The Experiments

what the tapes are for people that don't know but essentially what these experiments are that Dr Dian Powell conducts and so many other researchers now as well is uh an experiment that is in an entirely controlled environment where you see if someone is actually telepathic by basically eliminating anything that could possibly be a clue or some sort of like body language reading so one of the things that is often done in a study is the person who is said to be telepathic usually this non-verbal autistic person will be placed in the room somewhere where they cannot see their parent or teacher or whoever the the person is that they can read the mind of and they will be wearing what is called a mindfold it's basically this blindfold that is so incredibly thick you cannot see anything the teacher or the parent is put behind this partition so there's no chance that the other person if this blindfold suddenly somehow becomes see-through that they could possibly

also I mean not to go on a tangent too much but like I think it comments on education generally like our education system is so there's like one path yeah but people learn so differently that it should be more accessible and there should be different ways of learning it was actually really upsetting to me when I was in college and studying psychology we were studying what is done in Japan and and China and some of these schools that are really kind of like flipping curriculum on its head in how kids are taught and how they're able to like connect with their body and move freely and come and go and just like the way that a classroom is set up is just so like the Western world would look at that and be like there's no freaking way that my child is ever going to learn like how would they learn if they're just like running laps around the school right and you can't choose what you think is right for someone and not be right and that is something that is happening a lot with these people who have non-verbal autism is there's this huge disconnect between having control over their physical body

first introduction in person is with this woman named Maria Maria's family got connected with Dr Powell because Maria's 12-year-old cousin Sophia reached out from Mexico and was like Hey we're pretty sure that my cousin who is non-verbal autistic can read my aunt's mind can read her mom's mind yeah and they only found this out because during Co Maria was given an iPad and she typed out I can read your mind and so then they they were like what and they started doing all these tests and like 100% of the time she was boom boom boom getting it right so wild Kai's like okay I'm more than just the Observer here I need to have some control over this experiment because I need to know that this is true and this is this is now like a documentary right and so she had has Maria's family fly

from Mexico and she has Dr Powell fly down from her home in the Pacific Northwest and Kai rents a house in Glendale California she does everything she shops for the mindfold all of the products everything make sure that it's not tinkered with she employs some of her friends that are like within the the documentary space to come film they have a five camera shot they do like 360 views that cover all of the mirrors anything reflective the people that are actually like employed to help here are some of the biggest Skeptics ever like Kai said that her cameraman she was so excited for him to be a part of this because he like you could say like oh the the sky is pink and he's like actually it's blue and here's why it's blue like it's just like so like this is the way the world is and there's no in between yeah um when it came to like anything like that so she was excited to have a huge skeptic and then she had another friend who was an animator be there to kind of be like the translator for Maria and Maria's family because only Sophia spoke English in that family and so was getting 100% accurate

responses or like quote unquote guesses and so then they gave her another test and this is one of the tests that I think is just like so incredibly wild oh my gosh let me say I keep calling her Maria her name is Mia Mia Mia sorry MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA I can't go back now because I've already so too much and so one of the tests they do is they have these popsicle sticks that have different colors and they're piled up color coordinated and so Mia has the mindfold on and they hand her a colored popsicle stick and tell her to place it in the corresponding pile so this is something that's like not mind reading her mom at all right right and 100% of the time she places it in the correct pile and so they're like what is going on here and they're kind of flabbergasted too because Mia when she had started communicating on the iPad she told her mom that not only could she read her mind but that she she can never remember not being able to and her earliest memories are from inside the womb and as proof she started talking communicating things that happen happened at doctor's appointments from when she was like 3 weeks old different
