that's something we had to learn along the way yeah

Growth and business milestones

because we were not intending for this to be what it is now that was just kind of a happy accent we truly got lucky like I think there just weren't that many podcasts out there that were the format that we had that was talking about the Paranormal really there just weren't that many paranormal podcasts at all and so we very podcast I mean there were a lot of podcasts but not compared to today like a lot of podcasts like anyone can start a podcast and and we

prove that anyone can start a podcast we provve that with our horrible shitty microphones you know what interesting because I always think about it I had started a Running Blog and I feel like I missed the boat where I like started a blog when everyone was starting a blog and then we started a podcast before everyone was starting podcasts and so we kind of like wee our way in to the podcast nja your ears sorry yeah but that was great because once we hit a thousand listeners which is such a monumental Mar for anyone who's in podcasting like to have a thousand people listen to you is so huge like that feels yeah we're like oh my God I guess we can't say just anything on the podcast anymore which we definitely still do um but that that's what triggered us to be like oh okay I guess we have to you know have a real clear schedule and we can't just put this out whenever we feel like it I mean we could but it wouldn't be what it is today if we we need consistency didn't commit to the Paranormal the way that we did 7 years feels like it's flown by but when we really look back at it and you and I

bought an ad and then it was probably a month or two before anyone else did anything with us and so we felt really committed to them and they were such a small operation at the time I don't know how big they are now but I remember like having a question cuz they were our first adver advertisers so I called their customer support line and I was just speaking to the CEO cuz it was like the three founders were basically the only three people working there at the time so I was just chatting with them and it did feel like this awesome kind of like connection and really cool moment for I guess both both of us in our careers yeah it was within the first like year and a half that like we were like oh wow this is actually going to be something we got sponsors then I think it was like year two the Universal Horror Nights thing happened and then we went on a mini tour I think or maybe it was year three when we did our mini tour and that was when we were both working full-time jobs doing the podcast we were editing ourselves we were posting two episodes a week and we were truly I was burning ourselves out God thought I was

going to die backstage at zany in Nashville we were like extremely hung over it was we had both been flying but basically like I would take a Friday Night Flight get to the city we do a show on Sunday night I would take like a 5:00 a.m. flight the next morning to get to work on Monday I was like just starting writing in writer's room so it felt like you know so many big things were happening at the same time and we were just like I don't know how we can continue doing this and we almost we almost disbanded well like we did quit we quite literally did for like two weeks yes well this is just even more

Building a community

proof of like Serendipity and the Paranormal world and stuff and our one brain cell and our one brain cell cuz we were like we can't do this anymore we cannot operate how we're operating we don't even get to talk as friends anymore like we it was just really negatively affecting us in terms of like where we were in our careers and our lives and we decided backstage before going on that we were going to end the podcast in o October and that show was

like in July or something so literally backstage us we like crying we're changing our recording schedule to like have our final episode we go on stage we do our thing finish out the mini tour and then two weeks later at the exact same moment unprompted it wasn't like we were texting back and forth the exact same moment we both sent each other a big long text being like here's all the reasons I don't think we should actually quit the podcast then we were like okay let's instead of like quitting let's get some help and then I think my brother started editing some of the encounters episodes and then we hired our first editors Eric and his team from upfire digital yeah yeah when things started happening and and we actually started getting sponsors and we were like oh my God is this supposed to like be something we reached out to whn and crime who we'd never talked to before we reached out to them on like Twitter and we were like you guys seem like you know what you're doing what do we do and they actually gave us like business advice and we just

Reflecting on the journey

incred and also like I say we but I think our community has built this community like we started the podcast and then these like incredible spooky haunted ass people have come together and just built this incredible beautiful community that we're just so we're lucky

to be a part of and grateful that yeah you've created it around us cuz thank you and the community still does feel very small like I think that when you look at podcast charts or some of the people we've been able to kind of gain access to in the podcasting World it does feel sometimes like we're a lot bigger than we actually are our community is still a lot smaller we're still one of the smaller independent podcasts but it is really nice to like feel like we have so many moments to celebrate along the way and that we have the whole Community with us as we're celebrating them I also think that we're very um transparent with what's going on with like our business or the cool things we get to do so it does feel like we're bringing everyone along with us too especially when people are like oh you should do something with this person and I think a lot of the opportunities we've had too have come from our community saying our name or tagging us enough in other people's posts that like people do start to recognize our name and it does give us access to some of

and we did this a couple like a couple months ago we ended up doing an encounters where we reread some of our favorites from over the years and we thought because it's our 7-year podcast anniversary what better way to celebrate than again rereading some of our absolute favorite encounters that we've read from over the years and more than just favorites they're ones that we reference so frequently throughout our podcast so you know a lot of people

might remember back in 2017 that there was a total solar eclipse passing over the states I live in a rural coastal town in northern California and a few friends and I discovered that the line of totality was less than 10hour driveway in Madras Oregon seeing as most people go their entire lives without ever experiencing the surrealness of a total solar eclipse a few of us packed several blankets and some chips and hit the road we decided to break the trip trip up into a several day mini road trip the first night we camped at the umwa hot springs 2 days before the eclipse we got there pretty late and wanted to get on the road early so the only chance to hit the hot springs was when we got there at 1:00 a.m. this is where things got weird the drive from the campground to the hot springs was only a few minutes but there was an immediate shift in the atmosphere when we got on the road it was like everything all of a sudden became tense which was odd because prior to this we had been having a great trip and were so excited to hit the water and that's when

we saw it it had the elongated head of a horse but a humanoid is body it was hunched as if it were trying to appear on all fours but its shoulders were very wrong like someone stretching their arms backwards my mind could hardly grasp what I was looking at it was Chestnut in color but then quickly we were past it my friend that saw it too was just as confused and we wanted to turn back and just do the hot springs in the morning when it was light out but the others were like you guys it's probably just a here you probably missa what you were looking at so my friend and I were like whatever we're tough guys we can fight a wereare horse or whatever it was so we continue on to the hot springs so we get to the hot springs and there's a few miles between us and whatever that thing was so we all start to calm down a little we hike up to the hot springs it was a quick 10-minute one so we carefully made our way up tensions were still high but it was a long day so maybe that was what it was then we get there and it was amazing the water the clear moonlit night and we had it all to

ourselves at least we did when we first got there okay for a minute I was like wait I feel like I recognize this person's name and I feel like I should know what email this is and now I do it took you this long yeah it took me the song this is a good one as if we'd pick ones that aren't we do reference this one constantly though a lot yeah about 10 minutes into us relaxing in the pools we heard an Eerie feminine singing coming from one of the other pools we were confused there had been no one in that pool a minute ago we had done the rounds and we knew we were alone plus there was only one Trail leading up to the spot and the only way to the pool that the singing was coming from was if someone walked past us we were all weirded out but thought maybe she was just really quiet and we hadn't noticed her P also weirdly the singing was setting us at ease it was beautiful and the three of us guys were immediately entranced and wanted to go see who this mesmerizing singing was

coming from there was one girl with us and she was freaking out at this point she had been facing the trail the whole time and had not seen anyone come up and she was like this singing is making me feel sick oh we told her no it's fine don't worry about it and one by one got up to go see who the siren singer was I was the last one of the boys to go my friend Caitlyn was begging me not to leave her alone but my curiosity wouldn't allow me not to I apologized and quickly rushed over to the other pool Caitlyn begrudgingly followed me after we were all there the lady stopped singing so us boys complimented her and we did the whole introduction thing and she sang a few more songs for us all of them creepy a lot of dissonant notes and minor Keys plus the lyrics of the songs were just as creepy like entire Villages dying of plagues or losing several of your infant children to famine and having to eat them she told us a few other depressing just an uncomfortable move to be singing for strangers like oh you enjoyed my humming that wasn't just

a polite compliment I'm going to continue to serenate you for three more songs like awkward and also like sure someone playing music can be like really hot and romantic but I've been in a situation where this was in college early days there was a guy and I had like made out with him and after we made out he took out his guitar and started playing and I was like help me how do I get out of this it was the most uncomfortable thing in the world so just imagine like going into this spring and this girl being like let me continue to sing for you like putting on a little conert is weird she also told us a few other depressing things like how she had lost the love of her life long ago and decided she would never love again she had this deafening sad energy all around her but for some reason none of us could pull away except Caitlyn of course who decided mm-m and noed out of there she grabbed her boyfriend the one female the one fale felt weird was the female cut

away from whatever spell this is yes so Caitlyn grabbed her boyfriend and said yeah I need to talk to you over here now they left and went back to the other pool which left me and this other guy she started getting really seductive at this point talking very openly about how having sex in Hot Springs was supposed to be magical and I immediately found myself thinking about the girl I had just started dating and was like wo whoa whoa what the hell am I doing so I stood up and I told my friend that we should go back to our other friends but it was too late he told me no you go I'm going to stay I reminded him that he was dating my new girlfriend's best friend and he looked at me with anger in his eyes and said get the [ __ ] out of here he'd always been a very peaceful guy and outbursts were never his things even in times of great distress so I knew something was wrong the songs the weird attraction the strange creature we had seen on the road driving there something was going on I went back to the other pool and told the others what was happening and we speculated on what this person was was it the thing that we saw on the road was it a ghost we apologized to Caitlyn

for not trusting her instincts earlier because man girls just know sometimes about an hour later he comes back to our pool he's disoriented drained and he looks at us and says we have to go Caitlyn was like no excuse me we waited this long we're going to see the sunrise and it was beautiful the forest started to come alive with a new day that is when we saw her she was out of the pool dressed in Elven style clothing her face had an ageless strange Beauty to it somewhere between mid 20s to mid-40s but every time we would look at her face it seemed somehow different from the last time we looked at it but impossible to pinpoint exactly how it was so hard to wrap our minds around and my friend Caitlyn snapped a quick picture because of how odd it seemed we all started to hike back down to the parking lot this woman was trailing behind but still in conversation with me at this point and I'm very polite by nature and didn't want to make her feel dejected just by flat out ignoring her and you know

Analyzing strange phenomena

wrote us a tale that's stuck with us ever since this one is one of the craziest ones where even when we meet new people we're like this is one of those emails that we pull up where we're like okay maybe you don't believe in ghosts but can we at least tell you about this person who had sex with a fairy I get chills looking at the picture the picture gives me bad vibes well also the fact that Spencer is like oh she has no face but like she does it looks like a monster face it looks decaying and decrepit and the fact that her face kept changing too it reminds me of in a court of thorns and Roses how they have that glamour like the fairies have the Glamour and they can kind of like change a little bit about like how they present themselves in there appearance and what your reality is yeah

that she was kind of putting on that Glamour and I think in the past when we read this perhaps we were comparing it to American Horror Story the very first season where the maid who's a much older woman like shows herself as this like really sultry sexy seductive 20s something year old to have sex with the the guy okay but I want to bring up this what which in episode 240 remember we I covered the booh Haag and I was like holy [ __ ] in my research came across this artwork from the 1920s and it's from an Irish fairy tale the hag and the mill and maybe we can just put up these two photos like the photo that Spencer sent and this photo side by side it is strangely alike it's like the same yeah this really freaks me out it is so weird because it's like let's not forget that creepy ass creature that they saw on the side of the road going in it does make me think that her yeah could it have been her or was there something else that was like alerting her like was this

have the woman as the witness who was not falling underneath the face Bell so if she were not there you make a great point would all of them have been in that pool would any of them have left the woods let's just say we're glad that that was not the scenario and everyone did come out alive yes and now we get the story which is great for us it it it is okay but I have one that is somewhat related this one stuck with me because this is a timeline kind of glitch in The Matrix slip sort of thing and I think previously when we had thought about those stories or at least when I had thought about those stories I really thought about people like moving into or walking into a building and finding the setting different or like the elevator takes them somewhere different but this story stuck with me because it proved that it really can just happen at any time anywhere oh no okay we read this on

encounters number four oh my gosh and it was back in January of 2018 so this was a long time ago a long time ago wow okay this is from AJ and Mandy hi ladies I have a tale to tell and this happened during Halloween two weeks ago so this was Halloween 2017 so a little background on the story I listen to y'all all the time and my best friend and I had to make a road trip from Texas to Illinois to pick up brother slm my boyfriend confusing I know and we decided to take a road trip on Halloween the whole trip we listened to y'all's podcast in the car and it was about a 16-hour drive so 10 episodes killed in 10 hours of the drive which was awesome is this also a our podcast is haunted type of story I think so it was too early to know because we didn't have many examples yet but I think this is this is yeah I mean if you're listening to Ghost Stories on Halloween all hollow's Eve I feel like you're just

kind of opening up everything the last 6 hours or so we listened to another podcast called spooked and of course it's Halloween so all these stories are definitely freaking us out the entire road trip we finally made it to Illinois in one piece we picked up her brother a few hours later and then we head back down to Texas yes it was a long ass road trip so this is where things start to get weird we're telling my best friend's brother all about the podcast and how crazy some of the stories are so we decided again to relisten to everything because it killed the time and y'all are hilarious and you're great at telling your favorite ghost stories so we get back to Missouri finally around 5:00 p.m. we stop we get gas and we had the GPS running the whole time and Siri helping us out the gas station was right off the highway all we had to do was to get straight back onto the road and keep going but for some reason the GPS was taking us somewhere different we didn't know the area at all so instead of just going back to the highway we went where the GPS was taking us mind you it was

dark as [ __ ] and we couldn't see anything so we're heading on this dark ass back road and all of us are starting to feel uneasy I'm starting to feel nauseous and so is my best friend my boyfriend's driving the car and starts to feel uneasy as well we're going down the back road and then it tells us to go down this Dirt Road in the middle of the woods we decided not to do that because something about the road told us that this wasn't a good idea so we keep heading down the road and at some point we decided to turn around and just head back to this gas station and start over because we were lost as [ __ ] we started to head back and the GPS starts to freak out telling us to take a right and then a left and then a right it just keeps going back and forth in a matter of seconds I grab my phone I end through and I restart it which worked and we started going down another road the road was curving it had these deep Hills and it was turning as [ __ ] then the fog sets in and this was out of nowhere we're in the thick of these Woods the car windows are down to try to help with the nauseous feeling that we're all still
