Technical Difficulties

when Karin and I started our podcast we had so many technological difficulties that we were like I mean we say we're the most haunted podcasts in America but we actually think we are but in the beginning we had so many technical difficulties that we were like it has to be paranormal because we would record episode and they would just vanish like completely disappear we had to re-record them or so the audio would go for five minutes and then the rest of the 90 minutes was silent we had to record there was one episode we had to re-record what was it like three or four times three yeah oh my God and it was

first one I can't believe I didn't write about this in my book too because you know when you when you like decide you're gonna write a quote Memoir and it has to be funny I like you scrape the inside of your brain for every funny story you've ever told at a party um and I can't believe I never I didn't include this but when I was a little this is really creepy you guys when I was a little kid um oh this is so wild I was sharing a room with my brother and I'm six years older than him so I was like let's say I was 10 and he was four and we were asleep in our beds they were like twin beds next to each other separated by like a nightstand and from my bed for like through the door of my of our

bedroom you could see the top of the stairs like the you know the stairs coming from downstairs and uh I live in New York where most people don't have stairs so I'm like I'm just connecting the dots for those of you who live in single story dwellings um and so I opened my eyes in the middle of the night and this old lady nun like a nun no no no oh shut up a habit it was yellow and she floated I remember this distinctly floated into the room she did not walk I was not scared at all okay wow and I knew I was awake I remember thinking like is this a dream is no that I'm definitely awake yeah I sat up in my bed and she came and sat down on my brother's bed and motioned like this for me to like lie back down and I laid back down and she was

stroking his hair and I fell asleep so I told my mom I know it was so crazy and I told my mom that story the next morning my mother 100 believed me we're just like a creepy witchy family my mom believed She's a Lesbian tells you everything you need to know she believes in all the witchy crystally all of that stuff and I you know I was like totally believed and then my mom was always reading these like interesting books about like just my mom reads anything but like she was definitely into like spiritualism and whatever so she like a week or two later I went into her room and there was a book and on the cover was the face of the nun that I had seen the same one same immediately I was like oh Mom Mom that's the nun that I saw and it's not like I had seen the book before and then had a dream about her like right it was just the face and my mom turned white because it was a book about the death crone

went into Legend is like the it's sort of like the Grim Reaper in like lady form or whatever and she comes to you before you die and my mom my mother was convinced that the death Crone had come to like take my brother essentially and he's still alive he didn't die but like that was my first isn't that wild I know oh my gosh so many chills if she was the death Crone uh at the very I'm so glad your brother's still with us but at the very least I like that she feels so maternal and kind and is like stroking someone's hair you know if their last moments are the way that they get Marked for Death is this really nurturing warm moment then that makes me feel better because you know you kind of think about like the Grim Reaper with the hood and yeah yeah they're like chasing after you like yeah yeah it was very peaceful and I

remember like being not scared I remember like specifically I was like my mom was like were you scared I was like no it seemed fine but I also knew that she was not of this world you know yeah I mean a woman is floating into your bedroom exactly not really human exactly so that was my first ghost story and then all through high school I had I would have oh my God you guys are gonna think I'm so weird I know I'm in the right place we've heard some weird [ __ ] we have experienced some weird [ __ ] yeah we are very weird so I used to take naps after school because obviously I was in the drama club so I am same theater kids exactly and so we would have drama rehearsal from like six to nine at night and so I'd come home from school and like take a nap for an hour or whatever but I used to have I had sleep paralysis and um out of body experiences yeah because I I have been I've [ __ ]

and I could not move and like that was like really terrifying did you ever see anything or feel anything I was just gonna say yeah um there was one time that I remember seeing so vividly a woman from like olden times hovering in my room like doing work like I don't think she I wasn't she wasn't paying any attention to me but she was definitely there and either she was like a big woman and like what I would think of as like Garb from like the 1700s and like with that [ __ ] Bonnet and everything and she was like either churning butter or doing some sort of like seamstressing work or whatever that was terrifying there was another time that I I literally popped out of my body this sounds insane and I remember um going to like being so scared that I went across the hall to my mom's room and I I was like pounding on her door and she opened the door and it was a big black emptiness and I took a chair from

the hallway and like threw it in so maybe that was a dream I don't know but like this was all happening when I was a teenager and the out-of-body experience has happened all the time when I was older I would say like in my in my 30s was when I started having more of the astral projectiony sort of thing where I would be falling asleep you you must have like had this where like you're falling asleep and you just feel like you fell into your body yeah because it never happened so many times and I was looking that up and that was sort of they talk about that as like you're sort of Soul or Spirit or whatever has come out of your body and that's it going back in and I was like well I'm gonna I wanted to try to be more present for that because it is terrifying and I wanted to like I wanted but I wanted to like do it I wanted to get to philippi's shower yeah hell yeah so like I remember one time I was sleeping in my this was just a couple years ago and I could feel myself

Out of Body Experience

was fully out of my body was moving around my entire apartment complex and all of a sudden like a male voice in my physical body whispered wake up and my actual self like sprung back into my body was like I don't know if it was something trying to protect me like hey you're leaving your body vacant for I don't have a demon to come take over I mean Insidious I immediately thought of the movie Insidious like something is creeping and trying to you know what though untether you from your body sir does that mean you get to live in philippi's shower because that's a solid deal to me right honestly let the demon move my body around life is hard

you know I've only I've only had an out of Body Experience one time but my mom has had it happened to her a few times and she said that she'll hear it'll be it'll feel like there's headphones over her ears and it'll be like a big whooshing noise and then she'll know that it's coming and sometimes Patrick like you were saying it gets a little scary and she'll often try to fight it but one time I think multiple times she's let it happen but this one specific time it negatively affected me because she actually projected into my childhood bedroom when I was 13 and listened in on my entire breakup with my seventh grade boyfriend well actually let me correct myself she went to she had no control over where she was going but she heard me talking to him on the phone and then found herself in his house watching him cry and so she made it so much worse because she like saw all of the emotion and like who broke up with who the heartache yeah because he cheated on me

through him I know but his heart was broken and my mom the next morning she was like man I had the strangest dream about your about your boyfriend and you guys were going through this horrible breakup and then she starts describing everything that was said and it was word for word it was like a printed transcript of our conversation we don't like understand I know I'm sure the things we were saying too I'm like so embarrassed that she oh I know I know but wait so your mom is like super witchy too yeah Corinne's whole family so when I met Karin in college I when she was talking about her family and her upbringing I just like truly pictured a pot of witch's brew on the stove at all times usually have a little simmer pot and her mom is like welcome home I got the concoction Brewing oh yeah I grew up in Vermont and we built our house we know the family who owned the land before they selled it to the developers and we

was so real so what this was during the pandemic and we Steve it's my husband Steve and I have a daughter and we were like you know in New York City like we have no outdoor space they were locking all the playgrounds they closed her school so we knew we were going virtual we at the time we were living this tiny little apartment and we're like we gotta get the [ __ ] out of here like we can't you know we can't stay here anymore because like we can't go outside yeah right so we we rented like a cabin in the woods essentially and that's my dream yeah um oh uh what was it was they said it was a Berkshires but it wasn't it was like near the Berkshires it was oh [ __ ] wait let me text you if he'll know um uh because I live in Boston now so I'm dying I'm dying to know oh where do you live in Boston um I'm in the West End so I used to live in Beacon Hill and then I reached by the CVS right by the center exactly you know

Boston you guys have done shows here well I went to Emerson so I lived in Boston for four years and back then we just we there wasn't a name for that neighborhood it was just sort of like the neighborhood at the end of like the of Charles Street right and so now would half the people call it the North End too because yeah this was this is new this is all built up this didn't exist yeah we were just driving through there the other day and I was like oh it's the North End and then I saw the CVS I was like oh my god oh Shelburne Falls that was the name of the town okay so I'm gonna have to get myself out there it was really really nice and a haunted inn or well Airbnb it was a haunted Airbnb and the the ladies who live there they're lesbians I'm like obsessed with lesbians and they were like I wrote about this in the book where I was like they were like the Rosie O'Donnell of less like so lesbian they canned everything there was like chopped firewood this is drinking it was the absolute dream for me it was like every album was like an artist from Lilith Fair all of their activities were

like Selma and Louise it was just it was amazing um but so we stayed there and and we it was like this old cabin and essentially what happened was the master bedroom was on the main floor and there was like a little like a small little room that had like an old piano in it off the bedroom and then off of that room was the kitchen and one morning like one night in the middle of the night like you know two in the morning or whatever I woke up to go out and get some water and I walked past the round kitchen table and as I'm approaching it I was like oh there's an old man sitting at the table and he was like this old man was like in an army uniform and I was like a hat kind of pulled that and he was legitimately as this ghost was asleep and I looked that I because it was a new space it didn't seem weird that there was a person I didn't know like sitting at the end was the middle of the night it just it all happened so fast yeah but I I like looked over and I was like oh that that man's asleep at the kitchen table and I like looked at him for a

second and then I I looked away and then I like kind of did one of those and I looked back and he was gone and it was and I told Steve about it the next morning Steve does not my husband does not believe in ghosts he believes like dirt in a box like that's it you get one go and that's all and then right and but by that old piano all around it are pictures like like like ancestor pictures of like the women who live there and I [ __ ] looked at the into the pictures and I found the guy I'm not no joking way and so I I the amount of confirmation that you've had in yeah I know stories and experiences too and again it's not like I had ever looked at those pictures and then I was like oh look and then I had a dream about I never met them before I'm like and he was wearing the [ __ ] Army yeah with the hat and everything and so it was so wild because um during the pandemic I don't even know I must have mentioned it on the on my podcast because somebody tweeted like

hey do you have did are there any is there anybody out there with like pandemic ghost stories and somebody tagged me in the reply and so this woman reaches out to me and she's like hey I'm writing a story about pandemic ghost stories can I interview you and I was like sure and she I would just assume to do this for like a blog or whatever like but I was like what else am I gonna do it's the pandemic why not yeah right I said to her I'm like this is the most the world's most boring ghost story but like here it is the New York Times so writes the story it's like not just me it's like a handful of other people but mine was my first story this story never left me I was interviewed by Rolling Stone I was interviewed by like um BuzzFeed news did a whole thing on it then um The New York Times has a thing where once a year they'll and they'll actually draw like cartoon like animations of their most interesting stories from the year they picked mine this ghost had never imagined that he

story about like basically she said there was this young man who was dying and obviously like that's what hospice is for and she had been going back and forth you know she really had taken to him and so there was other nurses attending him but she wanted to like be there in his final days and so she was there with him when she you know she knew he was going to pass in the next 24 hours or so and she was driving home and she said that her entire like this is pinned tick tocks you can watch it okay like I'm talking about how like she just had this moment where her whole Essence was taken over and she felt this like this pure pure joy and she heard him say into her ears oh my God Jackie it's so I'm gonna now I'm gonna cry it's so amazing if I had only known if I had only known I know I know I know oh my gosh you know it's like I like I I'm obsessed with this woman I like want to be best friends with her and she was also talking about

um the death stare that like she's like this happens so often it's actually like something we have to study like we like we teach it in Hospice Care um where she was saying that like a month or so before people pass they start to see dead relatives or dead like animals or friends that like and like sometimes they talk to them sometimes they'll be like do you see her oh my God she's right there like that kind of stuff it's crazy my grandma was you know

What Happens When You Die

I mean a couple months before she passed away was complaining of like a man in her closet and talking about like seeing things and everyone was just like oh she has dementia she's confused and I you know maybe but maybe she also was closer to the other side and was seeing people yeah you don't know which going back to the simulation if everyone has the ability then close to death to see into these other dimensions and some people have the opportunity to once in a while

home and drink and like watch TV I want to do that you know what's that like I know so many experiences I'm sure with Daisy too because totally kids are just so open like I have yeah I have a lot of younger cousins and there's been a few that have seen my dad's dad who passed away when my dad was 13. and we had a really interesting thing happen a few years ago where one of my younger cousins I think she was five at the time she was just starting school her dog had passed away while she was at school and she was so upset at school and none of the teachers knew why and she wouldn't talk to anyone and then when her parents my aunt and uncle went and picked her up they were like what's going on like are you okay and she was like oh I'm really sad because um Rowan passed their dog and they were like oh how do you know and it's because the dog went and visited her at school

and explained to her what happened and my aunt was like so he told you and she's like no Mom dogs can't talk I just thought my aunt was stupid but somehow she just knew she was given the information from the dog saying I'm not gonna be there when you when you get back wow oh my God I'm still thinking about it I know it is all of this stuff is so fascinating and there's just so much potential and Beauty in it I mean also there's a lot of scary stuff I think you know Fred and I um have a sick fascination with the scary stuff me more than Korean but uh yeah totally I'm scared no I mean like do you believe in hell some sort of version of it yeah yeah we don't really know I definitely think so yeah I think we haven't committed necessarily because we both I mean I was raised Catholic but a lot of things happened in my life to make me not fully adhere to one belief or another yeah and

maybe it's not necessarily hell but there are evil spirits and whether they were evil in this life and you know continued on or there's beings that are not necessarily of human descent but recently we uh we had a couple listeners you know when you think of the stereotypical demon you think like possession The Exorcist wanting to take over your body whatever it might be but recently we've been getting stories from people who are like demons aren't all bad and there's actually certain demons that can be helpful and there's like one that helps take away excess emotion and help you process things right one thousand people coming that yeah yeah so that yeah that made us go huh I mean I think that we see it like I think

that I think that we see evil embodied you know like I think if you look at like a John Wayne Gacy or like a Ted bunny somebody who can like you know Murder 30 people and bury them under the house or Jeffrey Dahmer like I think there's definitely some kind of evil like it's the kind of thing it's so weird to like say it out loud but like you know you think of like a serial killer and it's sort of like there's there's they are 100 responsible for their actions right obviously yeah they are responsible but there's something wrong with them you know there's something wrong with them that that makes them have those urges and it's sort of like that'd be nice to figure out what that is is that of this world or is that like you know is that some Demon [ __ ] yeah well Sabrina your dad has like like my dad's a serial killer no he's not no but he's he's like battling kind of with yeah some sort of demonic past version of himself this

Past Lives

opens up like a you know big conversation about reincarnation and past lives and future lives and yeah where are if if you believe in that where are serial killers in terms of like their life span reincarnation span because my dad you know he's had a lot of issues and my mom and now his new wife both have said he speaks another language in his sleep and it's like no dark and like kind of scary and he's done past life regression therapy and he told me that when he was in the therapy his entire demeanor shifted and became a bit like like evil and uh this other life came through and basically is trying to take over his current life and this guy was pretty bad I don't know necessarily what time period he was from but when he lived he you know manipulated people and was kind of a con man and stole money and

but it's wild too like on Tick Tock I've been following this other woman whose name I don't know but she's like really into um like the planets and like the like what's going on out there with like the planets and the stars and yeah how long the sun is gonna until it burns out and other like potentially inhabitable planets or habit whatever the word is and like there's just so much out there you know what I mean yeah there's so much like and I definitely I'm afraid that like one day the astronauts are gonna bump up against the wall like in The Truman Show you know yeah okay well here's another thing that

I saw on Tick Tock that has to do with space that really blew my mind it was a video talking about it was trying to help us conceptualize what a light year is and how slow light actually moves through space and so they were basically saying like if you if aliens were looking at Earth and they were looking through their telescope and we were 65 million light years away what they'd be

seeing through their telescope is actually dinosaurs they would not be seeing us because whenever you look around it's in the past and they were like to bring it a little bit closer to home the sun is I think it was it was eight or nine light years away or or sorry not light years but but the amount of time that the sun's what happens to the Sun in space that we would see it is eight to nine minutes and so if the sun were to just completely disappear we actually wouldn't know until about nine minutes after it happened well they say that about Stars free like me out there are some stars in our sky that we see now that actually have died yeah and we won't know we won't know for years that is but so I guess it begs the question aliens that do have the the ability to maybe travel through space and time when they come and visit us what do they think they're getting worse what they actually
