Inside was a cross base with a single mattress. Oh god, and a small well. I think when I opened that door, I let something out that I never should have.
[snorts]
Very spooky.
Welcome back.
Welcome into our freak show tent, where this October, this spooky season, we're telling you your fate.
And the fortune says you will live or die in a haunted house.
You're going to die. Hey, guess what? Fun fact, everyone's going to die.
Yeah, I That's true. I was upset with you for just one moment
1:00
telling everyone that they were about to die. I'm like, "Wow, wait a minute until
It doesn't mean about. It's just eventually you shall.
Yeah, everyone dies and
And everyone poops.
[laughter]
And that is exactly what this podcast is about.
how the world goes round.
This is Two Girls One Ghost.
Two Girls One Ghost.
We are your ghostesses. That is Karen.
Hello.
And I'm Sabrina, and shockingly, I'm not the one with sons. I just have a childlike sense of
[laughter]
brain.
I haven't really gotten into the like poop and fart funny genre yet with my child. I think Noe just just got to a place where she Yeah, she likes poop jokes.
[laughter]
Yeah.
I that I can't wait for.
I know there's something so fun about it.
Like I think it's it's fun, too.
Yeah, lowbrow, but it's it always it always hits.
But there's not going to be much humor in this episode because we have a theme.
We do.
And we're kind of going back to our roots here.
Haunted house.
2:00
That's how we became friends.
Mhm.
Cuz we grew up in haunted houses and that was your fun fact.
And I'm so freaking excited about this first story.
Ooh, okay.
Okay.
Then then start.
Lorraine Warren saved my family
Uh the subject line is the time Lorraine Warren saved my family friend from being possessed by a demon.
Is that not How many people can say that sentence?
Right?
That's wow.
this come in and I was
like snagged, that's mine.
[laughter]
And I will admit it's tangentially hit haunted house related, but it is haunted house related in many ways.
It's enough.
It's enough.
You are enough.
You can be whatever you want to be, we'll still love you.
And even if we create a theme, we don't always stick to [laughter]
It's It's enough related. He gets haunted in his house.
haunted house was in the email somewhere. And so therefore, it shall be read.
The person experiences hauntings in their home because of something they did.
Okay.
Yeah, there we go. Anyway, it's our podcast, we can do whatever we want.
[laughter]
3:00
Hey there, fellow spooky New England gals. My name is Jenna, she/her, and I've been listening to the podcast since late 2018, early 2019, early days. While I've been a huge fan for the past 7 years, this is my first time writing in because I just never felt I had a good enough story to share. However, that all changed this past summer when my good family friend shared an absolutely insane story with me that I just had to share with you, and I have permission to share the story, but names have been changed of the person involved for anonymity.
This is like the only type of social interaction I want right now.
You know, you and I dressed up as clowns in a
Well, just like only receiving cool, interesting ghost stories.
Yes.
Otherwise, like what is there to say? Do we have to conversate?
No.
It's not worth it.
And most likely, we probably aren't.
[laughter]
Although, I've been quite social.
You have. You're You are

Okay.
a penis show up in [laughter] her in one of her
We're recording this in June.
In one of her word photos, Sabrina had a light that looked a lot like a penis. And you said, "That looks like a penis." And I
was like, "Is this what Summerween is actually meant to mean?"
Yeah. There's a double entendre there.
So, now we're calling Sabrina Summer Summerween.
Yeah, forget Hot Girl Summer. Celebrate Summerween.
It's Summerween.
It's [laughter] Summerween.
And now it's Halloween.
And now you guys are in on our joke.
Yeah.
From 3 months ago by the time you hear this.
See? We're toddlers. We're little boys.
Okay, back to the story.
Jenna says, "I grew up in Connecticut, and my family was really good friends with this other family who lived in our neighborhood. The dad of this family was a news anchor. We will call him Ben for the sake of this story. This story centers around him. Back when Ben was working for a local Connecticut news channel, he was
5:00
investigating a story about reports of satanic activity in Bridgeport, Connecticut. According to Ben, the reports
the things that I forget that people who have these careers have to deal with. Like, you're a police officer, like I think of so many different things that you're attending to.
But, hauntings might be one, too.
Hauntings?
Satanic activity?
Mhm.
According to Ben, the reports he was looking into were very dark. They involved sacrificed animals, strange symbols, and even stolen human remains.
Wow.
And as he was looking into it, it really started to take a toll on him. He found himself unable to sleep at night, constantly on edge, starting to get angry, and his family even started to hear unexplained noises throughout the house. Haunted house.
Mhm.
Eventually, as part of his reporting, he got to do a TV interview with the Lorraine Warren about her thoughts on the rituals that he was investigating. The interview went well, and ultimately nothing really came of the story from a news perspective. It just felt like a
6:00
lot of satanic panic and misunderstanding of witchcraft, but that's not the point. Anyway, after the interview, Lorraine told Ben that he was a kind and gentle soul, but that he had to be extra careful while investigating this darker side of the world because spirits were likely to target him and want to take advantage of his kindness. Mhm. Ben mentioned all the strange things that had been going on in his life since he started reporting on this story, and Lorraine immediately gave him her phone number and said to contact her if things got worse. A few nights after he had conducted this interview, Ben was awoken in the middle of the night feeling half awake, but almost [clears throat] in a state of sleep paralysis, but he was able to move slightly. Eventually, he got up from bed and went into the bathroom where he saw something move out of the corner of his eye. He turned around quickly to face the mirror where he had seen the movement, but instead of seeing himself in the mirror, there was something else looking back at him. He saw his own body, but where his head should have
7:00
been, there was a dark being with glowing red eyes and horns. Ben was transfixed, but after a moment was able to snap out of it and ran back to bed where he eventually fell asleep. How he was able to fall back to sleep after that, I have no idea. Probably terror. The next morning, Ben called Lorraine and she set up a priest to come by and bless the house. After the blessing, he stopped working on that story and never noticed anything negative in the house again. Wow, lucky that it worked so quickly. But yeah, this story is probably the most shocking part of this whole
[laughter]
story. Something actually worked. Immediately? Maybe they they got in quick enough. This story was told to me this past summer, probably about 15 years after the events described took place, and I was shocked. I had spent so much of my time as a kid in that house and obviously never noticed anything strange, probably because they took care of it quickly. But, it was amazing that Ben had never shared this story before.
This is like some of that lore that like I wonder if the parents were like, "Okay, let's not share this thing cuz what if we want to sell this house?" And
8:00
you know, there's all those those thoughts, but I'm like, "This is the most amazing lore that this house could have." Like, if I were house hunting, how cool. Give me the house. Choose me.
Choose me, house, choose me. Um he was very clearly shaken up when he did tell me about it eventually. It's clear he doesn't like to talk about it. But, yeah, that's Ben's story, and I do have a quick fun fact about my own connection to Lorraine Warren. I attended the same high school that she went to. It was an all-girls Catholic high school in an old mansion that was definitely haunted. We were always told that when Lorraine went there, she only stayed for a year or two because she was so deeply affected by the spirits at the school that she wasn't able to focus on
Wow.
her studies.
It did make me wonder, too, knowing that when she went in, did the whole thing, and it worked right away. It makes me curious if there's kind of like a crew of spirits that sometimes would accompany her.
Mhm.
And we're just like, "Roll out."
Yeah, clean the house.
Yeah.
Get to work.
Or
there's a group of spirits who know Lorraine, and they're like, "Ugh, I
9:00
don't want to deal with her again."
god.
I'll leave.
Let's go to the next door neighbor's house.
Yeah. And then she said, "I don't know how true all this was, but what I do know for certain is that Lorraine would come to our school to do talks around Halloween. But, she would only ever come back if she had a priest with her, and she always avoided the basement at our school."
Interesting.
Hope you enjoyed.
reputation where you don't even have to say anything, but just making small choices and actions starts huge rumors.
Hugs, Jenna. And I know that Lorraine Warren has her problems, and the Warrens in general have their issues.
Yeah, we've talked about it on our episodes, but it's also hard cuz we've got like a thousand episodes out, so most people probably didn't even hear that one.
And then also still the infamy they have in the paranormal space and like to have this connection. And she did some good here. It helped protect the man and his family from the weird things they were experiencing and clearly something demonic.
[clears throat]
Replacing his face in the mirror.
Messed up.
Horrifying. That's very American Horror
10:00
Story.
It truly is. Oh, American Horror Story, that was one of the my favorite episodes to research. American Horror Story the set and multiple seasons had a bunch of different hauntings. We did cover it a year or two ago.
Probably. You It was mostly about um the New Orleans season, right? The witches?
Um yeah, the majority of the hauntings happened there, but some of the other Yes.
Can't wait. It'll be haunted again and so maybe we'll have a part two. How cool would it be if we could interview some of the people from the show?
That would be amazing.
Did I ever tell you back when MySpace was a thing, I told everyone that Emma Roberts and I were friends because I commented on her MySpace page and she responded. So I was like, Emma Roberts and I are friends.
I don't think it even crossed my mind that you could find celebrities on MySpace.
Yeah, and I did. And I'm best friends with Emma Roberts now. [laughter]
My gosh. Wow, I had no idea.
My sister was like, it was probably her assistant. And I was like,
Do you remember when Aaron Carter randomly started following a bunch of us
11:00
at LMU?
No, I do not remember that.
don't know why that happened.
That's very weird.
Yeah. I got an Aaron Carter [laughter] follow. It's like, hello. Have we met?
Interesting. He was just like on campus and it was like, people you might know. He just
It must have been walking through our campus like, dude.
Anyhow, it's like us and all the people we follow.
That's [laughter] true. We follow a lot of people.
Yeah.
That's how we tried to get you to follow us back.
Yeah, back in the day before there was real social strategy
Hey, it worked for us.
It I guess it did.
now, nine years later. Toss just some toss.
Two little clowns.
[laughter]
Clowning around.
It has been requested that I take off my makeup by my child who was scared of me in the kitchen just 15 minutes ago.
if only he knows what else is coming.
I literally said to him, I was like, I have like I fed you dressed as Shrek. This shouldn't be shocking to you at all.

the entity attached to me since childhood
Okay, I have a story called
13:00
I think I have something attached to me since childhood.
So sorry.
Hello ghosties, I recently discovered your podcast. I've been obsessed and have been binging episode after episode. My boyfriend's very tired of me yapping about it.
[laughter]
Anyway, I'll start yapping and I'll get straight to the point. I genuinely don't know if I've had something attached to me my whole life or if I've just spent years around places filled with grief and trauma and fear. But either way, I can't stop thinking about it.
Mhm.
For privacy, I would like to go by E. I'm 20. I grew up between Florida and Alabama, and most of my childhood was spent bouncing between my dad's side of the family and my mom's side. And both had very different beliefs when it came to the paranormal. My dad's side, deeply Catholic. But they also fully believed in spirits and reincarnation and demonic presences and brujeria.
Mhm.
And growing up there, there was definitely some rooms in my cousin's house that we weren't allowed in because he was heavily involved in witchcraft.
I have questions. I really want to learn more about this.
14:00
My abuela would literally make us stay in our rooms while certain visitors came over. One man in particular they called the voodoo man. We weren't allowed to look at him. We weren't allowed to talk to him. We weren't allowed to ask him questions. But I have so many. This is so scary. Like [gasps and snorts] imagine being like someone's coming over and you just lock yourself in your room and don't look at them, don't speak of them, pretend that they're not here.
That's what I did with my mom.
had men [clears throat] over, but like
[laughter]
this is a very different experience.
you to do that.
No, I did that by choice.
Yeah.
I was like, I do not exist. Disassociate.
I am not here.
[laughter]
You're like the creepy little doll child. They're like, "Ooh, do you have a mannequin in the corner?" It's like, "No, that's my middle child, Sabrina. [laughter] She's strange. We don't talk about it."
one.
[laughter]
Here, meet the other two. Uh okay. As a kid, I was more curious than I was scared, but even then I felt like the adults around me were genuinely fearing certain things. Eventually, we moved to Alabama onto my mom's family's
15:00
property, and that place felt pretty eerie, but in a completely different way. The property had been in our family for generations and sat deep in the woods behind a long rocky road with a locked gate. There were abandoned barns, workshops, hunting land, old houses, and our family graveyard sitting down the hill. Is this like an abandoned commune? Like what what is this? Are you a
with your family.
So cool.
[laughter]
Are you the Addams Family? Who do you choose?
Yeah. Some graves had names, some didn't. Past the graveyard sat my great-grandfather's abandoned house, slowly rotting in the woods. And during the daytime, I would wander around exploring these things cuz I was a curious kid.
Sure.
But at night, I refused to even look out the window. I refused to look towards the graveyard. I always felt like I was being watched there. Not creeped out, but like genuinely watched. What makes it stranger is that my mom experienced things long before I was born. She told me her friends hated sleeping over because they swore that the whole property was haunted. One night, one of
16:00
her friends woke up sobbing saying she saw lights moving through the graveyard and heard three loud knocks at the front door in the middle of the night. Her mom came and picked her up around 2:00 a.m. because she was so terrified.
[gasps]
My mom also admitted that she constantly felt like she was being watched when she was growing up there.
Damn.
Even my momma supposedly had experiences on the property. There's also an old family photograph that still creeps me out to this day. In the picture, my momma is standing in her garden smiling for the camera, but behind her is a tall man that nobody recognizes. Blond hair, green eyes, overalls. Standing there, clear as day, like he intentionally posed for the photo.
Do we have this photo?
I don't think so.
Oh, no.
My family swears he was not there when the picture was taken and nobody knows who he is.
Well, if this house has been in family in in their family for years,
Yeah.
is it a family member? Is it her guardian?
Could be.
Wow.
Looking back now, another thing that unsettles me is that people have always said that I look identical to my mom.
17:00
Not just similar, but like identical.
Copy and paste.
We even have a picture where we're the exact same age and genuinely it looks like the same exact person, besides the clothes. Sometimes I honestly wonder if whatever was there mistakes me for her, considering how similar our experiences have been. One day I asked my grandmother why some of the graves didn't have names and that is when she told me that years ago during the time of plantations still being operated nearby, my family found a runaway little boy in the woods who was dying from a fever.
Oh.
They tried helping him but unfortunately he passed away on the property and they buried him near a tree. After hearing that story the land felt even heavier to me. And as I got older I started hearing footsteps, scratching in the walls, constantly feeling like someone is standing behind me. Eventually we moved away but the feeling followed me. When I was around 13 we moved into another older house sitting on a hill near a winding road. My room had this strange locked compartment built into the wall above my bed with this old rusted knob and keyhole.
18:00
And I never opened it but that room always made me feel really uneasy. Around the same time my parents' relationship completely fell apart and the atmosphere [clears throat] in the house became really tense, really heavy. Eventually my mom met another man and we moved into a trailer with him and his family in Florida. From the moment I met him something about him just felt wrong. That's where I had my first experience that I genuinely cannot explain. One summer night I woke up suddenly with the feeling that someone was staring at me. Everyone was asleep and down the hallway the sheer curtains looked like something was moving behind them. The air turned freezing cold and I felt pressure crushing my chest and my throat. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak. I remember staring into the hallway terrified, feeling dizzy and weak and then just like that it stopped. The next morning I noticed scratches along my side and after that things in my life just got significantly worse. And through all of it I always felt like something was nearby. My freshman year I
19:00
became really interested in paranormal topics and spirituality and not just like the summoning spirits type of way. I was honestly trying to understand things. Eventually I moved in with my adoptive Sasha foster mom, and things were calm at first, but after we moved in, strange things started happening there, too. Footsteps, scratching, my doorknob my doorknob rattling at night. And one night, around 3:00 a.m., my adoptive mother woke up furious because someone had been knocking on her bedroom door. My brothers were awake playing video games since where they never knocked. They didn't hear anything. The camera showed nothing, and eventually she got so uncomfortable that she asked me what we should do, and I suggested that we needed to cleanse the house. We needed to firmly say whatever was there was not welcome. And oddly enough, after doing this, things did slow.
Snaps for you.
Yeah. Also, there's a lot that just seems to be following this.
I know. I'm like, is it the house or is it your family? It's probably a combination.
Yeah. Well, cuz definitely at least the
20:00
like farm area, like that's for sure haunted cuz years before that they were born.
You draw them in. You're a beacon.
into it.
Yeah.
Years later, I reconnected with my dad's side of the family and temporarily moved in with my grandparents and my aunt. That house felt unbearably heavy, and everyone there openly admitted that they heard and saw things. One morning, after coming home from a friend's house, my grandma and my aunt randomly asked me if I thought that I had something attached to me or whether I had been baptized or not. And I kind of laughed this off, like whatever, but they were being dead serious. My aunt then told me that a little girl had died in the house years ago, and that they would sometimes see her at night.
Aw.
She had black hair, a white dress, no face. Then my aunt said something that still sticks with me. She doesn't like you.
Okay.
Excuse me?
Can we resolve this issue?
Imagine being told that. Like, hey, by the way, there is the ghost of a dead little girl in here.
And she doesn't like you.
21:00
Right. Instead of being like, she means no harm or she just pops up, it's like
Yeah.
Bad things are coming for you. Sucks for you.
Too bad.
Jeez. [laughter]
Too bad, so sad. Later they had me sit alone in a back room where most of the activity supposedly happened, and within minutes the room became freezing cold. I felt overwhelming fear and sadness and pressure all over my body. It felt hard to breathe. Every instinct in me screamed at me to leave, and I finally ran out of the room shaking. My aunt later claimed my face looked different, and after I sat down I noticed that I had three long scratches across my back. I still remember my grandmother praying over me afterward.
What the heck?
[sighs and gasps]
The weirdest part is that even after moving away, I still occasionally feel watched.
Again, cuz it's you. Not just these houses.
Here's a question.
Where have you lived where nothing's happened?
If nowhere, you're the problem.
Sorry.
[laughter and gasps]
It's me. I am the problem, it's me.
I don't think I said those lyrics right.
22:00
Yeah, it's Sorry.
We got the point.
Sometimes I'll hear scratching and movement at night. Nothing violent has happened recently, but I do have the feeling that nothing has ever completely left. What really gets to me is how people react when I tell them these stories. My boyfriend gets genuinely concerned, and not like a joking like, "Oh, it's a ghost story" way, either. Like he has told me multiple times that the way I describe things does not sound normal. And honestly, sometimes he seems almost scared when I talk about it. Part of me wonders if growing up around so much fear and trauma and old properties and family beliefs has just maybe messed with my perception, but another part of me can't ignore how consistent these experiences have been throughout my life, especially because multiple people, completely separate from one another, have said the same things without me bringing them up first. So I guess my question is this, does this sound like an attachment, or is this maybe more psychological and environmental? Either way, I'd really appreciate anybody's honest opinions. This is from E.
23:00
I mean, I definitely do think going through a lot psychologically
Mhm.
opens you up. But based on everything you've shared about your family, too, and like the practices they have, I think you're just you're born into it.
And then you're just more open and so more things happen.
Right.
It's a combination.
It's a combo.
combo platter.
But it is interesting. I'm curious how E beyond just what E and like maybe we're the wrong people to hear things because we also have some like desensitization.
Mhm.
Is that a word? I don't know.
Yeah. Yeah, we're desensitized.
Yeah, to like some bits of paranormal, but to the point where E is saying like her boyfriend's concerned because
Yeah, if especially things described especially
also like is that the trauma response? Is she being blasé about how she's describing things? Like she finds it horrifying, but
Well, I mean she did say nothing violent has happened recently. And it's so it is very blasé. And then if you take that plus someone who has zero experience and doesn't have a history of paranormal
24:00
things.
And you're like, "Oh, I've been scratched by little girls and demons multiple times in my life in different places."
would be terrifying to someone who has no experience.
Oh, you don't feel watched at your home? You don't hear scratches and voices?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, you're right. I guess some people would find that disturbing.
That would be a little uncomfy. Okay, speaking of
we think that you are normal. One of us.
Deemed haunted, but normal.
Chin chin.
freak.
Cheers to you.
Mhm.
Okay, I have a fortune for someone, our next listener, and the fortune is, yes, you are haunted.
[laughter]
Um
Surprise, surprise.
Surprise, surprise.

DIY exorcism, no priest required
This is from our listener Payton, she/her, and uh it's a little bit of a doozy.
It is called DIY house exorcism. No priest required
26:00
or no priest whoa, no priest required. I can't even read it. Ah, {question mark} demon {question mark} ghost {question mark} Hello lovely ghostly ghouls, fan and fruit fly. My name is Payton. Please feel [clears throat] free to use my name on the pod. I've been a listener since 2020 and I love the show. I've gotten hopelessly lost in the triangle with you two and I don't care to find my way out. I've been wanting to send in my story for quite some time, maybe 6 years, the whole time I've been listening. But unfortunately, ADHD has a stronghold on me and the number of times I've thought to myself, I really need to write to Sabrina and Krystyna. But okay, I'm finally committing. As a true Scorpio, I have loved all spooky things since I can remember. My sisters and I have all three been this way. My older sister, teenage niece, and I enjoy the occasional amateur ghost hunt. So, if you girls are reading this on the pod, first, holy And second, hey Brandy, I finally sent in the story. Hey Brandy. Hi Brandy. Any who, for some background, my mother, Tammy, has always
27:00
been on the spookier side, whether she wanted to or not. She had many experiences of her own, and ghost talk was always a fun topic for my family. My mother grew up Catholic and always aligned with some form of Christianity. So, she was the real, never by any means ever use a Ouija board. If your friends try to make one, you leave, type of mother. She did not seek out the paranormal, but it did seem to always find her. Now, Brandy and I have come to the conclusion that my mother has some form of an ability that she never explored or tried to tap into, so I guess we'll never truly know. And then my dad
feels worse that like things are still happening where it's like she tries so hard to not Yeah, she's just like wandering around and things keep popping up.
I know.
And then it's like you have to like skills or knowledge of how to deal with it if you're
if you're trying to ignore it your whole life.
And then there was my dad, Roy. He has always been a skeptic. That is until he lived through the events that took place
28:00
in the house that we all refer to as the house on grasshopper. And this little nickname formed on its own for the name of the street the house was on, and after all the times my little sister and I annoyed our parents with "Tell us the scary stories from the house on grasshopper again, please." This question always crept its way into our family conversations anytime us girls were looking for some late night scares. Okay, a little bit more on the family dynamic. My older sister is 12 years older than me, and she's also my half sister from my dad. My little sister, Lauren, is a full sister. The following events took place in the late '80s before Lauren and I were born. Thank god '90s babies were reporting for duty. So, it's one of these stories that has become more of family lore at this point. My nieces and nephew are now the next generation of kiddos that keep asking my older sister to tell them about the scary stories from the house on Grasshopper.
The house on Grasshopper just like sounds like a a good book.

Yeah, good spooky book.
And it's gotten that name because there is a lot to it.
Okay, I'll do my best to share our ghost story. Or maybe it's our family story of torment via demon. That might be a better way to describe it. My mom would lean more that way, but for myself, I no longer subscribe to the evangelical ways of life. I now align more with the witchy spiritual way of living. And don't get me wrong, I do believe there are evil spirits and whatever was in my parents' house was definitely not friendly cuz it loved to scare the out of my family. But it was kind enough to leave once my mother was forceful about it. No priest required, just some heavy-handed prayer on my mother's part. Okay, so yeah, maybe a little demonic. The house on Grasshopper Drive was normal looking enough on the outside. It was positioned at the corner of the street within a cute neighborhood in the suburbs just outside of Fort Worth, Texas. It was the second house that my mom, my dad, and Brandy lived in as a family along with their two pups, Chance and Angel. This will be important for later. At this point, Brandy was living with our dad full-time and they lived in
30:00
this house from the time my sister Brandy was 6 years old until she was 10. Naturally, things started out small. Doors would be found closed that my mom or sister were sure they just opened or the bathroom sinks would be found running after no one had been in there. And these things my dad was a pro at explaining away according to my sister. As she put it, our dad and my mom gaslit the out of her while living here. And I can hear it now. "Ooh, it's just your imagination." Or no, no, that was just the AC turning on. Don't worry. Either way, they always had the perfect excuse to explain away whatever my sister Brandy was experiencing. All the while, they were experiencing things of their own. And I will give it some grace as they were trying to protect my sister who was young. But my sister knew something was wrong with this house. She could feel it. The house felt heavy.
This is what I appreciate. It's like even when parents try their hardest to just like dismiss things out of the desire to not instill more fear in their children. It's like sometimes things are just so bad or so palpable that it's
31:00
like, "Okay, well maybe you don't believe, but I know something shady's going on."
Yes, you can't ignore it. My sister says it felt as though someone was watching them just lurking in the shadows constantly in this house. Like any other kid, Brandy had many stuffed animals in her room, but unlike any other kid, her toys moved on their own. And not in the cute Toy Story way, but in the holy this place is haunted kind of way.
From
She had a large stuffed dog that she won while playing a typical carnival game at Six Flags in Texas. And it had its own special place right next to her bed. This thing was roughly 4 ft tall and had a head so big, it was difficult for even a child to wrap their arms completely around it. All this to say, this stuffed animal was big and it moved on its own.
Hell no.
No one could explain that simply. One night
Also, how do you not like see it?
That's what she's saying. Like you literally see it moving.
Oh, I thought it was like, "Okay, it moves from like room to room." Or like it'll be in a slightly different position or different section of the room when they come back in. They're watching like this giant thing get up
32:00
and move.
One night, she was headed to bed and rounded the corner into her room to find this large stuffed dog being dragged across the floor and abruptly stopped when she entered the room.
Oh my god.
My sister absolutely lost her little kid in mind, ran out to her parents who were watching TV in the living room, and frantically begins telling them about her stuffed animal moving on its own. My parents attempted to calm her down. They checked her closet. They checked under her bed for monsters. And my mom finished off with the typical, "See, it's nothing. You're okay. Nothing's in your room. It's okay." Of course, this didn't work and to this day she will tell you that she knows she walked in on an invisible force moving her stuffed toy.
Yep.
On another occasion she swears she witnessed a hand pop up in the middle of the pile of all of her stuffed animals sending all of the stuffed animals toppling over and careening to the floor. Yes, a hand nobody included. It materialized in the center of a pile of stuffed toys that originally lay unbothered and unmoved on her desk for
33:00
quite some time.
Wow.
Cue the screams and mad dashing inevitably made to our parents' room. And she now says she can't explain it but she knows what she saw. That she will go to the grave insisting that a hand pushed those toys over.
I believe her.
For sure.
I've brought this up a few times throughout the lifespan of our podcast
Mhm.
but I don't think too recently. When I was in high school on the field hockey team we had an end of year party every year.
Mhm.
One Oh, I Last time I told it I was like I'm going to see if I can reach out to her and ask for the video and now I'm reminding myself that I never [laughter] did that.
[clears throat]
But there was one girl on my team who the party was at her house and it was so great but some of us gathered around her childhood or like the family computer and her mom showed us like her and her mom showed us a video from her uncle's house that was super haunted where he filmed cuz this stuff would happen so often he filmed at his kitchen table like this old wooden table a rolling pin was just like going back and forth back
34:00
and forth. But if you keep watching it like your eyes are on the rolling pin.
Yeah.
But if you pay attention to just past like right by the end of the frame or like where the the camera cuts off you see phantom hands like this come in for a second like appear. Almost like they were doing magic like using their energy to roll the pin.
Woah.
It was crazy.
That was wild.
Haunted roller coaster, man.
That those are the dream friends. This is what this community is. Just let's all swap ghost stories.
year field hockey party that could ever exist.
Damn.
[laughter]
Okay, Brandy spent many nights either sleeping between our parents or sleeping on our parents bedroom floor. And you'll learn in a moment why looking back on it now that the floor was a very risky option. If Brandy did sleep in her room, it was only if my mother's Bible was under her pillow and she had all the lights on and only after she recited her perfectly rehearsed personal prayer requesting her guardian angels to protect her through the night. To this day she still remembers every word of
35:00
this prayer for protection. Okay, so another time our cousin was visiting and the two were sitting on Brandy's bed doing what kids at this age do when out of nowhere bang across her room the closet door slammed shut with a force. The two of them flew from the bed and ran into the hallway so fast their feet barely touched the ground. Again, our parents tried to explain the experience away. Slowly though, over time these occurrences became harder and harder to explain away. Like my mom started coming home from work to find odd things that occurred in the house during their absence. One time she arrived home to find the place mats from the dining table strewn across the house without a reasonable explanation. As time went on she began feeling increasingly uncomfortable when home alone. Eventually she couldn't take the unease anymore that she began accompanying my self-employed father to work. Like so scared to be home alone.
Yeah. Oh, that makes me so sad.
But this couldn't go on forever. My mom wanted to feel comfortable in her own home. One afternoon my parents arrived
36:00
back home after a short work day for my dad and they walked in the door when my mom beelined it to the bathroom. She opened the door to find the lights, exhaust fan, and heater all on with the sink running full blast.
Oh, wow.
The shower curtain had been removed from the hooks and was neatly folded atop the toilet.
Oh, that's so disturbing.
From the other room my dad hears my mom's concerned tone as she says "Roy, can you come here, please?" He walked into the bathroom to find my mom standing in there confused. When he saw the bizarre situation, he became concerned that there was an intruder. Someone had to have been here while we were gone. My mom asked, "Why would someone come into our house to mess with things in the bathroom, remove the shower curtain, and fold it neatly?" My dad began checking the house in hopes to find any sign of the intruder because he was sure it had to be a person, right?
Yeah.
But nothing. And no other items removed or out of sorts. Nothing was missing.
The Like it's one thing to You can't explain away it being folded.
37:00
Cuz you can say, "Okay, all the other things was like a burst of energy. It has no control." But to neatly fold something, that's hard for me to do.
Yeah. So, as they're trying to figure out what the heck happened, the sink in their bathroom starts running again on its own. Then, this starts happening in the middle of the night. It got to a point where it was happening every night for a week. When finally my mother begins recounting her recent experience to my dad as they're getting ready for bed. My dad says, "You're probably forgetting to turn the sink off before coming to bed." My mother said, "Okay, yeah, sure. Next time it happens, I'm waking you up." That night, like clockwork, the eerie and familiar sound of rushing water could be heard from the bathroom just across from their bedroom. My father is sleeping next to her, and just as promised, she wakes him up with a whispered tone. "Roy, Roy, wake up. The sink just turned on by itself." My dad wakes up, listens for a moment. He too hears the water running. He gets out of bed, heads towards the bathroom to shut it off while mumbling something to himself. And just as this man reaches
38:00
for the handle to turn off the sink, I you not, the handle turns off on its own right in front of his eyes.
It's like it's taunting him now.
My mother felt vindicated. See, I told you I wasn't leaving it running. Things continued to escalate, and unexplainable events became more frequent. On one occasion, my parents were laying in bed listening to the sound of an invisible spectral finger running up and down the 80s-style metal blinds just above their heads. My dad would say, "It's probably just the wind of the fan." But no, they could hear what felt like fingers going up and down those blinds. That night my dad almost lost his on their ghost, which was both bone-chilling and probably comical. So remember me mentioning their dogs Chance and Angel? Well, this is when our four-legged friends come into play. my mom was awoken to the sound of a long, dragged-out, rattled and ragged breaths coming from beneath them.
[clears throat]
From right under their bed.
39:00
[sighs]
It's disturbing in so many ways, but I also feel like it's such a classic haunting trope that we actually almost never hear the under the bed really happen. Like kids are afraid of monsters under their bed. Like you're scared that someone's under your bed. Something's hiding under your bed. Almost no story includes that when it comes to the paranormal. Like in reality. It's got it now. Yet here we are. It does happen. My mom lies there for a moment listening. She's trying to collect her thoughts. Mentally confirming she is actually hearing what she's hearing. She thinks, "It must be the dogs." But then no, one of the dogs was right next to her. And the other she could hear in the kitchen. Then there was a long, dragged-out, rattled gasp for air.
[gasps]
From under the bed. It paused, and then another. She quietly shakes my father awake. "Wake up, something is under our bed." My dad groggily says, "No, it's just the
40:00
dogs. It's just Chance or Angel. Just go back to sleep." "Even if it is, check on the dogs. That's concerning. They're gasping for breath." My mother whispers back, "No, Angel is lying next to me, and listen, you can hear Chance drinking water in the kitchen." My dad lies there "Well, what if it wasn't a dog? Then who's drinking the water?" the water? People can lick, too." My dad lies there listening for a moment and that's when he hears it. Those long ragged breaths continuing beneath them. My mom says if you don't believe me go check. Chance is in the kitchen and Angel's right here. My dad gets out of bed, moves towards the living room without another word and swiftly returns with his World War bayonet rifle at hand. What are you going to do with that? My mom says confused. And now my not so skeptic anymore 6'2 father replies with I will be damned if something kills me in my sleep with my own rifle. So he gets back in bed, sleeps with the rifle glued to his chest for the rest of the night. That's what it takes. Later my mother decides to take olive oil and anointed all the doorways while praying hoping it would do something. Unfortunately things continued. A few nights following the familiar
41:00
clicking of the metal blinds began again above her head. And she said that is it. She had it. She grabbed her Bible and began reading scripture out loud. She started praying hard. I rebuke you in the name of Jesus. You are not welcome here. More prayer ensues. And then it starts the wailing. Loud wails of pain coming from everywhere. My mom thought that this meant it was working which pushed her harder to pray. I rebuke you in the name of Jesus she repeated. You are not welcome here. The wails got louder. She prayed more. She continued refusing to back down. She refused to be scared in her own home. Enough was enough. Slowly the wails start to sound distant. She could hear them getting further away until finally they faded into the abyss. And just the sound of peace resonated off the walls in that moment. My mom would have later recount that instantly she felt the house become lighter. Like the heaviness was just poof gone.
42:00
And she was pretty proud of herself. She exercised the whole damn house on her own. No priest required. My dad slept through most of my mother's makeshift exorcism. And my mother took a short break from her prayer, just long enough to wake my dad. Roy, hey, do you hear that? My dad responded with, yes, it's probably just the cats fighting in the front yard. Ugh, come on, how many excuses can we come up with? The next morning, Roy did confess to my mom that he knew it was not cats. He just didn't want my mom to be scared. My family didn't experience anything else in that house after this, until the day they moved out. Eventually, the house was put on the market and my parents did buy another house in a nearby neighborhood, the house that Lauren and I grew up in. But before moving out, my parents were stopped by the neighbor while walking into the house. They struck up a conversation, normal superficial neighborly conversation, when the neighbor brings up the for sale sign in the front yard. And he jokes, you know, nobody's been able to stay in this house long. My wife and I swear it's probably
43:00
haunted by something. Oh, funny you say that. My mom and dad shared a knowing look, but they didn't confirm or deny the neighbor's theory. They just laughed it off and kept this piping hot ghostly tea for themselves. Once the moving was nearly complete, my dad returned to the house on Grasshopper Drive for the last load of items. There were only a few things left, and he decided to make this last trip alone. After grabbing the last box, he went into the house one final time. And in true man fashion, he needed to poop.
[laughter]
So, he goes to the bathroom, and while in there, he hears heavy footsteps coming from the front part of the house. As they moved, he traced their path in his mind. They went from the entryway to the living room. And this man wasted no time. This is probably the fastest poop he ever had in his life. He said, that, finished his business, and booked it the hell out of there. He arrived at the new house, told my mother, well, Tammy, I think your ghost is back. You will not believe what I heard while I was there. Jokes on you, Dad, because she always believed you're the one who didn't. Well, yeah, thank you, ladies. That is
44:00
the house on Grasshopper Drive. Wow. See you on the other side, Payton. I mean, there's so much.
So much. And it's kind of confusing cuz a lot of it's really scary and it's like breathing on the bed.
Yeah, the the
[groaning]
breathing, just like the yeah, rattled breath, the sounds of like activity outside door.
Mhm.
But then there's weird things where it's like, okay, well, why are you folding the shower curtain?
They didn't like the shower curtain. I don't know. And then like it does feel like a kid playing with the toys.
Yeah, dragging the
Dragging the Yeah, cuz like cuz it's not like the thing is coming to life.
Right. It's being manipulated by an unseen force.
Yeah, that's scary.
Very.
Go off, Mom, for rebuking the spirits.
I know. See, you always say it's about intention and I feel like that story was proof that it is. But it's like
Whatever you believe will work should work. Yeah, hopefully.
That's what everyone everyone wants.
that and then there are people who are dealing with things and it's
And then it never goes away, no matter what.
Until randomly, like the Smurl family
45:00
possession, the Hinsdale house, all of them just randomly stops.
Yeah, or the worst is when it stops for a while and then it just randomly starts again. Where you have like a good like 7 months where you're like, oh,
It's like the eye of the tornado, you think you're in in the
And boom.
Yeah, it's back.

I have not taken off this outfit that I'm wearing because it is so comfortable. It is from Skims. It is their cotton fleece collection. It's a matching zip-up hoodie and sweatpants and I cannot recommend them enough. I want it in every color. A matching set goes so far. I can wear it to go grocery shopping. sequential dreams & alternate timelines
Okay, this is called sequential dreams, alternate timelines, shadows, demons, and Benny. Who's Benny? Hi ghostesses, my name is Alana. I have been surrounded by ghosts and intensely fascinated with all things paranormal essentially since the time that I was born. I have countless stories to tell you, many of which I probably already forgotten, but I definitely am the ghost first, rational later type of mindset.
You and us both.
So, it's about once a day that I feel like maybe I have had a supernatural occurrence of some sort.
I love that.
I will categorize these encounters into separate emails to make the timeline a little bit easier to follow, but but just as a teaser, here are some hints of what's to come. First off, I grew up in a peaceful haunted house, hence my
47:00
obsession with your podcast. Second, my college dorm room was a very haunted and I didn't have roommates, which made it extra spooky at night. You had ghostly roommates. Thirdly, my high school was an old Catholic elementary school that still had the leftover murals from when it was being run as such. Fourth, my best friend's childhood home is intensely haunted by multiple entities, one of which is a woman that wails throughout the house, especially when anyone is home alone or there's high tension amongst the family.
Oh, she doesn't like being alone and she doesn't like when you fight.
No.
That kind of makes me sad.
[laughter]
Uh fifth, my current place of work is inside an old sawmill and most of us have known that it's been haunted, but activity has been ramping up a lot.
Damn, okay. We've got a lot in store.
Buckle up.
And lastly, I've had dreams throughout my life, years apart. They aren't recurring, but rather in sequence. It's almost like maybe they're dreams of a past life.
48:00
Hm.
Maybe dreams of the future. I'm not sure. Needless to say, there's no way I could share all of these with you in one sitting. So, I will be sending separate emails. Anyway, as I said, I grew up in a haunted house. And not only that, every house and apartment that I've ever lived in, I've come to know is haunted. So, maybe it is just me.
Yep.
My parents moved to Taos before they got married, and that's where they {slash} I spent the first 14 years of my life up until when we moved to Santa Fe during my high school era. I now live in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my fiance and adorable fur baby shih tzu, Benny.
Benny. Okay.
Hi Benny. My Taos was a sweet two-bedroom cottage kind of house. It's the house that I still to this day associate with the term home. And as a kid, I had an extremely active imagination, as someone put it. I, however, am pretty sure that all of us there would say that I was just embracing my spirituality from a very young age.
Yeah. Yeah.
My friends and I would play witches in my front yard. We would travel around my big beautiful willow tree into other
49:00
realities, casting spells against evil demons and warlocks,
With your magical powers.
Oh, willow trees are my favorite trees. They're so beautiful. We'd carve stakes out of tree branches. We'd play Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And at one point, we even redecorated my bedroom to be a Wiccan store full of crystal balls,
[laughter]
potions, wands, tarot cards, crystals, handwritten spell books that we created. My birthday was also October 24th, and yeah, so I had decorated for Halloween, especially as a kid, but also for my birthday. And decorating for that would be an understatement.
god, that's amazing.
Needless to say, I was extremely witchy and spooky as a child.
Yeah.
So was my mom. That's where I got it from.
[laughter]
Growing up, she taught me about astrology, astrological numbers, numerology. Yet, while a majority of this fun stemmed from long binges of Charmed and Ghost Whisperer. I always knew in my heart that there was so much more truth to the stories and to the magic and ghosts that I felt, especially
50:00
the ghost part.
Mhm.
I knew things that I was making up for fun and playing was maybe fun and play for some people, but for me, my intuition knew that it wasn't just about play. My friend Athena
Already.
Of course.
Athena.
Athena.
What's your name?
My friend Athena and I would spend every single weekend together from the ages of 6 to about 13. And let me preface the story by saying that I to this day have never experienced a truly malicious haunting. But one day, when we were around 7, Athena and I started telling our parents about the quote black demon that lived in my room.
Mhm.
We described it as being charcoal gray in color, had leathery skin, big black horns, red glowing eyes, and I truly don't remember seeing this entity. Yet one day, seemingly out of nowhere, Athena and I imagined it in the exact same way without disagreement or prior discussion. And for years after our initial discussion about this black demon, we would talk about it and somehow telepathically know all of the things that resided in my bedroom and my
51:00
bedroom alone. We would always say that that is where this thing lived. My mom surprisingly never seemed to think much of this bizarre topic, and while the imagery is surely grotesque and bizarre, none of us ever felt really negative about the presences in my home. So, we thought part of this was just childhood imaginations spurred by some creepy content that we consumed, or maybe Athena and I truly knew of this entity's existence. Maybe it simply never acted, but just wanted us to know that it was around.
I don't mind that.
We would all experience odd encounters, including Athena, who I said was over most weekends. She was the closest person I've had to being a sister.
Aw.
We would all experiencing shadows walking through the house out of our peripheral vision, mimic-like voices, odd noises, and the spirits never gave us a sense of danger. If anything, it really [clears throat] just felt like whoever was in the house simply wanted to share the space with us and observe us. But, on several occasions, my mom would be in the middle of vacuuming our circular designed hallway, and she would see me standing in my room out of the
52:00
corner of her eye. She would turn to address me, and I wouldn't be there. So, there was a mimic.
And a creepy kid mimic at that. Yeah.
And my mom was the one who experienced most of the mimic activity. Almost every single time she thought she saw or heard me. And as for me, I seem to always be the one that the spirits took the most interest in.
Well, to be fair, you did seem like you were wanting to be interested in them as well.
Mhm. There were at least two spirits, one masculine, one feminine. And the feminine one would appear to us much more like a silhouette, even though we only ever saw her from our side eye. Whereas the masculine entity would always appear as this hazy shadow with no defined features at all. And I know what you're thinking. Okay, well, could this have been the {quote} "black demon" as Athena and I would refer to it as such? But, the energy from the shadow man felt much more peaceful, much more harmless. He never really did anything. He just kind of wandered the house. On one occasion, when we were around nine, Athena had been sleeping over and we were sharing my twin bed, which had been pushed against the wall, the back wall
53:00
of my room. And she laid with her head on one end of the bed and I laid with my head on the other. The door to my room stood across from us, and at the time I still slept with the nightlight on, so my room was fairly illuminated even though it was the middle of the night. At this time, I would consistently wake up about halfway through the night for no reason. And this happened every single night. I don't know exactly what time it was, but I know that it was always around the same time. So, on this particular night, I was in a deep, deep sleep. But then, once again, boom, woke up, alert. Wasn't half asleep, I was fully awake.
Yeah.
I opened my eyes. I'm still. I'm laying on my side. I'm facing the bedroom door. Immediately, I noticed a shadowy silhouette stretched across my area rug in front of the bed. It wasn't standing in front of me, but rather illuminated on the floor just as one's shadow appears on a sidewalk on a a sunny day outside.
Wow.
But if it wasn't odd enough for someone's shadow to just be laid immobile across my bedroom floor, it also struck me that the shadow kind of looked exactly like me. The shape of the
54:00
wavy hair, unmistakable. So, my instinct immediately clocked it as me looking at myself in the mirror even though I couldn't really make out any discernible features. So
weird.
It was as if I was the one standing there casting my shadow across the floor. And so, immediately I sat up. But this thing remained frozen in the same spot. I stared at it for a while confused by its existence, analyzing, trying to be logical about the situation, but with no reasoning being found, my nerves kicked in and I nudged Athena's foot trying to wake her up so that she could either knock me out of this hallucination or at least validate it. Athena, Athena, I whispered, "Do you see that? Look." But she just groaned and said, "Tell it to go to sleep."
[laughter]
Also, I love Athena throughout this whole
experience.
Most kids, I feel like if they had an experience at a friend's house, they'd be like, "I'm never going back."
No, Athena's like, "Hell yeah."
Athena's like, "I live here now, too. So, we're in this together." "Tell it to go to sleep." She didn't even open her eyes. At which point I was sufficiently freaked and I just quickly laid back down, covered my face with the
55:00
blankets. Eventually, I did fall back to sleep and I never experienced that phenomena again.
Weird.
But now for a theory. So, I was listening to your episode with Holly and Bridget a while back and you touched on the idea that ghosts can sometimes be future versions of ourselves.
Mhm.
Corinne, you shared your own experience of this and I immediately was reminded of my own. Growing up, I always looked back at this encounter as odd, remembering clearly how instinctually I thought that this was me so quickly even without giving it proper consideration.
Right.
So, is this one of my Haunting of Hill House moments? The next experience in that house is one I have never forgotten. My dad would stay up late working on his computer almost every single night. I can still picture him now sitting in his spot as he often would, the blue light of his screen illuminating his face in the dark. And one night, also when I was around nine, I sleepwalked into the living room.
Lovely.
This is one of the only times I've ever sleepwalked, and it must have been more of like a half-asleep daze because I actually do have memory of this pretty
56:00
vividly. I remember my my vision was very blurry, almost as if I had two foggy lenses over my eyes. I could barely discern the environment.
This sounds like you were possessed.
Yeah, but like kind of still in the pocket.
Mhm.
Slightly being able to look through the lens
Yeah.
of your own eyes. So, I sleepwalked into the living room where I could hazily see my dad sitting in his usual spot on the couch clicking away at his computer. And I said, "Hey, Dad." And I went and I curled up next to him, quickly falling back asleep. The next morning, I'm still asleep on the couch and my parents wander into the living room as I woke up. And my mom asked why I was in the living room. I replied, "I came in here to sleep by Dad." And my dad replied, "I wasn't out here. I was in bed." To this day, this baffles me.
Why?
remember seeing the silhouette of my dad sitting on the couch through the blurry vision. The thought was that whoever or whatever I curled up next to, I guess, wasn't him. And that gives me goosebumps.
Or was it
That's not what I was expecting from that.
Woah.
Or was I maybe tapping into some alternate timeline? This was a different
57:00
version of my dad? I don't know. Anyway, thank you so much for creating a spooky supportive community and never leaving me unseen with my paranormal experiences. See you on the other side, Alana and Benny.
Wow.
And then we have way more stories from Alana to share in the future.
Yeah, clearly. Alana, you are haunted.
That's the haunted house.
Okay, well, I have one more to end this on, and then we have a Patreon extra.
If you're a Patreon member, if you're an only fandom on Patreon, you actually get a whole other ass story
Mhm.
just for you.
assful of story.
whole ass full of story. That just made me think of like Regina George where they say her hair is so big because it's so full of secrets.
Full of secrets.
Our asses are so big cuz it's so full of ghost stories.
Our Patreon asses.
I lived in a demonic house
Okay, this is from our listener Julie and it is called I lived in a demonic house. I just discovered you wonderful ladies recently and I am obsessed. You've unofficially become my co-workers since I have been listening in every time I'm at work. And now my co-workers know if my headphones are in, it is
58:00
spooky time. Do not disturb. With that being said, I have a story about what I believe was a demonic house that I lived in and I think you'll love it. I probably will.
[laughter]
I definitely will. So for as long as I can remember, I've always been in tune with the spiritual side. I was born into a haunted house with an old lady spirit who would watch over me according to my mom. So when I say as long as I remember, I genuinely mean I was born into it. So that house with the old lady spirit is not the same house that I'm about to talk about, but I just wanted to give you context.
The context is you have a lot of hauntings and you've experienced a lot of the paranormal.
You're a haunted
I've always been able to see, feel, and speak to what others could not. And it never bothered me. I've always been very friendly with spirits I've encountered and for some reason, I can never seem to stay away from them. Like I'm oddly attracted to haunted places like a moth to a flame. And I've always liked it until my family moved into a new house
59:00
when I was 15. We were moving from Colorado to Virginia and my mom had found this beautiful house in Virginia on George Washington's property. Every front door in the neighborhood had a plaque on the door stating the land was historic. That was all of these houses. This house was bigger than any house we'd previously lived in which was exciting. It was a three-story house with a basement that had a storage room and a closet which will be important for later. And me, my mom, and two younger sisters were so excited when we first got there, but we had no idea of what was to come. The first few months were fine, but we all kind of avoided the basement because it just had a vibe. And me being a typical teenager not wanting to be bothered, I decided that since everyone avoided the basement, I would then go hang out there and play video games and hang with my friends because no one else would bother us. So, I would spend hours down there. Sometimes until 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. just playing games. I was and still am a huge night owl, and so most nights I would be the only one awake. And I loved spending time down there, but usually after midnight, yeah,
1:00:00
I started to feel uneasy. But I just chalked it up to being late at night and the rest of the house being dark. And then, I don't know what came over me, but one night I decided I wanted to explore the storage room in the basement. That one room that none of us had ever been brave enough to go into. So, I paused my game, and I went to go open the storage room door. I went in, and immediately I felt uneasy.
[sighs]
The storage room looked unfinished and run-down with one small dingy light bulb in the ceiling to light up the entire room and a small well in the corner of the room. This was a stark difference compared to the rest of the basement, which was finished and updated, and it had a living room just on the other side of the storage room door. So, I immediately noped out of there, and I was like, "Well, I'm never going in there again." Left the room and decided the vibe was weird. I should go upstairs to my room and go to bed. But for some reason, as I was about to walk back upstairs, I noticed the closet at the bottom of the stairs, which we used to store holiday decorations. I had no reason to open it, but for some reason,
1:01:00
I felt compelled to. Hmm.
Everything this night Everything is going a little different.
And everything like she's being pulled and called to do. So, gosh, I don't know why, but I opened this closet, and I was like, "Yeah, okay, just decorations. Why did I open it?" And I was about to close it when I saw a little door on the side wall inside the closet. Y'all, I definitely would not survive in a horror movie because I was like, "Ooh, what's this?" And I went to investigate. This small door was locked with one of those old-school hook locks, and it was really stuck in there. I assume for being locked for so long, but against my better judgment, I didn't let this jam lock stop me, and I fought with it for a good 10 to 15 minutes before I finally got it unlocked. Successfully, I ripped open that door, and I was immediately hit with the most awful, evil feeling I have ever felt in my life. The instant feeling of regret and I should not have done that feeling. And here's what was inside. Inside this previously locked door
1:02:00
was a crawlspace with a single mattress in the middle of what I assume was left there from previous tenants. I quickly closed the door, and I locked it again, and I ran upstairs to my room to go to sleep. But I think when I opened that door, I let something out that I never should have. So creepy. That night, I vividly remember my dreams were just flashes of a demonic-looking face over and over again. After that, the house never felt the same again, and to this day, it's the place where I've experienced the most evil haunting I've ever dealt with. So the next day, I woke up, and I decided not to tell my family about the closet in the basement because I knew they would tell me, "It's fine, and the nighttime just scared me." Which Yeah, at the time, partially I was like, "Maybe that's true." So I went about my days, but things started happening. It started with the feeling of being watched, and everyone in the house felt it, but no one acknowledged it. Then I started hearing my name being called when no one would be home. My little sister, who we'll call A, also experienced this, too, but at the time, she was a skeptic and just brushed it off. At this point, I knew
1:03:00
there was an entity in the house with us, and so I decided to tell my mom. But she told me I was crazy, and that it was all in my head.
Um okay.
I decided I wanted to know who was there since I knew I could somewhat communicate with spirits. So I started to try to talk out loud to whatever was with me. Anytime something would happen. Well, as you can guess, this amped up the haunting a lot. Now more things were happening. I would hear people walking into the room or up and down the stairs, and I would think it was my mom or sisters, so I would turn to greet them, but no one would be there. This happened so many times. The noise of footsteps would come up from the bottom of the stairs to the top, and it would stop once it reached the top. Or it would approach a door to a room, but never enter the room. Then it progressed to seeing shadow people and shadow children, which happened so often I started seeing them every day. But there were two distinct times this happened. One time I was laying on the couch home alone in the living room watching Tik Tok on my phone when I saw a small shadow run behind the other couch. And at first I kind of didn't realize what I
1:04:00
saw and I ignored it until I saw the head of the shadow peek up from behind the couch to look at me. It had no face, just a black shroud, but I could feel it staring. Ah. There's something so creepy about the peekers. I dropped my phone to look at it, but as soon as I looked at it, it ducked down behind the couch like a child playing hide and seek, which freaked me out so much, and I tried to think maybe my sister was home and trying to play with me, so I called to her, still not moving from where I was sitting on the other couch out of fear, but also not taking my eyesight away from where I just saw this figure. A doesn't answer. I know that she's not home, so I call her. Sure enough, she's not home. I decide to be brave, I get up, I peek behind the couch, and you there's nothing there. The second time I remember seeing this is when my mom came home with groceries at night and asked me and my sister A to help bring them in from the car. As we're bringing in the last of our groceries from outside, I look out onto our front yard, and by the tree I see a shadow person behind the tree peeking out staring at us. Mm.
1:05:00
I asked my sister if she saw it, and she got this weird look on her face and told me to hurry up inside so we can go put the groceries away, but she never answered if she saw it or not. I told my mom again, but at this point I had told her so many times about the haunting, she told me to stop talking about it, but I could tell she was scared. I called my dad because I needed someone to believe me because at this point, I was really starting to feel crazy. My dad told me he doesn't know why my mom is being that way because when she was in high school, she would always see things and nobody believed her. So, she was used to that. I know. So, with that information, I knew my mom was seeing them, too, but was scared. My dad went on to tell me that my family, both on his side and my mom's side, have a history with the occult. My grandfather even made deals with the devil, which I'll tell you more about in another story.
My god, did it start with him? Probably.
After I found this out, it made me realize that maybe this entity was darker than I originally thought. When I found this out, the vibe completely switched in our house to something much darker. Like something was playing
1:06:00
pretend, pretending to be nice, and the moment I thought it was dark, it showed its true colors. Over the next [clears throat] few months, everyone in the house was arguing. Everything was negative. There were more shadow people, more noises, and now the entity was interacting with the physical realm. We started noticing things were moving, doors were being knocked on, electrical things started messing up, and I was the only one who was acknowledging that we were dealing with a haunting. Until A came barging into my room one day, so mad, asking why the hell I was banging on her bathroom door so aggressively while she was showering. But, I wasn't. When I swore up and down that I had not done that, she looked at me scared. She told me that while she was in the shower, her door was being pounded on so aggressively that she could see it shaking from the knocks.
god.
It was so aggressive that she got out of the shower, flung open the door to tell me, who she thought was knocking, to stop, but no one was there. We were both so freaked out that we put crucifixes in
1:07:00
our room, even though neither of us were religious. Things continued to happen, but the last big event that happened before my mom decided we needed to move was the worst. And it was the closest I think to being harmed by an entity. So
Not to make this about me, but like part of the this email and like these stories is reminding me so much of my sophomore year college dorm.
So that's so scary.
[laughter]
Like the knocking and banging happened to Marissa when she was in the shower. Bang bang bang and she was like, "Oh my god, I'll be out in a minute." No one's there.
Okay, so it was me, A, and our three-year-old sister home alone. A and my three-year-old sister were downstairs playing. I was upstairs taking a shower. Shower was normal, no banging on the door this day, but I did forget to bring my clothes with me to the bathroom. So I needed to go to my room to change. I get to my room and I lock the door, which is something I never do. But while I'm changing, I hear my doorknob rattle and I respond, "One second, guys, I'm changing." thinking it was one of my sisters. But the doorknob starts rattling harder and more aggressively.
1:08:00
Now I get annoyed and I yell, "What the I said just a minute." This is when and I swear on everything I love that this is true. I saw a small child shadow hand reach under my door. I could see the fingers and everything, but it was shrouded in a dark shadow. I freaked out. Even without putting on the rest of my clothes on, I run to the door, unlock it, rip it open. There's nothing there.
[snorts]
Okay, this is reminding me way too much of stuff because the shadow figure that me and Marissa would see was like 4-ft tall.
[sighs]
Like a little kid. Oh god.
I'm sorry. I understand the fear.
Yeah, terrifying. Not too long after that, my mom moved us out of the house. But here's why I believe whatever was there is demonic. My mom had a lot of trouble selling the house after we moved and we would have to come back every now and then to maintain the yard and clean. So about a month after we moved out, we came back to clean and the entire house molded. The entire house.
Excuse me?
mold. I mean our previously white walls
1:09:00
were completely black to the point that it was a biohazard to be inside. They said that the basement flooded somehow, but they had no idea how. And what's crazy is that yes, it spread throughout our entire house.
My god.
But the basement and stairs to the basement looked straight out of a Resident Evil game. It didn't look real. Like it looked post-apocalyptic. Before we moved, I made sure to lock that crawl space in the basement. But when we found the mold in the basement, we also found that crawl space door wide open.
No. No.
It's so scary to think that we'd stayed in that house even a month longer than that if we had stayed in the house even a month longer, how serious of danger we would have been in with all that mold.
god. No, that's so freaking freaky. How does the door open? By itself?
I definitely learned some valuable lessons about the spiritual world after living in this house and have become a lot more educated on my gifts and I will never again open a door that doesn't feel right, especially if all of a sudden I'm overcome by this feeling and voice telling me to open it.
1:10:00
Yeah.
Thank you for allowing a safe space to share my stories. Trust you will be hearing from me again soon. From Julie.
Damn Julie. Yeah, it's really bad. I am glad that they weren't in the house because with the black mold and stuff like that, it's so
Well, and also it's one thing for black mold to be there, but for it to grow to the point where the white walls have turned black, that doesn't happen in a month. No.
There's plenty of other houses that have been flooded and things like that.
Yeah. It does make me wonder if they were there, like what would have happened in terms of their interactions with the paranormal because like a lot of people say like have you checked your carbon monoxide detectors? Do you have mold? When people are having like hallucinations or paranormal experiences or whatever.
Or is it like September house where every month something different happens?
Mhm.
The mold is September.
